Let's not forget that plagues and diseases are natural, too. If the Earth is a garden, are humans (A) flowers (B) weeds (C) the guy with the scissors witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

We have a huge shortage of judges at the federal level (thanks so much, dems), and basically none have been appointed due to filibustering. Somebody tell me how the Republicans have "control" of the judicairy. Senate Republicans: 51 Democrats: 48 Independents: 1 (Sen. James Jeffords of Vermont) Vacant Seats: 0 Total: 100 a 3% R lead House Republicans: 228 Democrats: 205 Independents: 1 Vacant Seats:1 Total: 435 a 5% R lead (enough to overcome a filibuster, but the Rs haven't really block voted in a long time) They have a simple majority in the Legislative branch, but nothing definitve. Yes, they control the Executive branch. If socialists don't control the government, blame the electorate. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

While you are correct in pointing out one of the four rules of firearms safety, "Never point a firearm at something you are not willing to destroy" you are incorrect as to why people carry firearms. They are not carried to kill an attacker. They are carried because they are the most effective tool to incapacitate an attacker. You don't shoot to kill an attacker, you shoot to stop. It just so happens that the most effective target area to stop an attacker is center mass. Now, hitting an attacker center mass it is very possible he wil die, but you are not shooting to kill, you are shooting to stop. It seems like sematics, but it is the difference between intent that leads to a justified self defense versus intent that leads to murder 2 conviction. If you can find me a better tool to stop and attacker, I will consider it very thoroughly. Until then, a firearm is the most effective tool for self defense (and yes, the attacker may die for my self defense, but he brought that on himself). witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Well, a bad guy coming at a cop with a taser is universally accepted as justifying deadly force. A bad guy pointing a gun at you, even if it is loaded with "taser bullets, is certainly a deadly threat. (what happens when the cop is disabled and the BG takes his gun?) Like everyone has said, the 'no risk of injury' is a pretty asinine claim. What if it his them in the eye, or the throat, or the femoral artery? Anything piercing your skin at high speed IS an injury in and of itself. Also, as has been noted, rubber bullets are don't qualify as non-lethal. Really, they shouldn't even be "less than lethal." They are simply "less lethal." Rubber bullets can kill people very easily. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Magic Bullets? http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=31&art_id=iol109152685653P100 So they're required to penetrate the body, but they don't work on kinetic force, instead once inside the body they create a taser like jolt that shuts down the bady guy. I can't wait to see these things developed. exerpt: piezoelectric effect edit to change url to wikipedia from lame science website witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Well, both states suffer for bordering DC. The major difference, as far as I can see, it Baltimore versus Richmond. (nothing separates the states except the Potomac River) Outside those two cities (and DC Metro Area), both states are largely agricultural or have insignificant towns here and there, with urban sprawl and suburbanization all along I-95 and moving out from DC. Both states are developing faster than is healthy, with either row after row of townhouses and apartment buildings, or McMansions right on top of each other. (the areas look really bad; they have no trees) Both cities are very urban, very nasty, and very hurting; trying to ... hell I don't know what it's called. Urban renewal, de-ghetto-fication, whatever. Richmond used to be Murder Capital of the US (per 100,00). Then they picked up on Project Exile. Suddenly, their murder rate dropped seriously, while Baltimore's has continued to climb. Since Richmond's happy exit from the race, DC and Chicago vie for the title each year. It was DC for two, the last year it went to Chicago. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

The media IS biased, but hey, the sun is yellow and grass is green, and on good days the sky is blue. If only one candidate chooses to advertise with them should they not run that candidate's ad? I can't see Kerry advertising on CNSNews, or Bush running ads in the LATimes, you know? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

http://www.decaturdailydemocrat.com/articles/2004/08/04/news/opinion/editorial02.txt I still can't get over this addiction to the idea that carrying a gun turns people into homicidal maniacs ready to have a shoot out over an "excuse me." Perhaps it should also be noted that Virginia, with its open carry, available concealed carry permits, and other "lax gun laws," has far lower crime rates, and far superior opportunities for both tourism and careers. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You should see the CNN ad that starts with Bush and Cheney looking all pissed off, moves to some support the DNC message, then a smiling Edwards and Kerry. Not exactly flattering. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

So letting candidates, the media, and billionaire groups be the only ones with first amendment rights for months before the election, that's ok with you, but letting the media provide advertising space to candidates, that's not ok with you? Can't say I see your logic in that one. edit: just an FYI there quade, but there's more than one pro Kerry add in that cycle. I've seen three different ones now. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Oh, I can be mean and nasty as well, when dealing with people who won't listen or who are disrespectful. However, lowering yourself to screeching and lying doesn't accomplish much of anything, except looking like one of them. The problem is not that they are more effective. On the contrary, they are less effective and turn people off to involvement in the issues and decisions. The problem is that they get more, or all, coverage, and people are not exposed to a legitimate alternative. You are right that certain views need to stop being complacent, or only fighting back, and they need to go on the offensive. The recent examples in Fairfax, VA are a perfect example. There can be no acceptance, no patting each other on the back, no thinking "this is pretty good, for now." witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

For those who really have no clue, the French had their asses handed to them in the Battle of Agincourt, the Battle of Crecy, the siege of Calais, and that's why it's funny. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

It's all relative. Maybe you meant "aft," but from my perspective, the back is the way you're not facing. You've never heard the phrase "Lean Forward and Move Your Asses Back" barked out by a crotchety old videot when the load is full? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I prefer the back of the plane for several reasons: (A) Freeflyers are more fun, or at least more interesting, than RW folks (B) You don't have to worry about the next guy's separation (C) You get out last, so nobody lurks your jumps without say so {for my safety, to hell with them} (D) You get to fuck with the pilots, plus you see all the T&A flashed his way for altitude Yeah, I'd say I'm perfectly happy staying in my baked and boiled chicken loving minority. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Which Candidates are the Bigger Target for Comedians?
Kennedy replied to Jib's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, I could use a few god laughs, so go ahead and post some of your best, but only go with the ones that target the man, not everything around him. I'm hoping for a few good W caartoons as well. I don't read the LATimes or the NYPost, so I don't see them that often. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
