  1. Thom Hartmann wrote recently that it's time we make real the effects of guns by showing pictures of the murdered kids, as Emmett Till's mother so bravely did after he was killed. I agree.
  2. Wasn't it a Church event? If the kids weren't praying how can gun fondlers be held responsible?
  3. I'm guessing that Cabinet Level ass kissing show was staged to make clear that no matter the seriousness of Trumps obvious medical infirmities and/or mental decline no one should be counting on relief from the 25th Amendment.
  4. Without a doubt this. Also, I do think being from Oregon helps. We seem to have a favorable reputation amongst Europeans and Scandinavians. (No clue if being from Texas or speaking with a southern accent are problematic) Could be not flying a giant American flag like the bubbas fly on their trucks or starting right in on politics gives a positive first impression, too. We have no languages impediments, usually. Even in groups with mixed nationalities everyone naturally defaults to english, even helping each other for our benefit.
  5. We spend most of the year out of the US. We associate with Europeans more than Americans along the way. We feel like we are taken for who we are, admittedly liberal Americans, and have yet to feel slighted because of Trump or Trumpism.
  6. Stick to your field. MDMA in administered in correct proportion to cocaine and cooled to within 12 degrees of 32 degrees Fahrenheit is very suspected of possibly countering defects in Mitochondria, even while you are still alive.
  7. Most concerning was Bondi's assertion that boaters, even in the Pacific Ocean, will be targeted for drinking over Labor Day weekend.

They hope against truth, and will wait and wait pretending not enough evidence is yet before them when the truth is that fear of being the next to lose is what holds them back. That's the problem. The second amendment became a pure hypothetical in 1865, plan and simple. I won't take arms and rise up against the military and neither will meaningful numbers of any affected group, especially those who believe they will. We will simply accept the changes and survive as best we can.

Of course. All of the rhetoric over needing the second to protect democracy and the American way of life is, these day's, just bullshit. Trained veterans, armed Bubba's, and gopher shooting DZO's won't be rising up to oppose tyranny no matter the talk about years of service defending our nation or gardens. The truth is that we really don't care if small groups of citizens lose some or all of their freedoms to where we'd risk our own asses in their defense. We'll deplore it, absolutely, but if our democratic form of government continues to be eroded away we'll just sit and watch because we're all in the protected group an autocrat will need. We'll assure ourselves that'll it'll all go back around or that it can't get worse as we sit back and watch it unfold like it was on TV. You can remind me it's the internet and dogkys can scold me with Monty Python reminders, as if I didn't already know, but the point is no one will do a goddamn thing.

Maybe, but in the apparent mean time we need time to contemplate the impact on society at large, and ourselves too, of Taylor Swifts engagement.

No takers? No surprise, after all the Second Amendment is just a hypothetical empowerment. Maybe those with gun familiarity and marching skills can get their nut joining one of Trumps newly authorized "Quick Reaction Forces" to stop protests wherever he finds them irritating. Bullshit? Nope: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/08/additional-measures-to-address-the-crime-emergency-in-the-district-of-columbia/ Additional Measures to Address the Crime Emergency in the District of Columbia – The White House.mhtml

This ought to get me some push back: as a veteran and also a patriotic citizen is there anything you think Trump might do, or believe he is capable of doing based on his actions to date, that would cause you to take up arms against whichever police or armed forces he was using to commit the unforgivable offense? You know, the ostensible reason for the second amendment. Of course anyone, veterans or not, should feel free to opine.

Maybe if we started by changing the mantra to: I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and the Flag we use to represent the values of our nation.

I hear you but cannot bring myself to see it so cut and dried. Our Flag is a powerful symbol and a justification for what many do, be it right or wrong in any single persons opinion. Unfortunately it is also a powerful tool for misdirection which is the conundrum; the problem with powerful symbols is you never know who is going to find a way to use them. Gott mit uns.
  15. True enough. On the other hand all bread got toasted and all 30 Rock shows got watched.
  16. Excellent point. We can hang seats from the tips and sell rides.

Meanwhile, today in the Oval Office meeting with the South Korean President, Trump brought up a topic of conversation he had with Kim Jong Un: "The whole issue of the women. Comfort women. Very specifically. We talked and that was a very big problem for Korea, not for Japan. Japan was, wanted to go, they want to get on. But Korea was very stuck on that," Trump said. Finally, subject matter he's expert on.

I guess you aren’t completely impenetrable. Now go calm your offended nerves and contemplate on the myriad other attacks Trump has made on our former right to free speech.
  20. Actually you do seem to be trying harder, I don't get to see your posts except when others reply but that small sample shows better writing. If you want to step up your game even more stop using LOL, it's now meaningless, really, and for the sake of whomever you pray to stop with the videos, too. FYI, the massa comment is neither appropriate or funny. Rather it makes light of one of americas darkest times and is simply insulting to the descendants of those who had to use the term or risk suffering the lash.
  21. Son-of-a-bitch, on top of every other accomplishment you also speak fluent richravizza.
  22. Good. Wind farms are a real pox on any landscape anywhere and they don't produce enough power per hour of ugly. That and we have no clue what to do with the blades at decommissioning. Better to build nuclear plants, fission, fusion, big, small, whatever, and be flummoxed by nuclear waste instead. AI is already increasing current electricity costs and forecast demand, as more centers come online, indicates even higher prices ahead if not rationing. Irritating as it is, seems to me that anyone planning to be dead in the next 20 years should be investing in fossil fuels.

Hero is a big word and exaggerated in most contexts. Useful tool is probably more like it, seems to me.
