  1. I agree a little bit with Dan. The Cobalt is a great canopy and I am totally confident that it is superior to a stilleto and for your purposes it is a much better opening canopy and easier to pack. If you try a vengeance I'll buy you a beer, though ha ha. R
  2. Paula My fav "RW only girl" after my sig-other Wassup! PD markets their canopy wrong it should be marketed as an intermediate canopy between the stilleto and the velocity, because it does swoop better. Is it because of the airlocks...hmm..doubt it. I jump a vengeance, but not cuz it's airlocked, cuz it dives hard. Trey jumps a vengeance Super Dave thinks a Vengeance is the best non cross brace canopy out there...and his opinion is probably more valid than mine. Wane jumps one Samurai and has second on order. James (ex-jumpmaster jumps a vengeance) Mike Swanson (Olav's team mate) jumps a samurai. Rabbit jumps a Jedei when not on FX. Eric thought Vengeance is great, but...he needs a little more of course. Josh thinks the're good although he has moved on also although his crossfire is one of the 'bad' ones. Katrina like the jedei although she liked my FX better (109FX vs 120) The samurai and the vengeance are both hard swoopers, but I am not sure anyone jumps them cuz of the airlocks. Consensus opinion is that if the wind is really bad they can fold up also, but I have seen mine personally land better on a blustery day, but ....my only comparison is against canopies that were loaded lighter and that may be just as important. bloo skies sweetie. ramon
  3. Nova...Bad joo joo. I have a friend that still jumps one, albeit he is very careful how he flies it. So many people bought Crosfires. Glad I got a vengeance. BSBD ramon
  4. Rodeo sex with a girl that loads student gear at 2 to 1 can hurt the back of even a strong man. congrats, when I get better I'll video.... jumping not me and the chick. R
  5. Note I was probably getting time distortion. My snivly main was having a spinning malfunction as I slowed down and the main was open but spinning my dytter was flatlining (2500'). I was spinning on my back as it flat lined and struggled a little to try and kick out of about 4 complete line twists (maybe 2 seconds). I chopped and pulled reserve (no rsl) probably 1 second after chop.(very subterminal). My estimate is I chopped at 2300-2100 and after I got my thoughts together, looked at my reserve and my handles and probably looked around be-wildered I looked at my altimeter 1600 '. My guess is it opened in about 400-500' and it was not hard. I know someone who had some sort of faster malfunction and estimates they pulled their reserve at 400' AGL (could be exageration), they flared with the risers as they could not clear the brakes before landing. bloo ones ramon
  6. ha ha Part of the strategy for capitalism is to allow corporations to perform investments in countries with a strong oppressive regime in place. this keeps the people submissive and cheap and stable..and executives on either side of the border make the money. Of course we (the US) do this it is in the name of "freedom and human rights and American values, laissez faire economics..things all hard working americans cherish (say this with Clinton or Bush accent it works both ways) and the press gives us stories of how we are saving human rights as opposed to screwing everyone over (NAFTA). Unfortunately Chuck is right. the typical American citizen (whose real wages have been going down since the 50s incidentally) does not mean ill toward other countries they are misguided by TV/press/consumerism, they have no idea what is the outcome is when american corporations make deals with other countries. We are spoon fed that it is good for America and good for freedom (whatever). You can manipulate a population. ramon
  7. Hey chuck 25% of all the foreign aid we give to the world goes to Israel...a very tiny little country. sorry Omri Every year the UN has a vote to declare Israel a terrorist state (1 veto is all that is needed), the US vetoes. We give them attack helicopters instead (they use US choppers when they fly over Palestine) go figure why they hate us rocks & bottles vs machine guns quote from Israeli intelligence Officer (Aman) How to counter this kind of terrorism? "To fight these bastards you don’t need a military attack," said an experienced Israeli commando officer. "You only need to adopt Israel’s assassination policy." Same article that mentions Israel planting car bombs against PLO/terrorist targets....ergo...counter terrorism = terrorism. http://www.janes.com/security/international_security/news/fr/fr010919_1_n.shtml bloo skies dude ramon
  8. or make big bastards when we kill their children. It will be horrible if we fuck it up...but then we usually do such a good job.... like when renegade Generals in Saddam's army wanted to overthrow him, they did not ask for help or support only captured Iraqi weapons, Bush said no, Generals were executed and Saddam is building more palaces while his people have nothing. like when Clinton killed a bunch of goats and 21 people (missing all of Al Queda) the day after he told us about Monica..yawn.
