It sucks we found out the hard way when my wife missed her plane last year because of a snow storm she got on another flight the next day but we we went to come back from eloy I had a ride and she didn't That SUCKED but we got the guy at the counter to fix help us out. It's your money. A Used 190 for the next 100-300 jumps is a good Idea but if you want your gear to match then buy new. A New main is not that much more then used. I was going to buy a used 210 in Perris. they wanted 1350 for it with 200 or 300 jumps. The thing was stock colors and looked like it had 1000 jumps. I got a New main custom colors for a couple hundred more. I had no Idea how little difference I could get it for until I aksed. I sold that main this year with a couple hundred jumps on it for 300 less then the cost of the new 190 I ordered this year. So I jumped it all year for $300 bucks and a New Skydiver got a Kick Ass Canopy with very few jumps at a GREAT price. Everyone ended up happy from Square1 who sold the new canopy, Me for getting my custom Canopy at a really great deal, PD for selling 2 canopies in less then 13 months and the Kid that bought my canopy instead of some stock color canopy with more jumps but the same price. It comes down to the parent. I take my son to the DZ all the time. He is 2 1/2 and knows to step over the lines, not to cross the caution tape and wait to run out to me after landing until His Step mom says it is ok. He waits very patiently for the plane to shut down then he puts his hemet, my gloves and altimeter on and says Baby's turn to skydive and we walk out to the plane and he gets on puts his seat belt on waves bye bye. Then unbuckles and 1-2-3....and jumps out to me. He now has a 182, Grand Caravan. Otter and King Air in his "log" book :) He even runs the lines and makes a great packing weight The difference is we include him in the fun of going to the DZ. He LOVES being there. If it ever comes a time when he is bored (thats when kids get in trouble) then we'll take a different approch but i'm more then ok with Kids at the DZ as long as the parents are including the kids in the "fun" and not just dumping them and expecting them to make their own fun. I tend to use the same packer no matter where I am. If I am at a Boogie or camp I find a packer that is willing to pack for me for the duration. It is funny sometimes because some packers will throw their nose up at my HUGE 190's and formely a 210 and not want to pack it, then after they find out how much I paid the person who did pack for me they suddenly can squeeze me in if I need them.
