  1. one of the more recent issues of Skydiving mag had a pictoral on the "anti-monkeyfist-bunch-up PC". It is pretty self explanatory
  2. I wouldn't sign this petition, there is actaully an e-poll out there (It is on the parachute history web sight). individual concerns can be brought to the appropriate members of the comp. commitee also. This un-named individual has some personal gripes it appears. The petition does have some points that should be debated, but overall I would not support it (line item veto would come in handy on this one
  3. I know that, somewhere 4way came up, and that's what I was responding too :)

    fall rates

got to throw this in.... and Bev Suits has an even better design than Merlin
  5. of course they recommeded it -- it puts money in their account!!!
  6. I agre and disagree, while 4'99 is OK and whows where you need to be for different things, Airspeed does some things differently in their exits a novice team wouldn't do. Plus if you're new to the whole 4way thing, it will be very hard to "get" at first. a skills camp with the video to go along with it is the best of both worlds. Of course depending on the coach, it could be different that the 4'99 tape, as that tape is Airspeed's continuity plan for THAT year. Airspeed is selling a "best of" tape that may actually be better.
  7. I know that, the question was how many people can say they've flown in a DC-3, I posed the similar question for a tri motor.
  8. semantics: 9x3 = 27....etc. if you take the open area as a "cell" than there are either 21 or 27. if you take the way it was developed (7 or 9 cell with angled ribs) then you can look at it the other way. right?
  9. Perris nationals there were enough Ranch jumpers to put up a Ranch big way out of it. Fun stuff... hey how many people can say they flew a Tri-motor?
  10. there's some crazy/funny/wild stuff of course it's never been stretched over time :)
  11. you know, there is probably something you can learn from an "old-fart" especially how to swoop a big way... had to be pretty good at that on a big way out of a 3
  12. vx = 27 cells fx & PD velocity = 21 cells
  13. you need to measure the lines to accurately guage when they need replacing. I'm sure Dan would give you the specifics. Line shrinkage depends on variables so putting a specific jump number on it is difficult. but if you want to spend the $$ and re-do the lines as a preventative measure, that can't hurt either.
  14. Well, if you happen to run into Mike McGowan ask him -- he was saved by a tree limb from a PC in tow he cut away from. The exact thing that Bill described happened, the main risers caught the slider, pulled it back UP the lines effectively choking the reserve. LIke I said before there are Pros and Cons to each argument -- stay around the sport long enough and you'll see why.
  15. and it's not square... cord doesn't equal span
  16. I'm not Andrea -- dont' even remotely resemble her, but -- last I know the Holiday Inn is like $59 per night skydiver rate. The Comfort Inn (which is right next door to it) is like $55 per night (and is newer). I know people staying in the bunkhouse, it's not bad in a communal living sort of way. Daytona is like 15 miles away also, but if you are coming during race week, make your reservations a month ago! (not sure when the dates for either event are)
  17. yes that makes more sense... I use three fingers in the toggle and two on the front riser dive loops so my toggle is secure.
  18. Out there somewhere -- Wendy Faulkner maybe? -- there was a beer rules rule book. I believe NCB numbers were issued once uppon a time also (NCB= No Cheap Beer). when to pay, what is required, etc. poeple say green bottles as a rule, but I prefer brown (sam adams, Erdinger, warsteiner, Bass, Harp).... anb while I'm at it -- I would vote DeLand for the best selection of beer on tap and in a bottle.
  19. actaully that is true, from what the tech guys in R&D told me anyway (we never went to market -- Dow did and it about shut them down)
  20. depends on drag, surface area, yadda yadda all that stuff.. if you can get yourself a copy of "Break_Away" you can see Billy Weber pulling on a PC in tow. I doubt there is 70 pounds of force along the line seeing how he could move it pretty good.
  21. true.... also the lube you're supposed to put on the yellow cables -- those cut away thingies.... is silicone, I hope it doesn't get sticky!!! (it won't if it's true 100% silicone)
  22. then is wasn't true silicone... probably only a certain % silicone.... silicone is very stable over a wide temp range. sorry it got off topic....
