Yup, the guy is a putz. He lost the gun, and he's facing a criminal charge. Stupid is as stupid does. So do you think all criminals should face assault and battery from law enforcement officers when try are stupid? Or just crimes you would never commit? Personally I'd put domestic violence, drunk drivers, animal abusers, and sex offenders much much higher on my list of "somebody should beat the brakes off of them." But I don't really think they should be beaten, either. When did supporting police brutality become the responsible liberal thing to do? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

http://www.twa800.com/ So we have a plane crash, an official report, and a bunch of folks who disagree. It's 9-11 all over again. What? This was before 9-11? It's a conspiracy!!!! witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Shoot/kill would-be robber, get life sentence.

Irrelevant and not material to supporting an allegation of different standards. The officers were as justified there as the pharmacist was when he first shot the robbery suspect/homicide victim. The dead guy in the woods had killed an officer and K9 and shot another officer. When he raised a gun they lit him up. If you think any of them paused to reload or shot him after he was injured to execute him, then say so. They'd be as wrong as the pharmacist when he shot the robbery suspect/homicide victim with the second gun. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

Try telling that to the cops. I can hear them laughing from here. Not really. Mike was spot on. That's the same thing law enforcement is taught and held to. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Do you think Jamie Leigh Jones was gang raped? Do you think Jamie Leigh Jones was severely beaten, requiring surgery? Do you think Jamie Leigh Jones was held captive in a shipping container? Do you think Jamie Leigh Jones has a history of drinking until blacking out and not remembering sex? Do you think Jamie Leigh Jones has a history of being dishonest? To help you out, the factual answers are no, no, no, yes, and yes. Sorry red, you bought into a big bullshit lie. The facts are out there, and the jury is in. She full of crap. I don't know why you couldn't keep this in a single thread, since you've already shown this one isn't about rape, it's about the JLJ case. And by the way, your "crusading knights bent on rape and pillaging" are firefighters, not soldiers. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Forget setting them free. The truth will get bullshit lawsuits thrown out of court. Just like no DA was dumb enough to try to prosecute it. Jamie Leigh Jones. point of law mother jones For all those "jump on the bandwagon, let's believes any lie about haliburton/kbr/contractors" types out there, please try to understand the facts. Despite having a great story mama, Wendy's looking for advice you never got. In my case, it's "Earn, then buy" as opposed to buying and then figuring out how to pay for it. Credit can be good. Get back under your bridge. Ps - even most underbridge dwellers understand they need to call for a coup d'état if they expect others to support it. Texas bill would make invasive pat-downs a felony
Kennedy replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Wrong. I believe in the constitution, lesser laws, and due process. You seem not to value the last two. Nope. I know damn well that they don't. The problem here is that you aren't capable of dispassionately judging use of force, and seem to think any force by an officer is some sort of fascist vendetta against the world. Take your trickle and shove it, Jeanne. When is the last time you posted without repubiclowns, trickle, or some other sick and sad insult to another poster? And as for the conservative way, I wouldn't know. I'm not that conservative. Maybe you missed the part where I condemned the pat downs as security theater. Or the part where I defend anyone's right to film anyone else in a public place. Or the stupidity of hating all Muslims for terrorism. Etc etc etc. At least I don't support putting people on a "no rights list" without due process, like some of the more authoritarian posters here. Now who was that again...? And for fuck's sake, get it through you're head, I don't work in law enforcement. Your "us and them" police versus citizens nonsense is REALLY pointless when your not talking to the Poe-leece. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Texas bill would make invasive pat-downs a felony
Kennedy replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Yep. Generally, obstruction and assault on an officer will result in your arrest. Resisting that arrest generally leads to officers using force against said obstructor/assaulter/resistor/suspect. Any questions? or can we get back on topic? (feel free to answer in the IHOP thread where this is relevant, if you have an answer) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

Pepper spray would not have been a great idea. Pepper spray is not a precise tool. It splashes or bounces into a cloud, depending on whether it's liquid or aerosol type. In that booth it would have probably contaminated both suspects, their bystand friend, both officers, and the star wars boys. Then the stink would've caused a stampede for the door and cost the restaurant a bunch of money. Also, pepper spray works best on people who are not all hyped up and ready to fight. Not so great on goal oriented, pissed off, or drugged subjects. Once they're swinging, OC isn't a go to option. All in all, poor choice. A taser was a valid option, but they too work better with a bit of space. About seven feet is optimal, less than three problematic. A baton, while also justified, would've been a bad idea. Like I already said, there were choices earlier which might have prevented getting to the slap and punch part. I have to say it's particularly pathetic that their best defense it "I didn't know he was a police officer." witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I think he's asking because you can't renounce citizenship that you don't have. This made me wonder: what does Clark Kent put on his 1040? Citizen? Naturalized Alien? Resident Alien? I like this idea. Saves on jail costs and transportation costs and allows the agents to have some spook fun. Everybody wins! Everybody wins, except for border security and dangerous felon apprehension. Other than that, sure, why not just scare them away? Sure we saw them tonight, let's scare the back and let them cross again tomorrow. No reason to see if they're smuggling drugs or guns, or to see if they're wanted for serious crimes. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Repost. And the point is that he's going to stand for the same things, without petty national issues interfering. Don't you think he can stand for all the good things inferred by truth justice and the American way without letting America's shortcomings and other folk's issues with America get in the way? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You're really going to have to specify which video and what timestamp. I didn't see anything like that, and I am nearly certain he didn't do that. If you think about how cuffs work, they can't be used as brass knuckles. They'd clamp down on your fingers. Also, anyone with handcuff training knows that hitting someone while holding cuffs can rotate the swingarm around making it punch into the target of the punch. So punching someone with cuffs will probably crush your fingers or punch a serrated shiv into them. Not likely something an officer is going to do in less than lethal force encounters, wouldn't you say? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I believe she is trying to film him with her phone in his face. Good eye you two. I missed the object in suspect#2's right hand. Nope. But failing to comply with lawful commands during a justified arrest is a crime. The law books and judges say so. Except you're smart enough not to be in a thug infested IHOP at 0300, you're smart enough not to poke an officer in the face while he's arresting someone, and probably would have left and called him non-complimentary adjectives when told to do so. Besides, if he did punch you like that, you'd probably just call him a damned sissy boy. I do however agree that his actions on the ground were not those of a trained and competent professional. He really could use some practice/training in ground control. He fumbled with the cuffs too. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Nope. They're not always correct any more than they're always wrong. Go ahead and show where I've said otherwise. I dare you. In fact I can think of several things off the top of my head that disgust me about certain officers. I know an Internal Affaris investigator in a large department in this state that uses his position for petty vengeance. I made a sergeant aware of another officer testa-lying on the stand. Several officers across the country have been indicted this week for abusing steroids or selling confiscated drugs. The officers on teh boardwalk who arrested someone just for filming (in a public place). Etc, etc, etc. There are also things that some officers have done that I disagree with, or that I would have done differently, but I still have respect for them. You're the one who wants to take people's rights away without due process. I have no desire to move this country any further towards a police state, and if I could I'd reverse a great deal of it. One day you'll get it that a lot of your hero "progressives" are into authoritarian government, as long as they get to make up the rules. And for the thousandth time, I'm not in law enforcement right now, and have no plans to return at the moment, so I'm NOT "one of them". Do you disagree that when an officer has probable cause that a person is or has committed a crime, that officer has the legal authority to place the person under arrest? Do you think that an officer should never use force to overcome resistance to a lawful arrest? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
