  1. I find this statement interesting all of a sudden. why? because at a larger DZ once you're on your own (esp with the new progression), not many people are going to notice how you routinely land your canopy unless you ask them (or they're hanging out in the landing area watching). People may give you feed back if they are on the load with you and you do something idiotic, but for the most part, how much is someone going to really know (at a larger DZ) shoot, I bet the DZO's of most large busy DZ's don't even know who is going through their student progression.

    GRRRRR

and I bet they didn't wear make up either
  3. there's actually a whole website where this "artist" has been taking pictures of all these naked people -- he did that one, I can't remember the website though. I think another was by the eiffel tower, and a couple other places.
  4. if you're looking for shannon directly... spilch@earthlink.net is his email.
  5. I put a few jumps on a stiletto at 1.5 and the openings on my velocities (1.83 and 2.0) were much better, IMO.
  6. I guess the question is, why spend the $$ for that type of canopy when at that loading there are some really good canopies that don't cost as much. You'll have fun on it, but the crossfire, cobalt, stiletto, type of canopy will function just as well. why are you switching?
  7. if you land standing up, you dont' need the stuff but I told you already my vote for red top
  8. I have seen individuals under lightly loaded sabres get into line twists doing spirals, granted bury the toggle one way, then bury it immediately the other, settled down is a good option.
  9. well, I could say a whole bunch of things here, but I won't.....
  10. when you listen to the forecast, instert "less" for partly. so partly sunny is less sunny and partly cloudy is less cloudy.... there is a difference. believe it or not it's a certain percentage of cloud cover that gives you the various descriptions.

    Apology to all!

demo out of a 152.... three jumpers, you guys think it will fly? pilot... sure, it;s a long runway. (rental plane) long story short. plane through the fence across the road into some bushes. three skydivers and a pilot running for the car.
  12. immediately? try that on a heavily loaded canopy and see what happens (better do it up high though). you'll get a half a line twist if not more.
  13. Only a) more than one quarter of members who have won a gold medal in that class. At least they're trying to stop the 'bably killing'. Juggernauts had a real talking to by several Open competitors (read: Airspeed) on what they did at Nationals. I hope others take note. ltdiver oh, they've heard it from about everywhere....

    Occupations

hahahhahahaha the job sucks, I get it, hahahhahahahahah
  16. you couldn't rotate one out to stay in the lower levels, if you won the gold that is, then you'd have to rotate 3 out.
  17. larger reynolds numbers? that's talking dirty if you're an engineer and into fluid mechanics....
  18. Winsor jumps a racer -- main tray is easier to downsize in, although it gets ugly. Mirage and Vector are both making containers for large(r) reserves vs small(ish) mains. I know Mirage has them as standard on their website.
  19. was it a ragged out PD? if so it probably had a hefty amount of sink to glide ratio
  20. not a contradiction, you don't alter the pattern looking "down" on it (looks like the same "U"). think about it for a second, you can go 40 mph down wind, and also 40 mph back into the wind (on base, so it's relative, same as if you're going 20 mph down and 20 mph back they cancel each other out. the rate of descent might be a little higher, so you might start a hair higher. read Paul's post, he's better at writing explanations than I am.
  21. who made the container? and what year? oh, good job on the whole problem identification & resolution
  22. why the need to alter the pattern? except maybe vertically a bit. the canopy is going to fly faster -- in all directions, so you should be able to use the same references if you're doing the traditional downwind-base-final approach, with a faster decent rate, enter the pattern a bit higher, that's all. as you get to know a canopy it is all about intuition, it does take a few jumps, and you may land past your intended target if you start to high, but that is better than starting to low, start higher, work down but use the same approach. give it a try.
  23. what about the "I learned from my experimentation in the 70's..." comment, that one really cracked me up. I bet there could have been a successful big way there this year if he was so inclined
