lead poisoning, eh? I would have thought the edged weapons would have had a lead, but can't argue with a physics professor. The US is not a knife culture. It is a somewhat violent culture, but blades are not the weapon of choice. Knives are deadlier than firearms in that if you are attacked by one you are more likely to be killed, but firearms are used in more homicides each year. The professor has his numbers correct, but his conclusion wrong, as usual. I wonder if they forget how much is recorded these days. AG Holder says he didn't know anything about it until May 2011. But Pres Obama gave an interview in March 2011 talking about the program. And the very best part is that in a press conference on 24 March 2009. Yes, two years earlier, Deputy AG David Ogden listed the program by name and purpose. Not to mention the memos sent to AG Holder. But even better, in 2009 AG Holder himself bragged about Operation Gunrunner. (A) Judges and prosecutors are not the same thing. A decision by prosecutors has no effect on decisions by judges. Enforcement of the order is also separate from the court. Do not mix them together as "the system". Easch is responsible for their own part. (B) Budgets have nothing to do with right and wrong. (C) This was not a budget issue. The man brought his case to court. The courts time and resources were already used. Don't hide behind probably. If their budget was slashed say so. If it wasn't, then you're lying. If you're to lazy to check, then just don't fling it out there and hope it sticks. What has the court got to do with enforcing an order, that's what law enforcement is for. You really are a master at rationalizing away anyone's shortcomings, unless you think their decisions are guided by principles you don't share. The judge was wrong. Don't make excuses for him when you don't know what was in his head. It could be as simple as sexism or a faulty grasp of the law. Or it could be very complex and justified. I just thought it was funny that it was a frenchamn with a sword, involving a gun permit. And Paul, if you want to be picky, if he was bent on mass killing, he didn't need a gun. Blades work perfectly well for that, too. And before you celebrate that only one person died instead of several, take into account that it was a police officer, in a police station, surrounded by other officers, with guns. Yes, politicians lie. How many of them lied under oath to congress? How many Heads of DOJ lied under oath to congress about asinine programs that involved the death of at least two federal law enforcement officers? This isn't kissing babies and promissing lower taxes. This is a whole lot bigger than slick Willie's zipper-gate (perjury-gate), Iran-Contra, and any other presidential scandal I can remember. Oh, well, that's OK then. No harm in killing and maiming little brown kids. I didn't address the Iraqi children because that wasn't a part of the discussion. The professor has difficulty understanding those of us who directly answer other posters. Seeing as he's incapable, we cut him some slack when he doesn't understand when others do so. He also thinks he is subtle and clever when insinuating that others are racist or fascist when they disagree with him. He isn't, and it's insulting, but don't take it personally, he does that to everyone. He also seems to expect you to answerotherpists before they hit the board. Interesting considerig his issues with responding even after other posts are up. Yep, just because all violent criminals do/are ABCD, that doesn't mean squat unless all people who do/are ABCD commit a violent crime. We all know the indicators for "at risk" folks to become criminals, but what separates the possible criminals from the actual ones?
