good question, not sure when I'll be back around there -- maybe Christmas time? maybe an outside chance of Thanksgiving, but I'm thinking of staying in FLorida. (part of me wants to go up, the other part says -- 40 way sequential invitation!!!!)
-
[hijack] except for the last 3 weeks of rain? How's come a bunch of folks from Spaceland showed up in Deland over the weekend, so they could actually jump!

Turbine engines aint cheap but they are very reliable and don't require overhaul until almost double that of a piston engine. They are lighter so that you can carry more pax/fuel and produce more power (safety) and aren't suceptible to "shock cooling". They do have other limitations that pilots have to be aware of for sure. plus it is a heck of a lot faster than a caravan. a caravan lift is still a slow climb rate (In my experience), even though you're going higher.

wow -- the Herd? any way, if that's the case, you are screwed if you can't get the records of your previous jumps. A DZ isn't going to take your word for what you've learned, best bet is to try to get a hold of your JM and get him to fill everything out (I can't believe that he will be able to remember everything to write in there, either). Go to Cross Keys, you'll be happy there!

PD Blue went to Sunpath because RWS decided they weren't going to sponsor teams anymore. It's all about the money, the old addage "if it's free it's for me" applies, throw in some sponsorship $$ and there you have it. The Javelin is not the best rig on the market, best at marketing, yes, but not the best. it works, so do many others, it then boils down to personal preferrence.

depends on what is before those randoms, there is more than K and Q, they lend themselves to different slots and shapes more than the C in my experience, I can only recall one or two times where we would build the C with tail on OC, in general you want to keep piece partners together.

so that's why Hunter's canopy was all wet

ok, I'll play 1(cutaway from a spinning line twist):14:0 (I bought beer anyway) 14 kick but jumps 8 4way on Saturday and 6 8way today (thanks for playing Arlo!)
-
yes we call a swing move one in which you take a maybe longer, maybe weird move back to your normal slots so you can do the block in the more comfortable position.

Does freefly experience REALLY translate into RW skill?
weid14 replied to Jessica's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
well, judging form some of the results I see when we put bigger ways together with free flying brethren (not a hybrid), it doesn't help -
sounds like the dude became like a frightened tandem passenger and grew a bunch of arms and grabbed what ever seemed to help within reach. to funny.
-
oh my .... the thoughts of Arlo and duct tape..... oh wait, nevermind....
-
I can't believe how much fluid got out..... I'm not going to be right for a little while...
-
I'll have to disagree with that.... if you undo the chest strap I agree with your disagreement...

Hey now Frost and Majik are going to be there, who else is there? (Parody not to be taken seriously, Before everyone rips my post to shred's. I dont think Frost is the best team, But they are good. Also Majik and Airspeed and the Golden knight's will be there. So the top 3 team's in America will be there). Oh yeah why no Jetstream Dave? No reunion meet to teach the people from National's what you guys could really do. Ray hahhahaha, nope, but I'm gonna lurk something I'm tellin ya!
-
that's funny, Billy Andrews was relating that story about that guy two weeks ago, I laughed then too, unfortunately for the guy it was a "Florida" day, too, right? nice and hot, but no shade on the roof and it took a little while for the trucks to show up.
-
oh, not unless you have to, the ground was really soft, and I sunk as soon as I put a foot down, had brand new white gloves for the meet... dirt everywhere, plus i had to walk back in front of everyone, who got a kick out of my newfound pig-pen look

Who's running the swoop meet? Is it a pro swoop tour meet? I'll be there competing either way. Also if you like swoop meets there's a big one November 16-17 at Fantasy of Flight. Its not to far from Zhills and should be a lot of fun, There's also going to be multi point 100 way's and all the best 4way teams will be shooting it out. skyquestflorida.com Hope to see yall there. Ray not every one of the best 4way teams, just a lot of them

hahahhaha, I know the feeling, Perris Valley, short spot freshly plowed dirt bowl. came in hot, took one step, foot stuck, I hit face first, and this the day before nationals, I had dirt everywhere. laundered my jump suit in the bathtub three times and washed my harness the best I could, my teammate coming in after me said it looked like Wylie Coyote on bugs bunny, pretty funny
-
well, since we took the swing to make the dive a repeater, Majik's engineering...
-
in my experience they don't -- the main harness is more flexible, the three rings want to stay level, the chest rings help that, if the three rings/links are level, in theory, your opening should have a better chance of being on heading.
-
if you're going to go big, the G4 with unisyn harness is extremely comfortable, when looking fora rig -- look at the details, what is the padding made of, can things be replaced easily in the field, riser cover sercurity, main pin protection, reserve pin protection, hardware type (look at the cable terminations at the end of the cut-away housings). those are the important things, and really only you can make the decision what's best for you. (I have 2 G3's, one with unisyn (chest rings), and one without, the unisyn design is more comfortable). Another thing to look at is harness design around the rings, and when you have the rig on and moce aronud, does the main lift web "pinch" right below the cutway and reserve handles (will that cause an issue, I'm not sure, but it is worth looking at).

sure, not knowing what's going on there, but the weather from about now till March is really bearble here and jumpable most of the time. (actaully florida is jumpable almost everyday unless there's a hurricane parked over head, even then it moves out pretty fast)

1. Yep, it's true. I've installed a pocket onto the lsider of a number of Sabre's to tame the openings. 2. It is possible. I think there are two "biggies" that cause hard openings, not keeping the slider upp against the slider stops, and pulling w/ a high fall rate. 3. Doesn't sound like it. Your new audible, was it a pro-track? If it was, what was your "2nd half" fall rate? Get a rigger to put a pocket on the slider and you won't have hard openings anymore. Hook My back -- like 4 years later -- is still sore from a sabre opening. I found that line stowes were very important, tight and long enough. that and rolling the tail with very careful slider placement. It is an unforgiving canopy in regards to packing.... actually after the canopy slammed me, I think I only jumped it a couple more times, I demoed a cobalt, bought a safire, crossfire, and now velocities, they all have opened nice for me.

oh, you take your point over on block 17, that actually is pretty unique way to do it as it leaves the tail out-facing, which is not normally where they are looking.
