  1. Hey everyone! I need to get some reviews posted for Triax Productions' DVDs. Anyone who has seen either Continuum or Continuum II, or either of the Bridge Day 2004 DVDs, PLEASE help us out and write us a critical review! Tell us what you liked, what you didn't like, what you'd like to see different in a new production, and any other suggestions you might have! to submit a review for: CONTINUUM II: click here CONTINUUM: click here BRIDGE DAY 2004-STANDARD: click here BRIDGE DAY 2004-BOOGIE: click here Thanks everyone! pope edit to clarify title ~TA
  2. Yes, that looks, um... cool. That's pretty detailed--are those veins? pope
  3. I challenge you to go see stomp in person and come back unimpressed.
  4. Footage was great--Only it didn't make the video--I couldn't find a way to do it without burning the site (more than it already gets burned/raped every year 'bout that time). I'm SURE it will make a future carnage/humor reel...maybe I'll make a little online short story for the website. BTW--we do have *some* copies of the BD2004 boxed set remaining... cheers, pope
  5. I have, for sure--when there's a critical shot to get, you want to be able to frame it up as best as possible--But I don't think newer cameraflyers should just start throwing shit up on top of their head and then go learn how to fly it--they should add weight, snagpoints, complications gradually, until camera flying is second nature. Then, when they start BASE jumping, they should remove all the shit again only to add it incrementally again as they gain comfort. ...I prefer to jump without a ringsight whenever possible, ESPECIALLY in BASE. Not as much for snagpoints, but for clarity of vision. I know a guy who figured the locations of the edges for the entire frame of his camera(s) and taped off the outside edges of the frame on a Factory Diver lens. looked goofy as hell but seemed to work pretty good. pope

...or throwing the PC under your arm... Yes...video.
  7. Turbo ZX 165 ft² helluva downsize, don't you think? derek is a lightweight guy and usually borrows a 135 or 120. So not as much of a downsize as you may think from reading his profile... rm Yes it is. Even if He's 105 lbs.
  8. I disagree. Don't add too many things to the mix at one time! Use a goggle dot for now, get used to shooting and flying the camera(s), then, once you feel more comfortable add that gnarly snag point of a ringsight! Then your shooting will improve by leaps and bounds--safety first, right?

  10. That's the combo, right there. BTV has worked well for me, as well.
  11. can you upload some of the Boinx stuff? that sounds fun...I might even d/l it! cheers, pope
  12. If you truly want a tried and true "bombproof" camera, I'd look into getting a GSAP. No instant gratification, but they really can take great shots. Anytime you "hand-hold" a camera on a BASE jump you're risking the well-being of your camera... At least look into a camera condom or other kind of sheath for whatever camera you end up with. pope
  13. I'm working on a script for iMovie that will enable you to plug in via firewire, automatically sense the cuts you made during your filming, and seperate each into a template video in iMovie. Once you have captured the video to the computer, the camera is free to fly again, the edit is done for you, and all you need to do is burn the DVD. The whole process should take about 13-15 minutes, only 5 of which you actually need to be there, freeing you up to pack, etc. The benefits are obvious, the drawbacks are that you need to shoot SPECIFICALLY to edit that way, every time. It doesn't work if there are more clips than the pre-made template is ready to accept. That being said, you could create 5 or 10 different templates so the videos don't turn out *exactly* like all the others...theme each a bit differently. pope
  14. How about listing the BEST option(s) for commercial airports to fly into if you're wanting to book tickets to a boogie or something, maybe links to local motels/hostels that offer "skydiver discounts" or something?? Distance from nearest commercial airports? just a thought...
  15. JVC:Digital Video = Huffy:Mountain Biking
  16. The animated titling in C2 was done in 3D Studio Max and Maya--neither of which are easy to learn or operate, IMHO. For more basic titles, if you work on a mac, Livetype has some cool stuff, but can be a really powerful titling enging with a little creativity and a good knowledge of the program. Windows users--I don't know what to tell you other than the 3DSMX/maya options, but they're out there. hope this helps, pope
  17. should have been more clear-- that was an anamorphic lens adapter, ~0.75 or so...wide angle lenses are available, but spendy seeing as there is a 72mm filter diameter. I usually shoot jumps with NO lens adapter, and fly at an appropriate distance away from the subject. My experience is that 30p will give you less 'flutter' in higher action moves, ie. jumping. If the subject or the camera is stationary, you're just fine in 24p. I believe that footy was shot in 24p, NOT 24pADV. pope
  18. I have a number of jumps on AG-DVX100a's, both aircraft and BASE. They are big, but their GREAT cameras. If you shoot anything outside of skydiving for money, buy one. They are a bit bulky, but really not so much more that any VX from sony. The image stabilization feature sucks for skydiving--I rarely use mine at all. 24p is beautiful but you have to be SURE to fly super smoothly and know your light. There are 3 ND settings on the camera as well which I wish all video cameras had. I think another good option for the DVX is shooting skydives at 30p--seems to do well with more movement. Beware--lenses are quite expensive, even for the crappy ones. Century makes a .3 w/a for it that sells for around 500+ (not a crappy lens at all!) sample 24p with Panasonic AG-DVX100a This is shot with an anamorphic lens adapter, and the small file probably won't do it justice, but you can check it out anyhow if you want. all in all, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. pope
  19. and you will. I've been told they're [finally] shipping back to us from the replicator tomorrow or tuesday at the latest. If you've already placed your order and you live in the US, you should have them in about a week. If you live outside the US/Canada, a few days longer. If you haven't bought them yet, we only got a *few* extras, so I'd order them quick if you want them. BTW, there is a Red Bull Airforce"thread on here somewhere wondering what those jumps at BD were--We got em in the DVDs from 5 or 6 different angles--pretty sick shit! So there. That's what's up. As far as I know, most previously released BD videos have taken well into April/May to be released--We have 2 completely different edits, literally HOURS of edited program, and it's sent out before the end of January! Hope you all enjoy it. pope
  20. Have the film processed, digitized, and then it's pretty much the same editing process as you'll do with your DV footage.
  21. Id suggest the Aaton A-Minima (16mm). It's quality, relatively light and compact, easily helmet mountable. If only I could afford one.
