  1. Hi 13, Re: multiple states have passed laws outlawing abortions I disagree. They have passed laws that infringe upon the right to abortion. Sort of like back in the 70's during the gasoline shortage. The federal gov't. did not ban driving, they just told you that you could not drive over 55 MPH on federal highways. This is how they will continue to chip away at Roe v Wade. It is the old 'Death by a Thousand Cuts.' And, I am totally against it. Jerry Baumchen
  2. Hi Keith, And in that short amount of time, someone could tackle or otherwise disrupt the killing. That is why I advocate for a gun to be able to only hold one cartridge at a time; it gives someone that small, but effective, amount of time to do something. Jerry Baumchen
  3. Hi John, Let me say it again: I'm thinking she liked the limelight. Jerry Baumchen
  4. Hi air, Why did he use the bathroom when he got out of bed that morning? Both questions are irrelevant to his murder. Jerry Baumchen
  5. Hi Joe, Re: There is zero live and let live involved where religion is concerned. This is the main thing that I despise about any religion. As like you, I am an atheist. However, I never ask anyone else to believe as I do. Jerry Baumchen
  6. Hi air, Re: gets a fair one It will be more fair than what Geo. Floyd got. Jerry Baumchen
  7. Hi Ken, For example, recent history has shown us that there are religious people in the world who we have good reason to fear, and it is only natural that we become wary of them. And we should be. Jerry Baumchen
  8. Hi John, She had a choice; I'm thinking she liked the limelight. Too smart too late. Jerry Baumchen
  9. Hi Keith, I do not hope, I believe that he is right. IMO the wind is not in your direction. It will only take a mass killing that gets a CongressCritter's grandchild & things might change quickly. IMO most Americans are fed up with this mass killing & 'hopes and prayers' being the only response. Time will tell, Jerry Baumchen
  10. Hi folks, Re: He ‘played the race card’ So who 'played the race card' first, the Georgia legislature or Joe Biden? Graham blasts Biden for response to Georgia election law: He ‘played the race card’ - POLITICO Jerry Baumchen
  11. Hi John, From your link: Trump earlier this week attempted to rewrite the history of the insurrection, which he stoked by repeatedly and falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen from him. Does anyone need any further proof that Trump is delusional? Jerry Baumchen
  12. Hi Peter, Re: Will be interesting to see where the industry goes with it. Well, that is probably the understatement of the week. VSE did use the 'Collins' lanyard when they added their RAX MARD to their rigs. And, as you say, some others may choose not to. Also, as stated above, IMO it is quite a lot of work to add the device; might be best to send the rig back to the mfr for the changeover. Jerry Baumchen
  13. Hi Phil, Re: The GOP needs a 1/2 dozen John McCains and Adam Kinzingers. You might be getting your wish: JOHN BOEHNER is slated to be the special guest at a Monday afternoon Zoom fundraiser for Rep. ANTHONY GONZALEZ (R-Ohio) PAUL RYAN was the special guest at an event in Alexandria for Rep. LIZ CHENEY (R-Wyo.) POLITICO Playbook: Boehner backs House incumbent targeted by Trump - POLITICO Looks something like the Shootout at the OK Corral. Jerry Baumchen
  14. Hi Wendy, Re: That's disingenuous, and you know it. Of course he does know it. His whole argument is the old 'Hey, look over here,' so as not to actually discuss the issue at hand. Cowardly IMO. Jerry Baumchen
  15. Hi Joe, I'm thinking the answer is 'Yes.' Jerry Baumchen
  16. Hi Keith, Re: Now for some tougher ones. While there are few things you list that I would not care for, given the choice of where we are today or your recommendations; I would absolutely support every one of them. Re: Everyone has to be receptive to giving up something. ABSOLUTELY - I could not agree more. This discussion reminds me of the bell curve; now we just have to get rid of both the far right thinking and the far left thinking. I actually think we are making good progress. And to Will ( Yoink ), great post, let's keep this going. Jerry Baumchen
  17. Hi Keith, First, I believe that you & I are 'somewhat' in the same boat => We want something to be changed. Also, some people think that it not fair to pick a portion of a post & attack; I do not. Re: What's the second thing to happen after they take the people's guns - imprison enemies of the state IOW: those who speak out against the government. When you review John Kallend's listings of gun deaths per population of modern societies, your argument is vacant. Australia did a massive turn-around on gun control & I do not hear or read of imprison enemies of the state IOW: those who speak out against the government. And I do know that this ( take the people's guns ) has happened in modern history . Jerry Baumchen
  18. Hi Bill, That reminds me of the old joke about the businessman wanting to hire an accountant. He brought 3 of them in for an interview & asked each: 'What is 2 and 2?' 1st guy: 'It is 4.' 2nd guy: 'It could be 4 or it could be 22.' 3rd guy: 'What do you want it to be?' Guess who got hired? Jerry Baumchen
  19. Hi Rob, The latest version of the TSO standard requires that the 'heavy' drops be at 1.1 times the weight to be certificated to, with a minimum 'floor weight' that I do not remember just now. While testing under C23(b) we had to drop at 400 lbs. Jerry Baumchen
  20. Hi air, I defy you to show me one piece of legislation that is a 'perfect answer.' Jerry Baumchen
  21. Hi air, I think you will find that the vast majority of these mass killers obtained them legally. Now what? Jerry Baumchen
  22. Hi Rich, You remind me of Ronald Reagan; he had a 15-word solution to every problem in this country. He was far from reality. Jerry Baumchen
  23. Hi Keith, Not a problem; I just do not care to read into something other than as presented. While I would like to see the 2nd revised or done away with, I seriously doubt that it will happen within my lifetime, or longer. I would like to have some states enact a law(s) that say that no weapon/gun can hold more than one bullet at a time. Somewhat like the old flintlock rifles. I do think that this would pass a SCOTUS exam. While it would not stop all killing, I do feel it would make a huge dent in these mass killings what seem so common in this country. Lastly, I absolutely agree with John Kallend that it is completely nutz that this country has a Constitution that allows these mass killings to occur. IMO we are better than that. Jerry Baumchen PS) I bought my one and only gun ( a single shot Remington 22 cal ) when I was 13 yrs old. I just walked up to the local pharmacy, shoe store, gun shop ( all-in-one ) and paid $5 for it; the cleaning kit cost me $8.
  24. Hi Keith, Re: At some point, we have got to say - our way isn't working, stop it, tear it down and start over. Is this not the argument that Skydekker & Gowlerk are presenting? Jerry Baumchen
