Riser slap can be a bitch. That is a much bigger issue with the Strong system than UPT (narrower yolk). I do have one friend who got several stitches allong the bottom of his ear while wearing a frap hat. I have always used an open faced hat and put a frap hat on the student. The frap hat gives your nose protection from his head. Last year a riser removed my optima during opening (L&B replaced it, what a company) so I started using my Z1 full face. I thought it would cause communication problems but it hasn't.

I have no idea.

Seems plain enough. However I am curious to know what determines the end of the war. The commander in Chief declared "mission accomplished" more than six months ago. There is an internationally recognized government in Baghdad and the United States, I would presume, has exchanged ambassadors; they do not appear to be at war with the government of Iraq. Does Congress need to pass a resolution ending hostilities?

Try Robert A. Heinlein: (Paraphrased) 1) That which is good for you is morally superior to that which is not. 2) That which is good for your family is morally superior to that which is good for you. 3) That which is good for your community is morally superior to that which is good for your family. 4) That which is good for your country is morally superior to that which is good for your community. 5) That which is good for the species is morally superior to that which is good for your country.

High Fuel Prices are Sound Environmental Policy
Andrewwhyte replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Even if true, it's much easier to control one power plant than 50,000 cars. Cars have to move, power plants do not. And electric motors are much more efficient than gas ones. For an accurate comparison you need to compare the efficiency of the gas engine to the efficiency of the electric motor times the efficiency of the coal powered power plant. -
You can't hire writers to think this stuff up. The worshipers of the Gods Krishna, Shiva, Kali and the like have been writing about karma longer than your friend Yahweh has had his little cult going; it is hardly an atheist concept.

MR SPOCK: It appears random forces have operated in our favour. DR. MCCOY: You mean we've been lucky? MR. SPOCK: I believe I just said that doctor.

I'd prefer one of his smokin' hot angels. Umm, you mean like the one named,..Michael or Gabriel? I'm pretty sure the angels all have masculine names.

Well I am not a lawyer but I believe the rules of evidence only allow for the exclusion of evidence based upon the effect on the defendant or at least the subject of the hearing, and the parent is not the subject of a child custody hearing, the child is. I could be wrong.

Which part of what I said do you not agree with?

Crazy thing is the whole first jump class showed up on Saturday morning.

A search and seizure of property may be illegal but the protection of the children is not a criminal matter in and of itself. They still can use the evidence in a child custody hearing; the evidence is not used against anyone in particular, it is used in favour of the child's interest.

A few years ago we reported a stolen Cypres. Two years later it was sent in for its eight year. They contacted us without mentioning it to the owner who happened to be a well known and respected international competitor. It turned out that we had removed it from the rig and sold it to her some time before the rig got stolen and lost the record of the sale so we thought it was in the rig when it got stolen. So the short answer is yes, they keep track.

I was following you but I was talking to rookie.

Skydiving is a game. If you are not having fun, there is really no other reason to do it. Go do some climbing or something. Maybe you are done; there are lots and lots of people who do 500 jumps or less and are just done. The sky will always be there. On the other hand if you really are not done, but are just looking to restore the spark maybe this would be a good time to think about getting a coach or instructor rating. If you have your D why don't you go do a few 2-ways with some 10-20 jump, just off AFF peeps. Even if it doesn't turn out to do the trick you will be paying it foreward on your way out of the sport. I guarantee you you will not be complacent about the safety of those around you on those dives.

Take a moment and think seriously about it. It is not a question about what is easier to believe. It is not a question about what you want to be true, or even what would be nice or convenient if it were true; it is a question about what you actually believe to be true.

Emergency Bailout Experiences
Andrewwhyte replied to labrys's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So here we have a jumper with 500+ jumps who found an adrenaline level at which she stopped functioning. People are always so shocked and perplexed when students do not react to an emergency; there are murmurs about inadequate training. This womans reaction shows just how hard it is to judge who will react well and who will not. -
I think you missed Linsey's point. A lot of women are afraid that there are very judgemental people out there watching them and it makes them self conscious. PS Watch Gone With the Wind for insight.

Student Emergency Exit Training- One Handle or Two
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Instructors
Doing a static line program simplifies the matter greatly, because there is no choice in the matter; if you are leaving, you are going main. It is an advantage that the static line is a very fast deployment method; it is a disadvantage that if you only have room for one the main is not the more reliable. Adding complexity to the training as you progress is consistent with most aspects skydiving. The real kicker is the first jump training. -
Student Emergency Exit Training- One Handle or Two
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Instructors
Well, in that situation I would like them to go straight to reserve. The poll results do however indicate that there are different opinions out there. I have a question for you. You are in the classroom in a First Jump course; how many different emergency scenario/responses are you going to introduce with the reasonable expectation of performance under duress? -
You go ahead and enjoy your toy any time you like; you know we're a non-judgemental crowd here.

What a pile of sanctimonious shit. There is nothing wrong with the picture. Iwo Jima is symbolic of victory in a titanic struggle after arduous struggle and sacrifice; the editors are suggesting that the global warming struggle will be arduous and require great sacrifice. Whether or not you agree with their comparison is irrelevant. You sound like the Muslim crazies screaming for blood because someone dared depict the prophet in a cartoon. What are you going to do, issue a fatwa?
