Hi dogyks, Re: Clinton is more charming I've never met him; so, cannot really comment. Although, back in the 90's, he came to Portland and one of our secretaries went to the airport to greet him. She said that he was very charming. Re: Trump, however, is neither an Attorney nor a Democrat. Care to expand on that? And, Trump first ran for the presidential nomination as a Dem. Jerry Baumchen

Hi dogyhks, I have no love for Bill Clinton; however, he did not fake a TIME cover to focus on himself. So, what do you think of the $5M Gold Card? Jerry Baumchen

Hi folks, Looks like they cannot wait to get in line to lick his boots: A Republican lawmaker says he’s working on legislation to create a $250 bill featuring a portrait of President Donald Trump. Trump’s face on money? Lawmaker to propose $250 bill with president on it - oregonlive.com It would be about as legal as when Trump created a fake TIME magazine cover with his face on it. Jerry Baumchen PS) Personally, I think they should put his face on toilet paper; now, that would really sell.

Hi dogyks [ & John K ], Well, I've tried & tried to find a source that P T said if first, and cannot. -> My bad The most of the sources that I have found are similar to: The phrase is usually attributed to American showman P.T. Barnum. Then I found this: Whether Barnum actually used either of these expressions is controversial. Rochester Institute of Technology professor Nicholas DiFonzo described in his 2008 book The Watercooler Effect, that Barnum’s biography could not verify this attribution at all. Rather, it was likely that a banker named David Hannum from Syracuse, New York who actually said it. I'll try to remember that. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, Reagan said a recession was when your neighbor lost his job; and, a depression was when you lost your job. Jerry Baumchen PS) In one of the many, many studies of combatants post-WW II, it was found that the first emotional reaction, when the guy next to you got killed, was happiness. -

Hi John, I've been around a little longer than you & could not agree more. The real con is that so many GOP candidates [ think Reagan first ] campaigned on reducing the debt. Let us not forget what P. T. Barnum told us, 'There is a sucker born every minute.' Jerry Baumchen -

Hi Nigel, Re: how the military may be reluctant to disobey illegal orders Hegseth [ Trump ] is replacing generals right & left. I am very sure the new people will not consider those to be illegal orders. Ever hear someone say, 'I have thoroughly reviewed that document,' when you know they have only read the first three pages? Jerry Baumchen PS) Re: Maybe “Checks and Balances” is the new “Thoughts and Prayers” Welcome to the World of Trump 2.0.

Hi Nigel, IMO not really, when you consider that every 6 Jun the French celebrate the D-Day landings. Some of them may deny the holocaust, but they know who liberated them. Jerry Baumchen

Hi Keith, I agree 100%. The Dems have the elections in in their pockets in 2026 & 2028. They just need to find an agenda & a candidate that people like you & I will support. Jerry Baumchen

Hi dogyks, For many yrs, I have believed that we should reduce the size of the fed gov't. Disclaimer: I spent 30 yrs for the fed gov't & am now a fed retiree. However, IMO a proper reduction [ subjective? - of course ] requires a scalpel and not a sledge hammer. And, yes: Trump is batshit crazy. I do not believe that down deep Trump really cares; remember, his first attempt at the presidency was as a Democrat. His true desire is just to himself in the news; the center of attention.
