  1. Walk yourself into the local VA Hospital and write letters for an elderly man whose family is far away, visit with a vet who has many sotries to tell and no one to listen, go to your local homeless shelter and find out how many vets you run into then offer your services for the day, check your local church and find a family with someone stationed over seas who is getting to visit home for the holidays and buy them some cool tickets for a game or concert, buy some phone cards and send them to a near by base, they'll see that they get to a soldier's family, ask the people around you if they have friends or family in the service and then play secret santa to a serviceman/woman who is deployed, take them a tree and have a nice christmas dinner sent over to their house (if you need people to do this for look around this site, there seem to be a lot of military connections here) There is TONS you and I can do sitting in our comfy houses to thank those who give so much for so little. ~ A Marines daughter Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

    Class Act

Last I checked we had a military force that wanted to sign up to defend this great nation, whenever and whereever their commander in chief called them to action. Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  3. I am thankful for people like you, who spend their days seeing people at the worst of times. People who show up again the next day to do it all over again, hoping to make a difference! Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  4. Your version puts Julie Andrews and The Sound of Music to shame... I love it! Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  5. They are mentioned together only because they are things friends and family own, are symbols and came to me at this moment. Give me more time, I'd come up with more. No, I wouldn't make them take it off, unless it was a symbol of hate. Depending on what it was, I may very well have chat with them about what it was and what it meant. I really was only voting in a poll, I didn't intend to get deep;) Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  6. I am a far cry from better than everyone else. I am a Kindergarden teacher who's flipped her lid. But it is no different, IMHO, than me wanting to wear a superbowl ring, my fathers Vietnam medals or a cross around my neck if I didn't believe in God. They are statements of who you are, what you have done with your life and what your belief system is... if you don't share the beliefs, don't wear the symbol... 7. I voted yes. I love football, got a jersey from every team I've ever seen play. Even have an old high school friend who plays professional ball and has a superbowl ring. But I can't wear his ring, didn't earn it. Get them all t-shirts, I've thrown myself out of an airplane 42 times to earn the right to wear one. And I hope to be a skydiving granny one day! Just my .02~ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

    SlingShot Santa

I KILLED Santa! He fell down between two cliffs~ WOOWWWW...132.7 Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  9. Here's mine... I was driving my son to school one day, running late as usual. (He starts school at 7:15) I get pulled over in a school zone, the officer follows me through the drop off lane, lights flashing, and pulls into a parking spot after I dropped my son off. You can only imagine how embarrassed my 13 year old son was. In the rush to get out the door I didn't take my purse. So when he asks me for id I have to fess up, I left my purse at home. He asks if I know my DL number and yes, I do. I know I am in for one expensive ticket. Then he asks if there is anything with my name on it in the car. Sitting between the front seats is my log book and my USPA liscense. He had a few questions about skydiving and that was that. Got me out of that BIG ticket. (And it is only an A) Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

    KKK Initiation

Hadn't thought about that~ Good point! I saw a bunch of kids on tv one time, they all had parents in the Klan. Having taught Kind- fourth grade, I kinda know kids, and when they are young they are so accepting. They'll ask a question about a diffence and then move on. But how these kids could have been filled with so much hate was beyond me. Maybe such a stupid act will be enough for them to not follw in Mom and dad's footsteps. 20. Ha! I did my first for my 30th! Little did I know I'd get hooked!!!! You'll love it and I am sure your insurance is fine. I am a single mom and I jump too much. Since I am their only parent, I'd stop in a heart beat if I was really worried about them being orphaned. Relax and enjoy! You'll love it! Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

  22. I turned mine in with the twenty dollars and then a whole month later got a letter from the USPA telling me the fee was 51.00 and to send another check. Just looked at my letter dated Sept 26. The phone number on ther is 703-836-3495 if you wanna call. It also gave an email...uspa@uspa.org. Hope that helps~ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  23. Wow, What a day! I teach resource to 3rd and 4th graders in Houston at a Title one school, so I feel your pain. I had an 8year old tell me to F* off just a couple of days ago. My first reaction was to whack him. (Big time) Or to take him to the bathroom and give him a mouth full of soap. Since neither of those were an option I walked away from the situation for awhile. And just FYI, corpral punishment is allowed in Texas schools, but teachers are not allowed to administer it. (Well, at least our district and several surrounding districts where my friends teach) Is a behavior management plan in place? Do you have access to a school psychologist? What are the child's IEP goals? What about her school transcripts? What worked for teachers in the past? I have found it helps to discipline in a way that hits 'em where it hurts. I.E. For some, loss of recess is no big deal but make them eat in the classroom with you for lunch is a killer. My children also have point cards and for each infraction they loose points. They start with x number of points and they can loose or earn more for behavior choices. Our job isn't easy and MANY burn out. Few want the a.b. kids in the first place. As for whether or not to press charges, I don't see where that is your call (just confused) Didn't she slam the assistant with the door? I have had the DARE officer at our school in my room to try and scare the crap out of one of my kids. I couldn't reach him at all, everything I did his mother yelled at me that it was all because they were black. The officer took the kid on a tour of the jail. Maybe I managed to keep him out of there a few additional years. I don't know... As hard as it is, this girl needs your love, attention and role modeling probably WAY more than some of your other kids... Good luck with her this year.. Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  24. As someone with only 30 or so jumps I am in no position to offer any wisdom. ( I still land on my rear most of the time!) But encouragement I can do! At the dz I learned to jump at I have often asked why they let me come back! I was awful, each time I landed was nothing short of a miracle;) I saw power lines as a challenge, sort of a game of chicken...how close can I land to them and have the jm not have a heart attack? I bruised up my knees really badly before they told me flares were required at that dz and knees were not brakes. Imagine that! I liked to land as far from the student drop area so I could to get my exercise walking back to the dz. Oh, yeah, I tried to stall my canopy at about 800 feet. But I LOVE skydiving, it is now a part of who I am. I can't explain the way it changed how I look at life. As my jm told me skydiving isn't for everyone and if it isn't for you it's ok. But, if you have a passion for it don't give up. If I can do it anyone can~ really! Good luck and hang in there. PS. It just keeps getting better! Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  25. I am new to this site and new to skydiving. I have laughed out loud at some of the stuff in here so thought I'd give it a try. I figured it out without getting my son's help! Maybe I'll get fancy enough to add a quote! Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
