Well forget all that big way stuff.............. eating dinner with Val and listening to her going's on was the highlite of my trip...... Lord to be young again (I'll never look at her the same again)

But wait, my great great great grandfather died fighting to free the slaves.......... and being a tax payer I have to kick in for the mule and land?? That doesn't seem fair. and although this whole thread is a "joke" we have all seen this over and over again..... ask for a trillion settle for a billion.

Okay, I know I'm going to get busted for this. But! I met flyangel2 (Mary) today. And I got to say, she just didn't measure up to what I thought she would be....... I had heard how much fun she can be, but she seemed distanced and not very friendly. I'm hoping she will warm up during the 100 ways........A lot of people are saying that she is a bit of a snob I also met Bill Von, and I won't go into that. Fortson

Who's going to "Majik Fling 50 ways" in Deland?
Mirage63 replied to Mirage63's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Well I don't know about the "good ole boy" thing, I got to go ....I do know it filled up fast. For what it's worth it was a lots of fun, something they plan to do at least two times a year - possible four. We had a killer speed star event, some ten ways, twenty ways and then a couple of fun 50 ways. As funny as this will seem, they had an honest to god five star dinner, serve by D.M. - Sure I'll never be as good as any of these guys on there worst day BUT I'll never serve them dinner either. Weather screwed us on Sunday, we only got one jump in, but the entire event was great. If you have a chance to make one give it a try! Fortson -

3 hrs and I'm out the door, heading to Deland for the first "Majik Fling 50 ways" ought to be a big ol time. I believe they hope to make this a yearly event. Wednesday I live for Kate's camp and 100 ways. I am going to be sooooooo broke. YAHOO -
Are there other packers on staff, or will there be other packers on staff. I don't make it up there often but when I do I want a packer! Good luck

Ahhhhh..........you think THAT's bad.........we clean several out a year on large copiers.....the really good ones are when the copier cycles say late at night. Mr Mouse looks for a nice warm place to sleep (or worse chew on some wires) copier cycles (basically just warms itself up to stay ready to run) AND SPLAT. We make the jr techs clean it up.......

Hey anybody.......try this on for size: Leave Monday morning for Rosarita which according to "Skypop" is a 45 minute ride from the boarder. (leave the cars there for $8.00) spend Monday night there.....recover Tuesday and head back to the dz for a good nights sleep to be ready to jump Wednesday. I don't know much about Rosarita.......but might be fun and for all you healthy non-partying typs......well you can get up real early Tuesday -

Thanks for the info.....so it looks like we are both "paying" the same. So in effect your tax situation has forced the average person to not drive gas hogs SUV. The benifit is to the enviroment and taxes your gov. raises and spends (hopefully better than ours) Amazing that the cost came out so close, although with a free market I guess not.
-
Thanks for the info..........help me out here. I did a fast google. In Ga we pay %15 in state, local and federal tax on a gallon of gas currently @$2.18 a gallon. (approx .33 per gallon) which makes our gas cost around $1.85 per gallon. Just so I have a better idea of what you guys are paying, after taxes how much is a gallon, or I guess a liter.
-
Not to get to far off the subject...................but of that horrible $6.50 a gallon you pay how much is taxes? I'm sure that someone here can tell the rest of us the % of taxes paid for a gallon of gas in the UK and the % here. But your correct, it's going to hurt our economy bad if it goes way up.....not to worry though it wouldn't effect the rest of the world if the US economy tanks, not one little bit.

Explore San Diego Go to the mountains Get drunk Man this is getting to the end of the skydiver list already! -
{{{{so what? $2.25 was just to get us comfortable for $1.90 which is much higher than 6 months ago. It always overshoots then stabilizes at a higher price}}} *** Well that I do agree with....but the $2.00 won't stand
-
Hey could we start a list here, say for three days.... if you think gas will not come BACK down below $2.00 a gallon in the next five months just say so. I want names. Where I live (So. Ga) it's about $2.24 today. On a side note, my friends who are the left and to the right all want to get off the "oil wagon" Cater talked about, Regan talked about it, Clinton talked about it, and Bush I and Bush II is talking about it. Both parties talk about it but neither DO anything about it. I mean REALLY do anything big about it. btw gas will come back down within five months to less than $2.00 gallon because if the price goes up to much (and stays up) we WILL finally do something

So far I've got: Explore San Diego and Big Bear lake. City travel doesn't do that much for me.....we have kicked around surfing leassons and a hotel on the beach.... Any other idea's? If I don't get something planned I'll just lay up drunk the three days and I can't afford that! -
Who's going to Kate's camp/100 ways in May
Mirage63 replied to Mirage63's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey all, Just trying to see who all might be going to both events and if/what plans mighht be out there for the Mon-Wed between the two events. Had planned to head down into Mexico but understand that the rental car folks can make that expensive. Figure I'll get most all the jumping I want from the camp and 100 ways.....besides I don't get much of a chance to take three days off in Ca.! Any thoughts or idea's for what's to do? -
You know I have to agree with this. Other than some token comment to appear not to be so totally on sided-you don't even have to read the post of some people to know what they are going to say. What scares me is that neither "side" is totally right. (see there's my token disclaimer)

I stop so fast if you were walking behind me we'd run into each other! I don't skydive to "cheat death" half the non-jumpers of the world believe that. I love it, I love the people BUT if I could make it perfectly safe I would. I agree with another poster.....some of the folks here are just talking big...."oh I'd keep skydiving"...right.

Ahhhh Rhino, I don't have a clue as to your skills or for that matter if you are in the IT market. But as I hirer of IT techs all I've seen is a market correction. There's ton's more IT folks out there. Sure it sucks if you were there for the "hay day" when a smuck with a MCSE ticket right out of school got big $$. That push all the pay up, and of course drew more people to the field - which of course - push the prices down. A union would fix the problem for a short period of time, but as we have seen the market will move around unions as fast as possible. Bottom line is we still have to pay top dollar for good IT people (which I'm sure you are, and I mean that) which makes it an employee market, but we don't have to pay top dollar at the entry or even mid level. We no longer have to hire people with bad attitudes just because we CAN't find the tech skill set we need otherwise. (employers market) Plus we can lower our charge out

Correct, but that doesn't mean they should be there forever. Some get cut, others get more. Elimination of contracting positions in one area normally leads to another area growing. The job of the goverment is not to be a job creator in any event.

So when was Mike SUPPOSE to be gone? I don't want to hear about Mike going to jail for choking some lawyer to death!
