  1. Silicone does not become sticky at 10 degrees. Silicone was developed initially as a very low temperature gasketing material, from there it has grown into may different things one is a very good low temperature lubricant. I work for a very large silicone manufacturer.... (no we don't make those)
  2. ummmmm, some engineers can count higher than five.....
  3. my original answer wasn't good enough?
  4. so "everyone" know better than the manufacturer? how long would you have tracked before initiating procedures? What about the pack job, maybe you got the canopy more bunched up in teh middle adding just that little more tension on the closing loop which was enough to tip the scale the wrong way... 20-22 psi is pretty high for a main pin pull. to cut away or not cut away a PC in tow -- every one has a valid argument either way. you must decided what to do -- it's your butt up there. (since you asked, I would have reached back and pulled the pin myself, if that didn't work, reserve. I'll deal with the two out.)
  5. I think typically they want a "finders fee" for gear.. of course Marc's was a different circumstance. I know people who live in teh tent/bunkhouse and dont' have a problem. tell you what, if I do see it, there will be some questions.
  6. I'm having some real deja vu here....
  7. what happens if UR doing CrW and are in a wrap? I'd want to be able to drop one of those suckers quick. I like holding my toggles in my fingers for two reasons, If I'm all the way through and I front riser to a flare, how do I know the flare is going to be even?(one toggle offset on the wrist?) and it actaully let's more brake line be free when using front risers
  8. I'm sure you could get *someone* to change it for you...
  9. (let me preface this by saying I compete on an advanced 4way team and absolutely love it)... many of the exits are similar i.e point always goes up and out, tail down and away, etc.... instead of buying 4'99 (which is a little dated now), go to a 4way camp (not addressed to Paul, just in general) -- you'll learn the technique, slots and where you need to go faster, plus you get to spend your money jumping!!

    mantis

I'll see if I can find any pictures, but try this.... palms facing out (away from you), elbows slightly bent, touch your thumbs and pointer fingers together (makes what looks to be like a triangle), now lay down on the floor and put your arms in the same position -- your forearms will be on the floor, your shoulders won't... that's pretty much it!
  11. cool, don't be worried, it's not that big a deal.
  12. yeah, saw a video the other day of a guy who filmed a deployment flipped on his belly, looked at his alti (way, way in the red) and dumped his main, as soon as the main started to inflate there's a nice reserve behind it. He was low enough you could clearly read the sign on the building below him... he landed in that parking lot. Of course then there's Frankie from the Ranch....
  13. first week in March eh? let me know where and when. Nice pics from the end of year party. Hey I'll be stoping by CK's on Sunday on my way north to drop off the creepers, you going to be around?
  14. oh and I'll leave that "good girl" comment TOTALLY alone!!!
  15. I couldn't find you I thought you left, I took the loop around and didn't see you so I went Christmas shoping, sorry. yes I do crack myslelf up
  16. 65 and I'll owe you 4? I'll probaly be here through March
  17. yeah, well, you're supposed to be spotting for yourself on those accuracy jumps as well... unless you're learning at a cessna DZ, have you even learned to spot?
  18. if you check out the picture of the cessna on that page (http://www.freefalladventures.com/main_exp.html) -- that paint job is going to go on all Cross Keys planes (well, last I heard that was the plan anyway). Also the plan was to have Frankenotter repainted, too may ramp checks when it's ferried around the country. Although it was in Florida a few weeks ago and still looked.... ummmm the same.

    "Going Low"

nope, that is correct. you find yourself below the formation, cup air, ride the beach ball, do the dead spider, whatever it takes to try to get bck "up", until breakoff. it is hard to define a "safe" distance shoot, you could be tracking right into the group that left before (or after) you. Not a good idea. another little trick - if you're wearing booties, do a toe tap (so you're making an "A" with your shins, the inside of the booties will catch copious amounts of air and slow you down - works pretty good.
  20. small, people get all worked up over verticals, the moves really aren't that big. The air will feel bumpy, and that freaks people out into making these huge moves, and then they wonder why they're so far away (or why they just smacked the tunnel wall really hard
  21. OK, in addition to what Bill said... (he doesnt' remember I'm sure, abut a few years ago we made a jump and he got to practice verticals with me as a base, since I had no clue what I was doing....).... make sure you stay flat going over. if you pitch your body, you will be in a dive when you get to teh other side and will end up low. here's a couple of drills we use in the tunnel: side body to half star (i.e you side body someone, go over their back and pick up ther arm gripper and present your other arm to an imaginary friend.), side slide to the side body and go back to teh other side. repeat until time to go. stairstep to half star -- instead of side body, have a stairstep grip (both people facing forward, you have a leg grip), go over the back and forward to the same half star as previous. star to cat. face off in a star, go vertical and land withcat grips (where ever you can get them). the person laying base snaps a 180, and you do it again. the person laying base must work with you, you give a tug on the grippers to help get you moving, the bae person will side slide/move forward/move back depending on which drill you're doing. if you are confused let me know and I'll try to explain a little more.

    mantis

OK, that picture is a poor representation of the mantis position. have someone toss a football at your face, where do your hands go and how are they postioned? this si where you want them to be. you're also going to push your thighs into the air a little so you will be shoulders high. do NOT de-arch.... you need to still be pelvis down. otherwise you will wash around in the sky. you are in less of a balanced position cause your base of support has been brought in a bit. you do not want to pull your arms in, you need them to create surface area to turn. you are "pushing" on the air more, which wil slow your fall rate down a bit, but you will have built up energy for turns when you re-drirect the air... you also need to get your legs involved in the turn. Come on down to the tunnel in Orlando and we'll get it all straight!!!
  23. yes, but looks aren't everything.
