well, the soft handle can also fold under the harness, too. I witnessed an incident of a fast spinning mal, which was cut away, but the jumper could not get to the reserve handle very easily. I thought he was going in -- he was that low. vector rig, and he had turned off his AAD. luckly he was able to get something out, doubt he had time to unstow the breaks.

Paul Fayard is the owner, it was in Cross Keys the majority of the last two years. But they bought their own otter now (which was also built by the same folks who did the Franken) - to go along with the skyvan, caravan, biplane, 182, occasional hot air balloon and helicopter rides. Anyway, the plane travels around to whomever will lease it now.

I believe right now a normal glide ration is in the 3:1 range for a regular 9 cell.
-
soft pud type handle won't snag as easily on a shoe, toe, other rig, plane parts as the open handle. downside -- if your left arm is hurt, harder to pull with the right arm.
-
yes - especially in smaller formations.

I set my protrack off once setting up for a landing (snap front riser), it'll make you definately wonder what happened
-
I was in one a couple of weeks ago that took about 10 feet to get off the ground, he kept it at like 10 feet till it got fast enough to climb, pretty cool. dont' let anyone tell you the otter can't do a barrel roll either
-
yeah, sure, just like 10 way?
-
that plane is rock solid and FAST! I would rather be in it than some of the nice paint jobs ones I've jumped from! When the pilot can hover the plane you know it is built. (major flaps, lots of power, just hovers there)
-
well, there's only 1, go to www.freefalladventures.com there's some pics on the Cross Keys site

I was skiing in Vermont, it was more of a general question
-
yup, was asking you, just curious if I had run into you an not known it.
-
benefit of the doubt....
-
up to 7,500 feet it's faster, above that they climb about the same. The new one has re-inforced wings to take the additional torque the turbine can develop. less than 18 minute turn arounds are a beautiful thing (although it does keep the packers really busy).
-
which DZ you hanging at?
-
I believe it is 5 planes, one of them being the old Skydive Chicago otter that caught fire one night.
-
unless you've got it in your car and you're traveling over hilly terrain, then the CYPRES could be in active mode and will use more power. It does turn off after 14 hours. so if you're staying at the DZ, go ahead and leave it... a word of caution. If you're doing night jumps and you got to the DZ early in the morning and got going, you may want to cycle it off and on again.

please elaborate on the purple thong.... thank you
-

the rules should be made clear and consise and everyone held to the same standard. that's been the issue (IMO) the last couple of years. Tim Wagner has some good thoughts on it.

before betting the ol' paycheck be sure to read the posting from precision

no you wouldn't -- the rule is 25% of the team (or one member if 4way obviously) can have medaled in that or a higher class. So you can form that team and do any class you want.
