So John's favorite toy is now the heli... he's lost interest in the red-baron bi-plane thing? when's the pitts special coming?
-
yeah for real, here's what ya do, start a bank account and put the same amount in every day that you would spend on smoking, see how many jumps you'll get come spring time!

I thought an iron deficiency was anemia? this I do know about blood, it is supposed to stay contained in your skin, unless poked with a big needle for giving blood purposes.

CA = way high cost of living (housing), way high taxes, way high cost to register a vehicle, way high gas prices..... but there is some nice scenery and weather. I would not go back to Florida voluntarily, way to transient a state. I really was impressed with the Charlotte/huntersville area of North carolina.

so everyone with a PDA would remember the skydive? that is up to each person and the organizer to make sure everyone has it. I wouldn't want my dues going to have someone sit and write code for various dives. By the way, it has been done for big ways and in color (print outs), but how the heck would you find yourself ona PDA screen for anything much bigger than a 6 way anyway.

a helicopter needs an hour of maintenace for every hour of flight time (roughly). The flyboys can't do that, they need a crew chief certified to turn wrenches and the like.

Everyone thinks it does nothing but rain here. At time it does (Oct - Mar; right now as a matter of fact ), but it's gorgeous otherwise and we have one of the best backdrops in the world in our backyard. I'll probably have to leave at some point, though. I'm retraining to be a helicopter pilot and the climate just isn't compatible with making a living that way. Bob HA, it has been sunny and georgeous here for 6 straight days. If it weren't for work I would have jumped every day. Of course this isn't doing the skiing any good either.... To answer the question. I'm trying out the Northwest right now, I can't decide where would be best. Maybe Whistler/blackcomb winter and New England in the summer....

hey don't get all defensive, it was a general tip sheesh.... but you should have done a practice exit as part of the dirt dive, right
-
so you want your dues money to go to developing a flash animation package to download to your PDA? wow. That would be a pretty big task. Ask Craig Buxton how many hours he has in the 4way CD... and that doesn't even link the formations.
-
oh now it's going downhill, bagel is in the house!!! you traveling with that rig? John has got way to many toys for one person

DiverDriver.com - 300way record (a pilot's view)

very cool.... can you imagine what it was like to fly formations in one of the world wars? -
Yeah, we were doing that but we had some people getting pushed down up front (hugs, you know who you are) and we didn't want anyone to get hurt. In the end it was all good and LOADS of fun oh it's all good, I was just throwing it out there for educational purposes...

just a tip.... people exiting behind the red line should start to move on ready and be right on top of the base as it leaves. it is safe to do so, and the divers have a much better chance of getting to the formation. also, the base out of a van tends to get flat quickly, so the divers have to be aware, other wise they go low.... Nice picture, though, and good timing with the camera on exit.

Just wait until you start landing a paracute as a newbie after you start downsizing. That's when the pride swallowing really starts! It's really bad when you look up, and the old-timers are flat out laughing at you! Fortunately, I'm past those days...for the most part. first off, I'm not that old, secondly really?

that's weird, I thought Vectors had them standard....

so now she wants to get back at the male population and trash some hearts? typical female....

a very specififc bridle routing? I have never heard such a thing. and what do you mean, closing it the wrong way? b,t,r,l? that is how I close most rigs, including javelin and mirage, even though the manufacter specifies otherwise and it seems to work well enough. well, if you look on the bottom of the main tray, they say specifically to route the bridle on the right side, routing on the left can cause a PC in tow.

you forgot skiing/snowbarding....

it was a purely economic decision to hold the nationals at the same time in the same venue. And not so much so for the competitors as the event staffing and the like. In theory this keeps the registration prices at a lower rate (for example, look at the registration price for the collegiates -- smaller participation, same fixed costs = higher registration $$)
-
The best part about that is that Jan has absolutely NO financial interests specific to a DZ. Sure, she runs a couple of little skydiving interests and web sites, but there isn't going to be any hijacking of Nationals because of Jan. right and larry hill won't try that either... suuuurrrreeeee. I am alright with this board (would have liked to see Max on it), I don't think Larry will be unbiased though. At least there are some competition knowledgeable BOD members now...

What are the Dangers of underloading a HP Canopy?
weid14 replied to Viking's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Give Skydive Chicago a call and ask their experience with that loading on that canopy, they used to use them in light loadings in their canopy progression.
