Well, you're one up on me! I'm 6'8", watch out for those 6'8 doors man! Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ

Rather than hijack the "Powerball" post I figured I'd start another. I'd like to see some of the dumb ass "lottery logic" we all hear. I'll start. "I don't play till it's over 20 million" yeah like you couldn't quit your job at 7-11 with that petty amount. You just have to buy one ticket. You have to play every week, or that'll be the one you would have won. Here's mine.."You can't lose if you don't play" in my mind if you spend a dollar and don't win, you lose! Don't get me wrong I'm all for the lottery, I voted for it. Can anyone say "voluntary taxation"? The government keeps 50% up front, pays out the only part of the rest, then takes back over 50% of that. Lets face it; the lottery makes millions and millions of people look stupid, and one guy look really smart! Hope I didn't step on any toes there! 6'8", not exactly a lot of nice fitting used gear our there that'll fit me! Anything I buy custom, I just have to keep till it's ready for the bonfire! I keep my weight down to around 210 as not to cut into my meat hauling capacity (tandem). Am I the tallest? Do I win something?!?! For some reason I believe you. I think I have something over 20 hours, but less than 24 I don't have my log book in fornt of me. Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ

Coach rating with Static Line/IAD Progression
skydived19006 replied to skydived19006's topic in Instructors
Most of the “Coach” responses I’ve seen posted here are with AFF training in mind. If you say that a Coach can only participate in the F, G, and H, with the Static Line progression that amounts to the last 6 skydives of 30 (5 static line, 25 free falls) Look at the BSR 2-1-E-4 (c) c. All students must jump under the direct supervision of an appropriately rated USPA Instructor until demonstrating stability and heading control prior to and within five seconds after initiating two intentional disorienting maneuvers involving a back-to-earth presentation. [E] If this is the criteria, in a Static Line Progression once a student complies with this requirement a Coach could start working with them (under an Instructors supervision). The ISP may specify when these maneuvers are “typically” done, but I see no reason why they couldn’t be worked in at an earlier stage of the training. Comments... Mark and I do all the tandems at my little Kansas DZ. I have just less than 600 tandems and Mark over 500. We use Eclipse rigs, and Icarus/Precision mains, between the two of us we have 0 chops. We do almost all the packing ourselves, pro packed every time. We do use a rubber band on the center D line attachment (right and left) to tie the steering lines into the center of the canopy, may have saved us a line over, I guess we’ll never know. Without cheating, how many posts do you think you have?
skydived19006 replied to Conundrum's topic in The Bonfire
I’ve very often been referred to as a smartass myself. I like it, as I most often reply “beats being a dumb ass”. Funny, some people take this as me implying that they’re a dumb ass, well maybe. Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ -

Around 100, I tend not to “whore” and only post when I can say something with at least a bit of sustenance. Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ -
Very Nice! If that’s just the plain ol bra of the day, I’d really be interested to see a few of your upscale bras. Seems innocent enough, it is a wonder that all the sky chicks here are unwilling to step up to the plate. And a big… How you do’n?!?! Had a friend tell me that how he has brought the know it all macho types a notch or two. After opening rip the Velcro on the toggles two or three times, then tell him to try not to move much. I haven’t done it, but the thought makes me laugh! At a recent boogie a couple of TMs were contemplating having a “discussion” on the plane. TM wearing sport gear: You know I’ve watched you tandem guys, that shit looks easy to me. TM: Well if it looks so easy why don’t we switch gear and you can give it a try, smartass! Don’t think they did it. Personally I wouldn’t want to be hauling that passenger! I much prefer my students to have an overabundance of confidence in me and the gear! I learned to type on an electric in 7th grade as well (1977). They took the typewriter away form me after the first 9 weeks because I was drawing houses and such. I think I got up to around 20 words, and still do between 20 and 30. Circa 1979 I got to play with a remote to a main frame, you used a rotary dial phone to call in, plugged the handset onto cuffs to connect. It was a keyboard and thermal paper no screen. Just played games like Lunar Lander. Look where I have come, now I get paid to not work and screw around on the internet! The discipline is second to the hottest of skydiving chicks that practice it! I watched Dale Stuart leave the airplane years ago when I had 100 jumps or so, it was hard to believe my eyes! Now that’s the Couch Freaks Spirit we all love! I’ll admit to being a little provocative with my reply to Mary, and apologize here and now for it! No matter what we do or where we go there’ll always be a few troublesome people who will inevitably ruin things for everyone! Sounds like you provided an answer at least for your group with a shower in your RV. I’d love to play on your Volley Ball team, although I’m a little competitive and have stepped on some toes (literally and figuratively) in the past in that game. In reality I don’t expect that it’ll be an issue as we’re a little geographically challenged. See ya next year in Iowa, have we started the “count down” yet? PS If anyone else wondered, No I don’t play Basketball! Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ

