at 1 time I had about 200 jump with 4 rides and three years in a row it was memorial day weekend (I think I'm gonna stay away from memorial day -- bad things happen in my life on that weekend come to think of it). I've got a much better percentage now... I do know of 1 guy who had three rides in three days (he was trying to learn to pack a velocity -- obviously without much success)

having been on said plane, I will refrain from any comment....

we were first out on the second pass at 13,500 (one group out at 10.5), solo and some student's/tandems behind us. We do our four way thing, we dump, I look and notice a much bigger canopy than on our team in the middle of our little (little--metaphorically speaking -- we get good separation

were you there? cause her team mate was and he said it was a very normal landing, nothing out of the ordinary, just a fluke thing, and I'm sure she's had more landings than you now.

I'm going to address this to everyone who responded to the initial question. While it is OK to speculate on this type of mal, and what you can do to prevent/correct the situation, you were not there to see this actual event, so I would ask that you not speculate on the particular event. The male in question was my team mate, we had made the last 800-900 skydives together, I flew within 25 feet of him under canopy and could see there was an issue. Why it would not release no one will ever know. He had landed the canopy in this fashion more than once. why he dind't choose to cut away is pure speculation. I have my theories but they are just that. If you have specific questions, please PM me. thanks. dave

pulling on rear risers during deployment to inflate cells?
weid14 replied to Newbie's topic in Safety and Training
rear risers do help with closed end cells to get them open, even with brakes set. be careful doing turns on opening with a highly loaded canopy, also, that could really make your day interesting. -
OK, I will stay out of this but I AM laughing so hard (I guess I shouldn't have said hard, huh?)

door latch on the right as looking towards the cockpit, right....

I can usually make change for a ten, but anything more than that is usually difficult unless I have my shoes and underwear off.

if it's free it's for me! dont' know what these bags look like, I'll take a look Thursday or Friday when I'm out there.

right, its something SunPath is trying, Majik is getting them today to check out.

yes it has been an interesting journey so far.... looking forward to being in the same plane at nationals.... If I come out are you gonna make me do it?

well IMO, copywrite material has to be labeled as such (check out Mike Skeffington and Chris Norton's sites)... in actuality, if someone is making money off the video, and they are using music on it that is not theirs w/o permission, and they are not paying a royalty, that is copywrite infrigment, too.

if they only knew the Texas-accent Asian chick who is also a hot skydiver!
-
basically what I remember reading about that is to twist the risers in the other direction with your haands, get the links even, then kick out, not sure how long that would take though, and if I would take the time to try it, things happen way fast under those canopies (as you know )

probably best person to ask is Dr. Joel at nature's care eye center (they have a web site). he's an eye doctor and jumps so, he might give a better answer.

blue skies sister but it's all good

That's cool, I grew up across the lake (champlain) in NY, graduated with a class of a whopping 9!

Not really, Thomas Hughes -- who is on Sebastian XL right now and just did a 20pt average had 75 jumps when he won gold at the US nationals 2 years ago. Learnign to fly in teh tunnel gives you a feeling for the air, they can do anything with that air, Some of the folks at teh tunnel can track better on their knees than some can in a mad track.... canopy skills, well that's a different story.

I really dont' know what the big deal is, shoot -- years ago when poeple learned, they were on MUCH smaller canopies -- look at all the 21 and 28 foot high performance PC's they were jumping for goodness sake!
-
when a team does thousands of jumps together, they get to know and trust one another quite well, it's all good. I almost had the same chop a couple of weeks ago, felt the twists as soon as I hit line stretch, looked up as the canopy was opening, and went the WRONG way (duh) trying to correct... oops, then it started to dive, and I was like OK, he we go #5, but it leveled out, I kicked out of them and landed uneventfully (velocity 120 @1.85).

how does it compare to past conventions in terms of attendance, any pics from the air indicate it's not near as crowded as before, but it could be because the airport is bigger or some such thing.

good morning... sorry no jokes, I'm to tired, but it is my Bday, so that in itself is kind of funny....

I was specifically refering to the fabric of the container. but you are correct a very little of a solvent with soften plastic. However the red cut away cable is TFE -- very chemical resistant. I believe the yellow is a form of HDPE, again, very chemical resistant. It is accepted practice to use silicone spray lube, WD-40 and 3 in 1 (WD-40 and 3in 1 are both petroleum based products).
