  1. I'm surprised that the suspension is legal. In Canada it would not be. I could see where networks would say OK to give to one party and not to another. Employers should go to prison for that kind of infringement on democratic rights.
  2. Where did you find this Murray? All I can find is a font set named Onyx.
  3. Ok sweetheart, I'm not really sure what 67F is in civilized measurements, but I'm sure it will be just fine without pants.
  4. A few years ago a juror was convicted for having an affair with the defendant in a murder trial in Vancouver.
  5. Arch, relax, keep an eye on your altimeter, and have a good time.
  6. Did Prop 23 include a provision that the state government also suspend all their holier than thou policies against Alberta? We have unemployment too.
  7. I'm not sure how the vote will go but I know people are very concerned about it up north of the border. BC largely escaped the recession due to the Olympics spending, but this has the capacity to shut their largest export down. It will be like the dirty thirties.
  8. The answer should be elementary. The Chinese government is investing in American paper rather than rural economic development because they have decided that, on the margin, the return is better. Although that sounds like a standard micro answer it is in fact a macro calculus. In order to maintain a good marginal product of capital on economic infrastructure they must tend to the demand side of the equation; the American consumer. See WW Rostow on economic development, particularly the bit about the build up of capital prior to takeoff. The Chinese labour force is so large the will have to be in a continuous state of capital build up even while part of their economy is "taking off."
  9. Well, she was almost 5.
  10. The first time I went I could not schedule all the seminars I wanted. There simply was too much to see. You cannot attend any seminars with the floor pass. It is for the trade show only.
  11. It sounds to me you need to jump with those juniors who only know how to jump on their belly and teach them how cool belly really is. Who knows some of them may turn into senior belly flyers.
  12. I have a 1992 Vector II that has at least 3000 jumps on it and is in fine shape. However I don't think I could ask more than a couple hundred dollars for it. As Riggerrob said, the velcro needs to be maintained and the hook may indeed be worn out. If it is it is a very complex (expensive) replacement procedure. However just getting the rigger to patch over the old hook is viable. If you think you want to do a lot of freeflying you may want a rig with better bridle protection.
  13. I am so disheartened with American politics. When the Tea Party movement came along I was hoping it was sensible libertarian leaning folks taking the GOP back from the bible pounders. Sadly the movement was taken over immediately by them. It is so sad to see the history deniers having real influence in society. The forces of ignorance and darkness are truely upon us.
  14. I am not sure I am clear on what the marines actually do. The saw "first on the beach" points to the elite status they assume, but they seem to largely be assigned to mind bogglingly dull tasks such as guarding the nuclear materials on navy ships from other US servicemen or standing guard at the embassy in Ottawa. Any one have any real breakdown numbers as to what the marines are actually tasked with?
  15. This is also true if the workers at the slaughterhouse are poorly trained or motivated.
  16. If you are already in possession of the animal it is not hunting; it is farming. That said I see no reason why a high powered rifle cannot be used to butcher the livestock. It's basically a dude ranch.
  17. Huh? The majority of the jumps I have made at Lodi were organized by Bill. I haven't jumped there in a while but I don't think most of Bill's jumps are solos.
  18. Huh? This is a story that took place outside the US. No one did anything to a US service member before they left the US. BTW what does this have to do with social protest/riots in Paris and New York? Of course last time the revolution spread the other direction.
  19. I was on an AFF jump this summer that landed out. I landed a little further out than I might have because I took the time to get the radio out to tell the student that they were not going to make it back and to start making alternative plans. If I had just gone into brakes to make it back (or close) I would not have been on the ground until just before my student. Since we teach our students to take care of themselves I was not too concerned. Once on the ground my instructions were mild reminders of basics. He landed in a nice big field.
  20. One problem I can see with teaching students to push the risers together is it will increase the likelihood of it twisting up the other way. Pulling them apart ensures the risers spread after the last one comes out. I think teaching students to push initially and then pull is a bit too complex. It may however, be something to mention around the A license safety review or sport canopy briefing.
  21. Poor Baby. Try running three tandems at a time out of a 205 for a season or three and then see how you like the Otter seats.
  22. Heh,heh, heh, My instructors forgot the big red arrow on my third jump.
  23. WOW! Kind of out of the blue! I am having trouble getting technical info from your website; how large is the diameter of this tunnel?
