If the money trail argument is the only reason employees don't get sued, why did the gun control lobby not go after the gun manufacturers' employees? Disruption and distress throughout their nemesis' workforce would have been a legitimate goal for these people, yet they did not go down this road. You said it's harder to prove gross negligence when your abiding by the rules,...etc. if there is no waiver gross negligence is not required, only negligence of any degree; that is the point of having a valid waiver when you enter the courtroom.

Are you sure? I think that may depend upon the jurisdiction. When lawsuits go against (say) the McDonalds Restaurant corp. Why don't the lawyers name every employee of the corporation? Or at least every employee of the unit that sold their client the hot coffee that was hot? I am pretty sure that employees at work enjoy some form of immunity in most jurisdictions when operating under standard corporate conditions. (Lawrocket? You out there?)

Strong recommends that TMs wear medium loose jumpsuits and students wear medium tight suits. The number one job of a TM is no never get outflown by their student; I think giving students baggy suits is a bad idea.

Age limit in the US for foreign licensed skydiver
Andrewwhyte replied to Julho's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There are many DZs in the US that take underage tandems. I suspect that is the same group that would let you sign for a licensed jumper/dependent. Since the tandem manufacturers are pretty strenuous in their objection these DZs tend to be a bit shy about advertising here on that subject. -
Most Mexicans I have ever met display some signs of European ancestry. Why is it that non-white lineages trump white ones?

After Jorghe attacks Iran and North Korea (dragging Japan and China in) and Russia has no choice but to pick a side, then the war on terror will be a world war.

Processed cheese. That stuff is horrible.

Because it is another opportunity for the extemists to point and say, 'Look at America attacking the muslims again.' Besides the US is spread way too thin as it is.

I think the UN is the only body that can do anything about it. The US should financially and morally support the action, but their troops should absolutly stay out of this one. It might be a good mission for the Spanish or Italians to lead.

Sounds like mental illness. Here in Canada we do an unforgivable job of caring for our mentally ill. They are usually on the street or in the worst residential hotels. This sort of incident is far to common. The only difference is that the general population is rarely packing so it is left up to the police to come and shoot the poor bastard.

He is talking about YYJ (Victoria International). It not only has a tower but a remote Terminal Control Unit located in Vancouver. Getting permission to land there will be a tall order, but given the layout of the airport, maybe not insurmountable. Good luck Roy.

They had a fatal crash there a couple of years ago. Since then their insurance rates became a major obsticle. Combining that with the fact that they were a cessna DZ competing in a market with two turbine DZs and I think it just wasn't making any money any more. The land is for sale and I don't expect the runway will be used again.

Source: http://www.vdare.com/awall/death.htm Do you think that Mexicans who commit murder in the U.S. should face U.S. justice? Do you think a US serviceman who commits torture in Iraq should face Iraq justice?

Staff Longevity at Dropzones - an opinion
Andrewwhyte replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My employees are far from rich but they don't live below the poverty line. Their problem (and mine) is finding work in the winter. Those who go to the US successfully tend not to come back. -
I spent a bit of time in Mexico in the eighties. My experiences in TJ and Mexicalli led me to believe that Mexico is very nice once you get away from the border towns. After spending last winter in BCS My opinion about avoiding TJ now extends past Ensenada. I met quite a few people from both TJ and Ensenada who miss their old homes but will never go back.

Sadly Chilliwack did not open this year.

Montreal and Vancouver are definitely the two coolest cities in Canada to be in. UBC, however is by far the nicest campus in the country. Pacific Skydivers is located within reach of the city bus, which may make a big difference. It does not rain most days in Vancouver; it just seems that way sometimes. What you can expect during the depths of winter is days on end of low (1000') overcast. Compare that to -25C with a -40C wind chill. Perris and Eloy are way more accessible from Vancouver than Florida is from Montreal.

Should Reporters Go to Jail for Failure to Reveal Sources?
Andrewwhyte replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
The reporter should be prosecuted for printing secrets. Whether his/her knowlege is first hand or not every journalist knows that Grand Jury transcripts are government secrets. Shield laws should be specific to protecting journalists who are exposing illegal activities by the gov. -

Innocent Man Sent to Syria and Tortured, Probe Finds
Andrewwhyte replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
It's not as cut and dry as that. Mr. Araar carried duel citizenship; Canadian and Syrian. The fact that he was in transit to Canada when he was arrested in the US, denied his right to Habeas Corpus and sent to the other country he was a citizen of does however leave the US in a position of culpability. It seems clear that the US was doing Canada's dirty work sending this guy to Syria for the really dirty work. In US law if you commit a crime and your accomplice kills someone, you are culpable. US officials were guilty of breaking US laws (Due Process) and someone got tortured. I think Darius is right to criticize the US.
