  1. aw comon you can see more than that just turning on MTV!
  2. new or used? year made? how many jumps on it?configuration of A/B lines?
  3. My experience in teh agriculture industry is that time doesn't matter, cows get milked, horses fed, land tilled when the sun in shining, no clock involved. It does make it easier for Suberbia to get those little league games played and such. And statistics have shown that there are more vehiclular accidents when the clocks are changed back cause everyone is driving home in the dark all of a sudden and not used to it.
  4. I dont' think it prevents it, you just have to learn how to make it work, like anything else I suppose.

I know.... and to think he also wanted to do a naked skydive, which is OK, but it was just with me at the time.... luckly he decided against it....
  6. I got a Mirage Unisyn and I noticed that the chest rings promote a more even harness loading on deployment, judging from how my velocity behaves from one container to the other (regular G3 vs. Unisyn). the downside is you can't load the canopy with harness inputs, but since I liek the idea of better behaved openings, that's not a bad thing. Anyone else notice this? I was over there the other day, mentioned it, and they agreed, so I guess it's not my imagination. I do really like the Unisyn, too, very comfortable around the shoulder/chest area. Makes those gymnastic type 4way exits a little easier to contort.

well, the rules say no can see the points, no get credit for points (one reason camera is important and should be considered part of the team and it's performance). and the rules also say the team does not have to leave the aircraft if there is weather -- allowed a go around, then a plane ride down. ahhhh the days of Sebastian nationals.....
  9. ok this reminds me of another college days prank... we used to make a float for the homecoming parade (don't laugh it was a blast). anyway, the first year we made the float we had pyrotechniques, and by accident it burnt down (no, really, it was an accident). The next year, we only felt it necessary to keep the tradition alive... the floats are all made out of tissue paper, well, we had some firecrackers and lit them off, to my dismay they didn't lite the thing up, so we had to help it a little, well, It got kind of big and I tried to put it out (the fire), but the dry powder extinguisher only had some sort of compressed air charge in it. turned into quiet the inferno -- we we lucky to get out of it before it toatlly went up in flames... very fun
  10. I know a couple of women skydivers who just crack themselves up with odiferous emissions on the ride to alti.

    comp classes

What class you decide to compete in should be determined ny what goals you have as a team, what your comfort level is and how much you are training.
  12. toxic, combustable, flammable chemicals -- all in a days work for me! (well, before I was moved to Florida -- most stuff here is waterbased). We had auto-ignite chemicals, that would lite up when you walked on the dry powder residue. it also decomposed into gasseous HCl, not to metion the 10,000 pounds of hydrogen we keep on site to burn other stuff -- fun at 2000 F!!

25% of your team can hold a gold medal in that class for you to participate. I say bring on Tiewaz, let them defend thier title - as long as they are not a full time 4way professional team (or have a member that is). I suppose that would rule them out though, too -- cause Kurt is a full time 4way professional
  14. unapproved by who's decision? Technically I think the container manufacture can say what an approved modification is, not the owner (unless they carry a master's ticket or happen to work there)

    comp classes

I thought I start a new thread -- UPSA/NSL/Collegiates etc competition classes. I agree that Kurt probably has 1 to many classes -- IMO it should be similar in structure to the USPA. Actaully, taking out the rookie class I think would make it close (although AA doesn't use the full dive pool I don't think). The biggest season meet (FSL meet 3) didn't have full participation in all the classes, he may need to re-think the split. I do agree with his idea of giving people new to 4way a chance to taste competition and not be overwhelmed with the dive pool (Piver/viper - what's a PIVER anyway?) I think the USPA made a large mistake in using the full dive pool for intermediate, which they rectified. As far as open/advanced. I would suggest a rule change that only allows non-"proffesionals" to compete in advanced. They are wel known and easy to identify, so no one could really sandbag that easily anyway. my $.02 Dave JetStream - Inside center
  16. responding to: "Ether engine start spray also works really well though." yeah, that stuff is DA BOMB! (literally). I hear ya on the pyro thing. we used to build model boats, cars and planes, then put glue on them, and have a battle, of course when they got "hit" you lit up the glue, which would also lite up the plastic. the imaginary artillery fire of course was very early (typically before the model even dried).
  17. the old hairspray works for flamethrowers, too. some people say farts can have the same effect also.
  18. I was impressed with the amount of fuel the new Shuttle enginees use... not to mention the horsepower they produce. Inside a main engine, it's hot enough to boil solid iron. Engineers have been testing new ways to keep shuttle engines from flying apart during the 8.5 minute blastoffs for years, and the latest and best engines are now mounted on Atlantis. Inside the engine is a new fuel pump, 100 pounds heavier and far more robust than the old. During launch, these pumps have enough fuel to drain a family-sized swimming pool in 25 seconds. They are the heart of the engine, and the new pumps in these new engines have fewer welds and fewer parts, making them less likely to come apart as they produce the 37 million horsepower the shuttle requires.

  20. big hands too.... all it means is big shoes big gloves . Some others may add to that as appropriate, but I don't like to brag.
  21. anyone is a pretty big statement, there are plenty of loaded canopies out there that will twist up like a barber pole and spin like a top.... I saw three in a month, 2 resulted in a cutaway (not me), one I was able to kick out of. No RSL's were involved YMMV
