Contemplating buying my first rig

Dude, I weigh 10 lbs more than you do. I started out on a 260, have 16 jumps, and am now jumping a 200. I am in the process of buying a rig with a 175, but will sell that and get a 190 to fly for a while. If you found a sweet deal with a 210 (what size is the container? can you downsize a few canopies in it?) I'd say go for it, provided a rigger can inspect it. -
I've only done so once. I let it run for three days, it was close to "use it or lose it" time, and they wouldn't let us take any time off due to near end of quarter. I called in for three days in a row as I was very ill. That was several years ago, though.

I wasn't criticizing in the least, was merely dumbfounded that any USPA certified instructor would graduate a student without properly teaching them how to keep from breaking a leg (or worse) on a hard landing, let alone have them get in a plane. Precisely my point.

What is the need to approve them? They are there to keep you from bumping your head, not save your life. You aren't going to slide across the road at 80mph, but rather hit it at 150+. A helmet won't save you there.

I too think it's a fucking insult. When I was active, the black beret was coveted by Rangers. I was Infantry, so this was always a big thing for us. We had the camo hats, so when I first saw that everyone had a black beret, I couldn't believe. I had to at least go to Ranger school to even see several in one place. Now you can see that at the PX. Lose them.
