hey, you started it, there missy, don't play innocent. but - if the nipples are there..... :)

easiest thing to do is follow Kelly's directions :)... our team has charcoal jumpsuits (actually -- www.teamjetstream.com has our picture, that's easiest). Sunday will be a very busy day (fist day of competition).

there has got to be SOME incentive :)

anyone going from Phoenix to Eloy Thursday morning? If so would you swing by sky harbor airport and pick me up? if so, I'll buy you a few beers after we arrive safely.

Nothing wrong with posting your opinion, just be aware that if some one else has a differening opinion, they may state it or call you on yours. If it gets personal, well then, that's not good, but a heathly debate about something is fine in my book as long as it doesn't turn into name calling, which I don't think it has. The way I look at it, these forums and all those like it are like little editorials, or letters to the editor you can respond to almost instantly -- which in some cases is good or bad depending on how fast you type and hit the send key while still in an emotional state :). post your opinions, it's all good.

we were just happy that's all it was - it was an u-g-l-y hit

in reply to.... "he always seem to catch me as I'm doign somethign stupid though" ummm Stacy, some things are better left unsaid.

I know some folks replace risers when the line sets are replaces as a rule -- depends on which flavor you are jumping, too (mini or not). for line sets -- check with the manufacturer.

is when you take the person to the "pie" and not the "pie" to the person.... http://www.teamjetstream.com/ -- go to the images section, the pics are under the "25mph gusts" link (last one on the page)... it's pretty funny. hopefuly our camera guy can get the video up soon. on a more somber note, there are more world trade center pictures (and some video), same site, but they are in the background.. http://www.teamjetstream.com/wtc

ditto - thanks for saving me a bunch of typing. let's see George got in trouble with patent infringement with the FX.... why would he want to go down that road again?

Chuck, I'm not debating Dan's techinical knowledge -- (he is an instrument engineer BTW) -- I am also an engineer, in fact,I desgined part of an aircraft wing for a senior project many moons ago. Dan is speculating on the split bewteen Icarus and Precision. If he wants to point out techinical problems, excellent -- please do it... it will educate others. Please also give a link to supporting data -- what were the conditions, what was the baseline, what were the vaiables held constant, what were the variables allowed to change, and what were the results of those changes-- now that an engineer would have if they were doing design and testing. All I ask is that he provide that data to back up his statements, and don't speculate on a business arrangement between companies that he doesn't know. I don't have an axe to grinds with either comnpnay, Cobalt makes an excellent canopy, I've flown a couple. all I ask is present facts and not speculate on stuff that really is not relavent to the issue.

To answer the question (my opinion, I have no connection with them) -- they feel they are good as long as they are in trim. They want to replace all spectra lines with vectran to help keep them in trim. I make that opinion from talking with the facility in Sebastian.
-
Sorry - faster turn rate -- slightly slower fall rate. the turn rate speed happens cause you're already loading up pressure on the air. The slower fall rate is because you are pressing down into the wind to make the first part happen.
-
That's what I thought, too, that's why I said south Fl, just wasn't exacly sure. From the arial shots, sure looks like it's near the keys.

Tunnel testing is fine, every competitor checks out the other guys product. shoot, Icarus has a wind tunnel they test designs in. Dan could present his case in a different way, he is speculating, present facts, and have dta to back it up. Wind tunnel testing is one thing, knowing what you are seeing is another.
-
because spectra shrinks to a MUCH greater extent than vectran. the shrinkage will bring the canopy out of trim - like any other canopy made in the world without regard to manufacturer. The Crossfire is much more intolerant of the out of trim condition.
-
Leave it alone Dan, you're a competitor, I always hated it when someone selling to me slammed the competition. tell me how good your stuff is, let me make my own decision. Don't put down the competition, makes you look bad.
-
Dan, if one wants email, one should put an email address in the profile..... anyway email me on that tunnel would you?

believe it or not the mantis is slightly slower, by pushing your elbows down and bringing your arms in a little, you're actaully grabbing more air, that's why it's faster, puts you a little chest/head high and is slightly slower. The typical boxman postion the elbows are ear high, the mantis elbows are pushed down into the air.

I haven't jumped one, but knowing how my current Mirage fits and functions (excellent). I have no doubt that the added articulation point will already improve a good design. From what I understand, they've changed a couple of other things, too. I would buy it -- the design is solid, and the flexibility will be outstanding.

actually - I came up to witness first hand, two people that ended up sleeping in an apartment lobby on the marble floor after they got lost riding the subway in manhattan :) the cake was merely another entertaining event. I almost unpacked my main, just to give him something to do for 5 minutes.

I think that that movie was shot at a south Fl DZ. Cutaway was shot at DeLand (for the most part). That wind maker, I think, came from the OLD Z-hills DZ (phoenix or something like that), it was set up down by the keys somewhere, actually if you watch the credits, it'll give you a rough idea where. It's just a motor spinning a DC-3 prop.
-
the wind followed me home. it's blowing 25-30 and raining off and on, makes me feel like I've got a black cloud following (or at least a giant fan). At least you didnt' have PJ following you around the DZ making an "L" symbol on his forhead for me asking - you came all the way up from Florida for this.....

Dan Poynter's book , I think co-authored by Mike Turoff is pretty encompassing from an early days standpoint.

ahhhh that's Bull Crap. you can start to fly mantis at any time. It is more of an unstable flying position though. -- but you can move faster, so there is a trade off. If you are comfortable in the air, fly it! I started getting coached in the mantis position with less than 200 jumps (ironically by Boxman - who flies mantis, go figure). you fly a little head high vs. the Box position, but you have more range of motion. The tunnel is definately an excellent way to learn -- repetition is the key to build muscle memory - the tunnel will definately give you that. Coaching is also important. Doug Park , Joey Jones, Aispeed camps - they all provide excellent coaching (Doug and Joey are a lot less expensive and they are local)
