  1. I forgot about Brandon. Kamloops does not operate an aircraft. One member operates the aircraft and the club is fully dependent on him. I admit this is less significant that it used to be as several commercial centres do not operate their own aircraft these days, but my point remains that the club really is a model that is fading away. The club that operates on a commercial centre taking care of the needs of the fun jumpers while the owner concentrates on the school/factory seems to be becoming more prevalent.
  2. Swoop really is an exception. I believe it is one of 2 clubs left in Canada that actually operate an aircraft. They are a two Cessna operation in a market with one twin piston and three turbine operators. I am sure there are some old timers that will stay for ever because it is their club and that's the way they like it, but I have to wonder whether they will leak new jumpers until they no longer exist.
  3. I don't know the song, but music performed by children in general; not such a great idea.
  4. Judging from your name I am guessing that you are a bigger guy. Sometimes the answer is to recognize that running is best left to those bean pole types. Although I am not that large, I have found over the years that my feet, legs and knees are just happier if I do other types of cardio.
  5. More "reaching across the isle." Nice to see.
  6. I routinely disconnect my RSL after deployment on tandem jumps. This has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with the economics of repacking the rig.
  7. Since the US gov uses the treasury branch as an organized crime fighting force I agree with them being as armed as they want to be.
  8. I think a lot of alternative locations have historically emerged from this process. Much harder (more expensive) now than in the past to "just open our own place."
  9. When the socialists were in power in British Columbia they made it illegal to change the weather.
  10. My first rig had "reverse" handles. It was a 1979 Bullet. I was told that the manufacturer Mike Zahar would ask customers which configuration they wanted when they ordered. I had them reversed to the conventional configuration a couple of years later.
  11. Best justification for polygamy yet.
  12. Make the jumps, bug people to teach you to pack until they are sick of you, bug the DZO/CI to give you a job packing parachutes, work your butt off, become a star.
  13. I like watching sports on TV. Last night there was no game on. OMFG the regular pablum is moronic!
  14. From the Christian perspective cults have one or more of the following characteristics: 1. The deity of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is denied. 2. The atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross is not accepted. 3. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is denied. 4. The Holy Bible is not accepted as the complete Word of God to mankind. 5. The Holy Bible requires current supplemental works for modern interpretation. (not to be confused with study guides or translations) 6. The Holy Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is not accepted. 7. Membership requires a dedicated submissive worship of the leader instead of Jesus Christ. (worship the messenger instead of the message) 8. Overall faith is based on Scripture taken out of context. (snake handlers) 9. The concept of sin is not accepted. 10. Mankind can achieve oneness with God through good works. List of Cults Jews Catholics Muslims Buddhists Hindus Anglicans (Episcopalians) Mormons Russian Orthodox Greek Orthodox Basically everyone on the planet except some evangelical Protestants and, strangely enough, Rastas.
  15. Dubious. Before we all had PCs running Windows, the USA could start from scratch and land a man on the Moon in 8 years. Now we can't do it at all. The office staff required to run a business, hospital, museum or NGO does not seem to have been reduced thanks to Bill G., just the reverse, in fact. This ignores the gains that have been made in areas such as supply that are so ubiquitous that we forget them. Organizations simply accepted supply chain times that today would result in people dying in hospitals and NGO operations. The pace of scientific discovery has been aided by computer technology (yes some of it is Microsoft). Without it our materials use per unit would have driven the price of many items out of reach as the price of mining has risen enormously. Additionally some of those forgone savings would have been paid for by forgoing some of the health and safety gains we have made in the workplace. "Goods" such as this are often hard to quantify in the economy, but are still just as good.
  16. You are wrong. Atheism is not necessarily anti anything. I, on the other hand am anti-theist and yes that does encompass my anti-Christian beliefs. If you believe that all atheists are anti-Christian that puts you in the same boat that thinks all Christians kidnap children in Haiti (or all Muslims are terrorists).
  17. ???? Wouldn't it take 4 years in the house and 12 in the Senate?
  18. It's funny, that is a completely Mexican internal body that they call Mar de Cortez, but we call the gulf of California. It's kind of like the French renaming the Mississippi the Fleuve d'Arkansas.
  19. Yeah I fail to see how it is racist at all. Is Prince Charles actually AFRICAN?
  20. Damn Bill, I wonder how many realize how prophetic your post really is? Roger Daltrey said something or other on the subject.
  21. If it kept out the riff raff who would be the staff?
  22. My experience with squid steak is that it needs to be very, very fresh or it gets a bit acidic.
  23. Gotta admit, i wouldn't have listened to her tirade otherwise.
  24. Yes. Some people can't actually tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Are you talking about the people watching the movie or the Christians?