  9. All the kiddies and political experts (educated by TV and military) are spouting their opinions on the skydiving board (I mean bored..yawn) and you come in quoting Zinn. You are officially on my cool list, Donna. bloo skies ramon
  10. Jesse is a person at Spaceland, Texas. He has a yellow 104 with pink or magenta cross bracing (it does look nice) and I beleive another one that might be grey/silver with blue or something. He made me a really good deal on the 109. I don't think he is out to make money, he buys a lot of canopies and unloads them when he gets sick of them. Send me a private message with your e-mail and if I see him this weekend maybe I can get him in touch with you. ramon
  11. You do not know the power of the dark side. (heavy metalic breathing) Wait...this is an RW helmet..... How secure does it look, say ...for freeflying. I've seen cheaper RW helmets get flip up visors open or breaking off... How securly does the Havok close? ramon
  12. HA HA HA!!!! maybe I should have said, glad I didnt get a crossfire. No I will keep it.....it was made this January so maybe it is an FX version 2.17 But is it staying in the closet for now. My friend Jesse (sold me the 109) has one maybe two 104s for sale BTW, It did have stitching coming off some of the cells where the cross bracing was attached and it only has 150 jumps on it. A master rigger sewed it back and I have heard of quality problems with Precision's role in the Icarus products...but.........oh well. bloo skies no planes ramon
  13. Thanks for the data although your first post about the matter was not received well in light of the incident. Nothing else to say except I'm glad I have a PD canopy. ramon
  14. I have put about 25 jumps on a samurai 150 (1.5). My general impressions. 1. Very spongy and forgiving in toggle turns (i.e. not fast and twitchy like a stilleto). This facilitiates easy and safe flat turns, I have done two 90 degree flat turns in a row starting about 300 ' (did one to cross wind, saw I had enough altitude to do another into the wind). This is a forgiving canopy for an eliptical at 1.5, yet capable of swooping almost as far most other canopies at that loading. 2. light in the rear risers, will float back from a long spot very well. Also, if you wish to do very fast turns as toggle turns are slow on this canopy, grab a rear riser, it will turn fast enough to make you dizzy. 3. Front riser turns, riser pressure starts out fairly light then increases with speed , but it is a little lighter than a stilleto (not as light as an Alpha or Cobalt). This canopy maintains a lot of speed from a dive. 4. Negative recovery arc. This canopy is a little safer to hook in some respects as it does not return to level flight after a hard dive, but rather to about a 5 degree dive (shallow dive until you give a little toggle input). this is good because if you hook 10 feet to higher than you can hold on to the front risers, the canopy will keep its speed and dive.l slightly to the ground rather than planeing out 10 feet above the ground/stalling and then hurting your ankles with an ugly landing. this is good and a PD vengeance does it also. I think they are good canopies, they are expensive though and I own a vengeance 135 (got a used one). my friend Wane's Samurai 135 feels faster than the vengeance, but the vengeance will dive longer. good luck
  15. I got two sofas also. Come out to Spaceland. Ann said your the one working on that horrendous virus that ate her website. ramon

ha ha ha yes they do.... DZ politics is like being in the military lots of men, few women, the women do lots of hopping around usually ending up sooner or later with an idol (instructor or other experineced person). here is a nasty saying. "you didn't break up with her, it's just not your turn anymore" be a good girl and look for someone that you honestly like, because in the future the skygods won't seem some godlike
  18. My first was a triathlon at 1.28. Be careful initially because it does turn a faster than student rigs. This is a very forgiving parachute to have to load up a little as a first main. It is very stable, accurate and opens softly and reliably. good luck ramon
  19. WTF! A post about Fliteline has nothing to do with this (they're out of buisiness now). You have been asked to provide a logical arument/discussion or proof and you provided a sample of wreckdot ego flinging with out any reference to Icarus or crossfire. Repeatedly you have been told by witnesses there was turbulence off of the trees. Back up your claims to discuss or go back to wreckdot. It is important to our sport to be aware of dangerous gear and misplaced criticism like that is wrong....what if all the gear manufacturers started backstabbing each other saying everyone elses gear was deadly? Sounds like libel. We all sign waivers and we should be able to access good information about our gear...if you have inside info you should present it in a logical manner so that the community can benefit in the least offensive way. Chuck's description of the problem was much more beleiveable that yours. What is scary is you sound like one of those riggers that likes to give people gear fear. Back it up! peace ramon
