  1. Hi Joe, I went to high school with a stutterer; his last name was Struthers. You can probably guess the hell endured. I have great admiration for Joe Biden for his overcoming his stuttering; few can do it. I am just fine with 'someone who sometimes has difficulties speaking.' Jerry Baumchen

  18. Hi airdvr, From the rules about posting in SC: External text from other sources: Copying and pasting the words of somebody else is not a conversation. At the very least, the person should make a comment in relation to the wall of text they've copied and posted so we know where the poster himself stands in relationship to it. Give it some context so you aren't simply acting as a copy and paste meat robot on behalf for some PR firm, lobbying group, or news site. It doesn't have to be much, but at least it gives us somebody we can converse with. We can't converse with the author of the wall of copy and pasted text, because that person simply isn't here Jerry Baumchen

  23. Hi Bill, I know someone who had a somewhat 'huge' tax increase due to a 'small' increase in income. However, it may have been an overall tax increase. The result of both federal taxes & Oregon state income taxes. Jerry Baumchen
  24. Hi Bill, Re: Why not keep the current progressive scale and just simplify the tax code? I agree with this with one exception. The current system of progressive scale is a plateau system. This what I do not like. If you make just one dollar more in income, it can change your taxes from 18% to 26% ( I think those are correct numbers - if they are not, I am sure you know what I am talking about ). IMO it should be an increasing slope system where that one dollar of income does not impact you so much. Jerry Baumchen