That's just sad. "Believe in what I believe in or you are uptight - lighten up man." Too bad there isn't age information in the profiles. What is there that is difficult in understanding about respect for other people? You’re absolutely correct in that if everyone respected each other regarding the “shower issue” there would be no issue, and I don’t know what the answer is (that would satisfy everyone). I also had a short conversation with Joy and the club members are quite aware of the issue. She also told me that in her 15 years she has never taken a shower with a guy, for whatever that’s worth. I don’t think this particular boogie is for everyone, I talked with my wife about it and we agreed that it will be quite a long time before we would allow our boys to attend Couch Freaks. I would whole heartedly agree that the examples you gave are not only inappropriate and even punishable by law, although I wouldn’t want to see it ever come to that. Everyone I know form Kansas respects the women’s right to shower with the same sex, and will always ask some sort of question before entering (boys, girls, both? Or just “is the water cold?” giving anyone a chance to say “women only please”, or whatever) I do things at this boogie that would never be allowed at my DZ, which is exactly the point. Also, I didn’t start this thread to make enemies, that’s why I became a DZO (lol). This boogie is our chance to leave Kansas behind for a weekend and have some fun! There was only one of the 5 DZs open in Kansas Labor Day Weekend, as everyone else was in Iowa. They did an O550 mod to an early straight tail 182 at a local DZ, did wing extensions, speed breaks, and three blade prop. Now they have a somewhat faster climbing 182 (most noticeable at higher tudes), with an indebtedness of well over $100,000.00. And the engine hasn’t lived up to the advertised 2500 tbo, requiring major work, cylinders, etc at less than 1000 hrs. You could have done several factory 0 time majors on an O470 for that kind of money. I question the wisdom of this one! After considering your opinion, and thinking about it, I think you have made an excellent decision by just not doing this boogie. I also think that the “shower issue” seems to cull the herd quite nicely. Couch Freaks has an attitude about it that I think is really cool, if you to uptight to deal with the shower issue, I think we’re all better off if you go to one of the other Labor Day Boogies! Have a good time this weekend doing whatever, and showering where ever you may! Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ

Yep, what happens there stays there! That’s the credo we operate on, but “real world” you can add “unless it’s recorded on film or video!” Skydivers are like a bunch of Japanese tourists these days, there’s always a camera running! Martial Arts Practitioners i have a question.
skydived19006 replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
I would also agree that the grappling techniques (Ahkedo, Hopkedo, (spelling) etc.) would be the most beneficial in real life. These techniques can be used for submission, or to really hurt someone, fold their arm back at the elbow and you’ll take a lot of steam out of em. Really, I unless you’re a bouncer or something, if you’re needing to “defend” yourself often my guess would be that you may be the problem. I believe that learning a martial art is excellent for children as well. Obviously not so they can go to school and kick ass, but to learn discipline, and to have the confidence to know that they don’t have to fight! Yeah, I know the showers are an issue, and a pain in the ass for quite a few women. You can arrange to trade “guard” duties with a friend at the shower tent. The first time I went to the Couch Freaks Boogie (10 years without missing); I had a really hard time believing that it wasn’t some kind of joke. Also, I would assume that some choose to get a room instead of camping because of the shower issue. That said, I wouldn’t change it! You know when I was typing that response; I had the thought that maybe this was Aimee. I was pinched for time (almost time to leave work) and didn’t want to do the research, risking looking stupid for the sake of expediency. It’s all too obvious now, Rubber Cock Fly Chick, I get it. So I don’t need to take my batteries? Doesn’t seem to be all that much interest in the topic of Couch Freaks here. That’s fine; it really wouldn’t be the same boogie with twice as many skydivers. Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ

I told Aimee that she could find me by the budge in my front pocket. And that the appropriate response would be "are those batteries in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me". She wasn’t sure she would be there either though. Experience is what you get when you thought you were going to get something else. AC DZ
