Why Are We Afraid to Tax the Super-Rich?
loumeinhart replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
Have you seen yours? I propose 2 questions to DreamDancer (He won't answer them) 1. What income level deems someone the "wealthiest" 2. What should their tax rate be? -
Why Are We Afraid to Tax the Super-Rich?

Who is "them" ? Is it an annual income level or is it more? -
I play the piano for a living. It pays the bills and got me through my twenties. Like any job sometimes it's awsome and sometimes it sucks. I tell my friends I want a 6am-4pm job Mon-Fri with benefits like health insurance and 401k. They tell me they want MY job. .. figures

Nothing has grown, appeared, materialized. I guess I'm just hoping something will appeal to me that didn't 20 minutes ago. -
here are 4 funny minutes summing up exactly what you said: LouisCK on Conan

cheat another 100' out of the pilot and exit over some "low ground"

I'm not sure that the Dems in general want people to be beholden. They are simply the party of "giving." Some just fail to wrap their mind around where the money is coming from. To someone who enjoys the liberty make everyday decisions on their own, it's flawed logic. From each according to his ability.... and now I have more posts than jumps

I remember a joke during the 08pres campaigns.. something about there was nobody showing up to McCain's campaign stops.. because they were all at work.

what if the plane was white and the pilot was cherokee? Seriously though I just took the Piper Cherokee from cnn.com yesterday. They could have easily gotten it wrong. Whatever it was, it isn't anymore.

I know right! Having my own IRS grumps (they don't like me either) the letter grabbed my attention until he jumped right over the fence and started crying from the the other side. >> ??

I was only about 2yrs old so no, I wasn't paying attention. You and I agree that tax recepits were high, and that's a positive result of tax cuts. Don't put words in my mouth
-
A federal tax cut will increase tax revenue. That's what both Kennedy and Reagan did. You're response to me will be something like this: "The tax cuts only benefeited the rich corp-facist fatcats and did nothing for the poor." I will pre-respond back: Through increased personal income and spending, the added tax revenue is like the government getting a big raise. And it's more money to spend on the social programs that you like so much!

The truth behind 9/11 (and the lies of Billy Joel)
loumeinhart replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
The song is called Miami2017 and the live version off of Songs in the Attic kicks serious ass. That was actually the first version I heard. Then I heard it on Turnstiles and it sucked. -

this is my favorite from GeorgeRussia a few months ago: crewkeith: hmmm. December 5th 3:30 am las Vegas Nevada. route 108 bus stop man approaches ME demanding money and brandishing a knife. i politely draw my trusty handy dandy kimber .45 and put a red dot on his forehead. he changed his mind. georgerussa: You'd be alive as well if you just gave him your money, as he was not trying to kill you.

newsflash for Lucky. You are not at the "whim" of any "corp." You might not know this yet, but you actually possess the right to trade your toil and time for compensation wherever you choose. But wait there's more... after you have collected your hard earned dollar, you have the right to spend it wherever you choose. I know that I speak blasphemy but it's true. Oh, and the long black list of businesses from mom/pop pizza shops to mega corporations who have failed are wondering why they didn't get a chance to control and ruin America..

Funny how you say that RW is rich/greedy. I know plenty of greedy people that are poor. I know plenty of wealthy people that employ people and give money to charity/church/community/family..and their ass is taxed to no end at the same time. Show me a poor guy that creates jobs... Do you want everyone to be poor? or do you want everyone to be rich? Pick

Say Something "Nice" About the Opposition . . .
loumeinhart replied to NickDG's topic in Speakers Corner
well said. On c-span the CBO was questioning an Economics professor named DR Reinhart. commitee members from both sides were civily discussing budget issues with respect to healthcare and debt. Sounded like Kent Conrad(D) doesn't want to spend any more money than the republicans! -
Say Something "Nice" About the Opposition . . .

I'll step up and say Dennis Kucinich, from my home state here in Ohio. Congressman Kucinich doesn't need an introduction from me. He takes a very liberal position on almost every issue and I happen to disagree wtih his policies. Kucinich is no stranger to local radio. And mind you since AirAmerica left 1350, the only left-leaning talk is NPR. Otherwise your choices are the townhall.com crew on 1420, or Beck, Rush, Trivisonno, and Bob France on 1100, of which the latter 2 are locals. I've heard Dennis answer some tough questions during a brow-beating session fromTrivisonno or France. Sometimes even one-worded answers that you would not expect from a politician. So I think the man is pretty much wrong on everything, but I respect him for never trying to change his answer, backpeddle, or answer a question with another question. The guy has conviction. -
