  2. When my son was twenty months old he got a hold of a package of birth control pills and ate them all. I took him to the doctor and he said your son will have an erection for some time but it is nothing to worry about. Kyle kept pulling his diaper off and telling everyone "Look! It's stuck!" Wonder who I could sue??? _____ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  3. Silly Girl!! Why did you do it? How did you do it? Nuff ?'s from me... Get yourself to the doctor ASAP and get another one put back on. Then no more decisions until you poll other dz.commers. _______________ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  4. From the other side of the coin...(I am a mom...) She only wants you to be happy, loved and cared for... Consider yourself lucky. We all want our children settled and supported and that continues to mean happily married. That said, I became a mom at a young age by accident and again at 26 by choice. My parents have accepted my somewhat unconventional life but I know in their hearts they'd love to see me married. Now I am talking about joining the peace corps when my youngest is out of high school and she is fine with that! At 33 she has accepted the bohemian side of me. 14. All I can say is GO FOR IT! I left marketing and a paycheck twice what I now make teaching in a Title 1 school. (The majority of my kids live in serious poverty~ several are homeless) Before I hated going to work, now I wake up each morning THANKFUL that I get to go. If my boss only knew I'd show up for half the money if I just get to see that look in a child's eyes when they "get" it! Money cannot compare with a feeling of making a difference. What do I know, I can't wait to get my kids off to college so I can join the Peace Corps Good Luck! ___________________ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

  17. [(actually, why can't the private sector handle it, or, give us vouchers for the choice to go private, also if you are childless, why should you have to pay for someone else's choice?) Instead of asking how it should be funded, maybe ask why should it be 'publicly' funded? I chose to have kids, I'm prepared to pay for them. Children do not ask to be born and should not suffer because their parents figured out how to have sex. To quote Thomas Jefferson (the father of public education) democracy cannot survive without those talents which nature has sown as liberally among the poor as well as the rich, but will perish without use, if not sought for and cultivated. So pony up and don't gripe about securing the future of democracy!
  18. You asked an honest question, so I'll give you and honest answer. I consider myself a christian, but I sometimes feel that that phrase has been hijacked by people who want to beat you with their bible and tell you why you have to believe exactly what they do or face the consequences of eternal damnation. I know God exists because I know it. Makes perfect sense to those who believe and it is an insane statement to those who don't. I'll try to put it in words non believers will get...I know it because I can feel my dad's love even though he died when I was little of agent orange cancer. I know it because my daughter talks about her Nana, who died years before she was born. I know it because I walk into a classroom of poverty stricken children each and every morning and I am glad to be there. I know it because I walk out of that same classroom counting the hours until I get to go back. I know it because when I hear about pain in this world I hurt. I know it because the angry statements made by a couple of people in this thread only make me sad, not angry. Yes, some churches will take your last dime and laugh all the way to the bank. But that is people, not God. There are sick priests who take advantage of children. They are people, not God. There are devote Baptists who will tell you no Morman will enter heaven. They are people, not God. Pastors will have affairs with those they counsel. They are people, not God. God is love and anything that doesn't represent love doesn't represent Him. Everytime we reach out in love we represent Him. He doesn't care what church you show up at, He only wants to see you reach out in love. I didn't wake up one day and say "Today I become a Christian! Today God saves me from the bottom I hit." I just always knew He was there, no matter what was happening in my life. But I do know that I see His face in the face of every child that walks in my classroom and I know that I am closer to Him with each hug I dish out on His behalf! If you wanna PM me feel free:)! _________________________________________________ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

  20. How the hell do you know? Do you speak baby? You probably weren't aware of the after affects of ANY type of anesthesia on a new born baby. Most people aren't aware. I said he was not tortured, I did not say he was not in pain. I made the decision to endure 27 hours of labor with no pain meds because of my concerns about anesthetic on a newborn. But I made the educated decision that the pros of pain killers in this instance outweighed the cons. No, I do not speak baby, but I am his mother and I can tell you that in MY son's instance the crying was no more than when they repeateldly shot my daughters legs for her immunizations. I stand by decision, given the facts that I had at the time. My grandfather had just made the decision to have a circ and he was 65, he was born in Poland. When we talked about it he felt it was the best option. I respect your opinion, but I did not make my decision carelessly nor did I take it lightly. I made it, as I make every decision involving Kyle and Lauren, with their best interests ALWAYS closest to my heart, since they stole it anyway! __________________________________________________ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.

  24. Well, the we can wait a few (many) years, let them compare notes in a way that only brothers can, and they can have the final say on how it effects *uhumm* feeling... *runs away embarassed* __________________________________________________ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
  25. I watched... As a stubborn new mother, I insisted on being in there and I watched. His little fingers were wrapped around mine and I kept my face in his the whole time. Ok, so I didn't watch the snip, I looked at his adorable face. We were nose to nose for the whole few minutes. I also insisted on an an anesthetic and a little prick of ladicane before the original shot to numb the area for the shot. He made a funny face and then cried at the ladicane shot, but no worse than at any routine immunization. He did not see the neddle for the anesthetic and no more than whimpered at that shot, although he was still crying. He did not scream at the top of his lungs, he was NOT in any way tortured. He was uncomfortable though, but no more than my daughter who came along seven years later when they stopped combining shots, made polio a shot instead of a liquid and came at her cute little legs with 5 neddles! One stab after another. Right, left, right, left, right, the poor kid thought it would never end. Just my observations... __________________________________________________ Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
