  7. Hi Bill, Re: Once Trump's tariffs go into force, and inflation starts ticking up - who will conservatives blame? It was the summer of '83. The Reagan Recession was in full swing. The local tv news station did a story on all of the people, here in Oregon, who were out of work & complaining about. The local tv news commentator, Floyd McCay [ a brilliant guy BTW ], came on, and said, 'Why are they complaining? This is exactly what Reagan said he would do.' Let's see how things look in the summer of 2027. Then) who will conservatives blame? Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi folks, This photo brings back some memories: I was in South Korea in 1980. I landed in Seoul and as we were leaving the airport, we had go around some concrete barricades. Then in downtown Seoul, it looked as if there was an armed soldier on every corner of the city. It was a little unnerving. In South Korea, the martial law declaration was a momentary return to a painful past : NPR Jerry Baumchen

  18. Hi Joe, Re: He makes it up. This reminds me of something I read a couple of days ago. It seems as though, after his inauguration, Trump will ask the DOJ to look into fraud in the 2020 election. He just cannot seem to accept that he lost. Jerry Baumchen

  21. Hi winsor, I agree; tough to be a female here. The simple solution it to build restrooms like in Asia; a common room for washing, etc; with no urinals, just commodes for either sex to use in privacy. Now, our prudish society is aghast at such a thought. Oh, the horror. Jerry Baumchen
