Name the Countries that have Banned Off-shore Drilling
Andrewwhyte replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Why were tax dollars required to insure the oil companies got rich on this resource? -
Be very cool if it works out.

When you are using student gear you are somewhat limited as to what you can do gear wise. However you can mitigate the hard openings by making sure the leg straps are very tight and positioned as high on the thigh as possible. Just before exit give the leg straps a little tug up into the crotch; they end up there anyway but it is far better if they don't move there under tension.

Name the Countries that have Banned Off-shore Drilling
Andrewwhyte replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Canada, like the US, has a partial ban. Drilling is allowed in the Atlantic and banned in the Pacific. It is allowed in the Arctic, but is not currently occurring. That is about to change as their was a rights auction last week. There is environmentalist action but the local inuvialuit are in favour. -
Well, it is out of line, but way out? I think you have to consider the industry segment. It's a school of Rock. Reminds me of the time I was meeting with my boss on the Site of a major construction project. He told me they had had to stop a management meeting because a guy from the big telecom co. had started crying. "It was like he had never been yelled at in a meeting," said my boss. "He probably hasn't," was my reply, thinking about the cultural differences between a large telephone monopoly and construction contractors.

They are both promising to cut taxes. Has anyone mentioned the deficit yet?

You were late. Then you were late again. You got shit. Suck it up. Stop being late.

USA, Australia and New Zealand all have small minority native populations. Furthermore they have all the rights the rest of the population has. SA was denying political rights to the vast majority.

For some unknown reason this is only true outside Mexico. In Mexico Tacos are on a soft tortilla.

Terrorist? What defines a person as a terrorist?
Andrewwhyte replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
Suicide bomber going after a marine check point? Definitely not a terrorist. -
When I was ten I got a mono tape recorder and some blank tapes for Christmas. A friend's older brother recorded Dark side of the Moon on one for me. It was the first piece of music I ever owned.

I think Scalia wrote the dissenting opinion.

There you go - I knew someone would come up with something. For a logo, we could have a little red devil holding a trident, descending under a parachute, with a flaming hell down below. Uh, you know John pagans don't really worship the devil. That's just a story the Christians made up to justify raping their women and burning their crops.

Terrorist? What defines a person as a terrorist?
Andrewwhyte replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it is important to see the difference between a guerrilla and a terrorist. All terrorists are guerrilla fighters (no uniform), but not all guerrillas are terrorists (the French Resistance). If the French resistance used any form of intimidation or violence it would make it a terrorist act.... Have to disagree with you there. Using intimidation or violence does not make a terrorist. Using intimidation or violence against the civillian population would. Not sure here. If you are part of a regular force and use incognito tactics does that not make you a guerilla? -
Private pilots flying jumpers
Andrewwhyte replied to BillyMongilly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Then how do other DZ's make a profit charging the same rates? Is the TI jumping for free? When the DZ advertises to the general public and charges them for skydives, that is a commercial operation. There is no way I would believe that no one is profiting from charging tandems $220.00 a pop at that DZ. Derek Derek It makes no difference whether the venture shows a profit or not. It was a commercial transaction. -
I wonder how many people have actually heard that song ... if you haven't, you should. Hum bah HUH, Hum bah HUH, hum bah HUH

Actually my grammar book claims that the use of the comma when the semicolon is called for is the most common mistake in English grammar.

In Canada we are currently fighting that impression in the Federal Parliament. The stakes are rather high. -
Do you charge additional for someone to watch?
Andrewwhyte replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in The Bonfire
Has quite a different connotation here than over in GEAR AND RIGGING. -
Stropshire and Bigun, Thanks for that. I was however thinking more along the lines of Andy908's example. Anyone have any grammar books that indicate that that usage is either permissible or not?

I can certainly recall various labour leaders' comments that would fit. -
[kallend voice] So you're willing to have the elderly and poor starving in the streets? [/kallend voice] Beats having the young and rich starving in the streets. Can you imagine how obnoxious Paris Hilton and Britney Spears would be if they were starving.
