  1. I think it was above average looks question ramon
  2. old skool monarch and Sabre are sort of really the same I mean really... samurai/vengeance They are both airlocked...and PD is actually makings some of brians samurais but they are very fuzzy things (flown both many times). they have different airlock attachments. Vengeance is the highest aspect ratio canopy PD makes and it is trimmed very steep with shallow brakes (ala stilleto). I don';t know how they did it but a vengeance seems to have the biggest recovery arc of a non cross braced canopy. Samurai has less aspect ratio and is trimed flatter and very deep brakes. it flat turns wonderfully and will glide forever in rear risers. They might have the same freaking airfoil for all I know, but they fly like to totally unrelated canopies. Maybe it is just the line trim. If I were jumping a medium canopy I like a samurai, but If I were jumping a smaller one I like a vengeance..??? P.S. I have flown every canopy in your list and mine except (sabre2, and VX) so I agree with you and hook pretty much
  3. 8 way hd. shit if we tie (7way) and I am at least videoing I'll buy beer ramon
  4. After jumping a spectre at 1.5 I knew I did not want a smaller reserve. though it was ZP and it flew just fine It stalled rather abruptly at the end of the flare (of course I probably wouldn't hook my reserve). I've landed my old reserve at 1.3....no problem tippy toe new one is 1.5 (143R) and my main is a little too small for my container (109 at 2.0), but I do not want a smaller reserve...just not worth it for a smaller container. I guess I want to feel somewhat confident if I am low over a trailer park. ramon
  5. Sort of like if you put cross members in a standard 7 cell, without the square non loaded cells? hmmm
  6. Little lessons PS IF you had been doing a carve (instead of what sounds like a focused hard hook). You could have bailed cross wind before you got too low. You committed yourself to a 360, never do that, let off your riser and do a 270.300 whatever. 1. Plan your swoop and your outs on the ground. 2. Do not get so focused on your swoop that you ignore everything else till you are apporaching hook altitude and then get introuble. 3. Loose the "I have to hook " attitude. If you do not have clear lane to set up for your hook at the right altitude take your out I mean this. Especially if you are on a 20 person skydiving load, there is a good chace you will not be able to turn where you want, so adjust your turn point or take an out. 4. Do lots of hop'npops. No traffic, work on altitude site picture and focus. 5. Never do maneauvers that eat up more altitude with out practicing them up high and with no traffic low. 6. Advanced...learn to take slight downwind and cross wind landings rather than get too low in your carve (or if you have to do a 90 or 180 instead of 270, 360. good luck ramon
  7. Second hand info is that Eric Butts was jumping an Atair prototype over at Spaceland one day within the past month. Extreme rumor is that it was a quad cell (not a tri cell). I don't think Eric has been back since and consensus was that he did not have it dialed in so we are unsure of performance.
  8. Wish I was there with you two. ramon
  9. I worked with Bill for a while. Great guy showed me how to save my life (showed me how to pack my only save..mine . I love Bill to death he knows alot, been around along time, and can tell you a lot of important stories bout the sport. Derek (Hook n' swoop) also knows a lot but I am not sure if he wants/needs help though. But I's sure he would help you. ramon
  10. My first downsize was from a triathlon 175 to a Space 150 (loaded 1.5). the difference between a 9 cell and a 7cell combined with the downsize was a bit much for me and I biffed one day. Luckily it was a 150 and I just a little low (mis timed flare fell on face, no real injuries) It seems that downsize was as hard for me as my recent downsize to an FX 109 from a vengeance 135. I am a better pilot now, but the challenges my brain was going through to estimate where I was going to at what altitude on my first downsize were considerable. Good luck, remember its better to cross/downwind it than turn low to avoid an obstacle or turn into the wind. ramon

    feal my boobies

Did you write it? Bad girl you need a spanking. r
  12. Do you stand up all of your landings. Have you ever slid a down wind landing on your ass instead of turning low. Have you ever had to do a low braked turn to avoid an unforseen obstacle. How do you feel about landing the 150 off DZ? These sorts of questions run through my mind. If you feel comfortable with your current experience being able to handle these, then downsizing might be fine If the thought of downwinding the 170 is scary..maybe you should spend some extra time on a largeer canopy. Good luck I remember being in your shoes..and in some respects I still am though my canopy is small. ramon
  13. I think Goat wants to break the record he was on in Chicago (I think it was 14 docked..flower with stingers). We could easily do a 6 way or bigger head down docked (excluding second raters like me) that would be a DZ.com record that would not be broken for a long time. If Goat and everyone decides to have a mini big way camp that weekend I'm sure they could break the state record whatever that is (7 way round or something). It is all dependent on the mood, and effort put in by the really good freefliers at the boogie. ramon
  14. With all those people you could have big way practice. ramon
  15. Man, you should have come out wednesday with the "IT problem" tomorrow....I hope you get some good holes...happens over there on bad weather days...but... ramon
  16. There have been so many combinations of 3 to 4 ways docked it would be hard to guess. At what time the most 'real' DZcom members launched a FF exit just at Spaceland. shit yesterday me Levin, Slappie, Nacmacfeagle did a 4 way. (course only three were docked at exit and an entirely different 3 stayed with the Base.. Slappie!. I would think it would be fairly easy to make a 6 way headdown all with local people (gravity Rats and Spaceland people). Maybe more ramon
  17. OPEC hasn't had the balls to raise prices or cut production since the 70s embargo. they do whatever they can to support our auto-mania.
  18. He missed more than one landing with the camera
  19. Are you going to sleep with it like Wane did to his base canopy
  20. Your non-bigheadedness is one of your best online aspects Chuck. I always enjoy reading your swoopie posts. ramon
  21. Hey dude, That is the thing I'm having the most trouble with on my FX. It is so much faster than my vengeance It is hard to be at my hook/carve spot at the right altitude. Of course I hook early/late or take one of my outs to avoid trouble, but getting that perfect approach so that you can surf where you want to seems to be the hardest part (especially crosswind). Seems it is a little easier to do a hard 180 snap hook and be accurate, but I have been trying to carve more lately (probably safer at my experience level) and my accuracy is sort of crappy that way. If you have executed a steep carve or hard hook and you are slightly off direction do you personally always correct with your front riser or do you ever bump a toggle (I know you are loaded a whole 1#/ft more than me, but I'm guessing your riser pressure might lighter in the middle of your dive??) ramon
  22. Hear that? Come out anyway and if there are only 9 people Jim's got us covered . Shit I might buy am extra slot if someone packs for me. ramon
  23. Do what I always do... Start deleting things in the registry then call support when the computer doesn't work. Tell your boss it's fried and you can't work till the support pukes act on your work request. Then tell you boss you're feeling sick. Go eat a bag of barbecue porkskins with some Orange juice. Get a jar of Ipecac syrup take a teaspoon full before barging into your bosses office to tell him you really feel bad. Hold the vomitus down till the last minute then spray it on his "guest chair". try to get maximum splatter effect as it aught to be colorful and stinky. Tell your boss it must be food poisoning and you need a couple of days. ramon
