    I went over ten years before I lost a friend skydiving. I did lose skydiving friends to a car accident and a plane crash before that and I had five or six acquaintances go in as well.

    He fired you and is now attempting to prevent you from gaining employment elsewhere. If there is no written contract I would start by filing a small claims suit against him for whatever the maximum amount allowable in your state. Serve him (better yet, get someone else to serve him since you are not allowed on the property) and then call him and see if he still wants to play. If not tell him that a letter to your new employer retracting the threat will result in you dropping the case. If you did sign a contract with a non-compete, well too bad for you.

    Empuria is nice, but would not make my list. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Pitt Meadows, BC; Victoria BC; and Skydive Oregon all come in ahead of some of those locations.

    Rob did this to my Vector II about five hundred jumps ago. It works brilliantly.

    I really find this position baffling. Do you disagree with safety locks on firearms? helmets on football players? anti-lock brakes? All these things allow people to take more risks. Why would you make a different decision for a personal jump? Deciding not to swoop a landing for a tandem but to do so for yourself is understandable; there is a payoff for your increased risk. However an RSL is about safety and nothing but safety. There is no payoff from any decision other than safety. Your words pretty well re-enforce what I am trying to say.

    Bill I am jumping a personal rig with an RSL and no Collin's lanyard. Are you saying you recommend I disconnect the RSL? Since it is a Vector I will certainly take your recommendation under advisement.

    It really depends what you want. The largest DZ in the world is in Eloy, and there is a Cessna DZ about 10 miles away. Some people prefer it. If your profile is correct I would not recommend "DZ surfing." I would recommend picking a DZ and staying there until your student training is complete. Once that is done go to every freakin' one of them and give us a report.

    I could stall the thing really easy and it opened like shit. Huh? I used to stall the SET 400 on every jump just for fun. I have never succeeded in stalling the 366. Are you sure you are not talking about a SET 360?

    I have heard of students dying from landing in a spiral, but I cannot remember anyone dying from a low turn on a student canopy. On the other hand a first jump student died earlier this month from hitting an obstacle (power lines). I am not saying it cannot happen, just looking at what is the larger hazard.

    When I took my Vector cross-training I was told it was because the drogue has collapsed. By the time you make the decision you have a problem you are well on the way to tandem terminal (or collapsed drogue terminal); you are in a hurry.
