I get good openings unless I am really lazy with my line groups. ramon "wee girls on a skydive road trip on big bikes...... yikes, dykes and bikes kinda thing...... ", David McKelvie

which seem to go in and out of fashion every week, are supposed to make that prolem invisble. it will still be there but the riser will move with the brake line and you will just feel a smooth flare. I dunno... ramon "wee girls on a skydive road trip on big bikes...... yikes, dykes and bikes kinda thing...... ", David McKelvie

awesome, thanks. No problems yet, except for software loading (linux bootdisks, and missing shit from my DV card/Premiere bundle) thanks, I'll try some editing this weekend. ramon "wee girls on a skydive road trip on big bikes...... yikes, dykes and bikes kinda thing...... ", David McKelvie

Any comments? Will Fat32 affect video capture speed? I just partitioned my hard drive for W2k, Linux Dual boot and I can't really use NTFS to do this, but I want to share video with Linux in order to use some of those tools. ramon "wee girls on a skydive road trip on big bikes...... yikes, dykes and bikes kinda thing...... Since the whole discussion was started on the use 'snap' (where I really pull my nose about four or 5 feet till my tail is hanging vertically, small canopy') then I guess the discussion is moot. very friendly great atmosphere. This dropzone is one where you actually 'feel the love'. Very good freefly atmosphere with load organizers that ' actually jump with you'..imagine that. It is in a dry county so bring your own beer. One of my favorites and I've been to a dozen

Hey, Why does PD frown upon snapping the leading edge of the canopy? I hve never heard of this. Am I confusing snapping with a hard jerk on the nose to straighten the lines? Should I pull less hard? very curious ramon "wee girls on a skydive road trip on big bikes...... yikes, dykes and bikes kinda thing...... ", David McKelvie

Most of the people going for faster suits are fairly skinny. I know a boy who can match fall rates with anyone in jeans and a tee-shirt he is tall skinny (like Olav and Rook). If you are a fast faller like me (220# exit weight). You will need a suit with double material in the lower arms and lower legs (Firefly and Dakine make suits with triple material there). Tony suits can come with very heavy cotton (good for tye dye) and they offer lots of drag. Dakine and Flite suit offer little pockets on lower legs that help bigger people slow down while head down, but they can interfere a tiny bit with tracking and other fun stuff. I would get a very thick double fabrick suit, and then learn slow fall techniques. In a sit you can cup your arms downward a little (like hugging air), and you can butt fly (freak flying, lazy boy style) and you can back fly (takes practice hahaha). In a headown you should put your legs as far out as you can put them and then a little further (if flying Froggy). If you can fly froggy and are still smoking, start experimenting with Daffy. Once you can fall straigh down daffy you can really slow down. good luck ramon "wee girls on a skydive road trip on big bikes...... yikes, dykes and bikes kinda thing...... ", David McKelvie

trash pack (with flaked nose, tail, quartered slider). I don't do that to any other canopy except FX. Err.. why does PD frown upon jerking the nose? ramon

When I hear sail plane I think a glider type thing. I am specifically talking about freefall deployed devices, I could desgin a semi-rigid wing that would go further than 418 and with a real aeronautical engineer probably somehting that would go miles on thermal currents. . (neuvres is like a paraglider but I am unsure if it is on the market) So what is a competition sail plane? Is it not a rigid wing glider and what does it have to do with a pendulum weighted inflatable wing deployed in freefall and intended as a life saving device? ramon

hmmm. Dave... Ted.... sorry guys Looks like Rachill's going to have 3 monkeys fighting to turn her into a RACHILL CHIMICHANGA!!! ramon

In Pro pack position holding all the lines in one hand..... After you flake the nose you jerk the nose very hard to the side to sort of straighten things up where the line attachment points are, No flaking inside. sort of neaten the brake lines. Quarter the slider and do whatever you like to do to it. stuff nose if you like. wrap the tail the way you like. lay on floor Some people do this to stillettos and FXs. My FX likes to be packed this way. My vengeance does not (it likes to be perfectly symetrical). talk to lots of people and do what works for you. ramon

honey, you be careful in that 5 way we're doing this weekend bwahahahahah ramon

stilleto 170 @ 1.3 very forgiving, all openings soft, mostly on heading, make it back from a hell of a spot.. low pack volume on the 170 size, heavy front riser pressure, great flat turns. easy to fly and tends to shock low timesers with lenthg of glide before touch down. Alpha/Space 150 @ 1.5 spirited flight. beautiful openings (very soft, my friend trye jumped it after broke ribs), but you have to steer the canopy while it is opening, sensitive to pack style can spin up with sloopy packing, very high glid ratio, Warning...lightest riser pressure ever, better than Cobalt easy to pack (South african fabric). low 150 pack volume Stilleto 150 @ 1.5. little twitchier in toggles than Space/Alpha, turn faster, dive the same, higher riser pressure lower 150 pack volume Samurai 150 at 1.5 incredible flat turn capability. will make it bacek from a long spot better than any other 150. stable in turbulence. twitchy dancing openings. tricky to land, but lands well once you have figured out the toggle feel. braking just right pulls nice swoop out of canopy. packs big for 150 Crossfire 136 @ 1.66 twitchier than canopies at 1.5, snivelly as hell opening. nice flight, medium riser pressure, low pack volume. seemed smaller than it was.packs up small Samurai 135 @ 1.67. sort of twitchy, dives fairly good for 135, tricky to flare flies flat and stable from long spot, opens sort of twitchy but ok..packs big for 135 Cobalt 135 at 1.67. ok opening, not quite as good as the old Alphas, but.(I can't explain), riser pressure was nice and light, brakers were tight (adjustable), easy to fly or swoop . nice canopy, braked turns nice packs up small. Vengeance 135 @ 1.67 (I am biased). Flies like a bigger canopy (143.5), dives hard when hooked hard like a smaller canopy (120 ish). flies at speed like it is on rails toggle input reults in smooth results, has high aspect ratio and shuts down very good (ala Alhpa cobalt) when loaded up. Way too easy to fly aggressively and often surprises stillto hookers with the dive length. Opens softly and pretty much on heading, but tends to dive hard when one side opens first, handles turbulence well, packs up big flies big stops big, dives small. I love this canopy. light riser pressure. FX 109 @ 2.0. flies fast, surfs very far when hooked long, but will run out of steam in strong head wind compared to a more highly loaded canopy. riser pressure is high. In deep brakes you can stay up with a much lighter loaded canopy due to wing efficiency, opens ok if trash packed, can dance around violently and when spun up things can get messy quick. Will get penitration in high winds, and has a very strong flare (not an all round canopy, you accept some risk when jumping one). Models produced at different times seem to be fairly different (some good ones, some bad ones) i.e. I have friends that had horrible openeings fixed by custom pocket sliders. rear riser pressure is light. packs up big. I thinkg 2.0 is right at most aerodynamically efficient wingloading for this canopy ( maybe a little higher for velocity and Xaos, and a smidgen more for VX). Av ery fun canopy when you get used to it, learn to anticipate being in traffic 500 feet ahead of where you normally think, you will be in the landing area quick. ramon
