But is it 50/50 you think? I have doubts.
  2. So you’re still good then?

Good that we have folks so bereft of figuring abilities offering suggestions. But, I was thinking of the folks in uniform, and not necessarily the ones assigned to glorify Dear Leader on his special day. What percentage of our uniformed services, and break it down by branch if you want, support Trump to where they think it's a swell idea?

Not including a perceived obligation to obey their Commander in Chief in all things, what percentage of our armed forces do you, or anyone here for that matter, think would be happy to do it simply because they are Trump supporters?
  5. I'm even ready to back David Hogg. Yes he's on the scrawny side (some of us are) but he's a fighter and we need fighters first.
  6. Born in Pakistan and lived in Turkey, India, and Sri Lanka until a junior in high school? And you reckon enough American voters are worldly and circumspect enough that when the republican smear him as a traitor and a mole they'll just laugh it off? We need a solid, go to war, asshole: Pritzker is at least giving it a go and he has his own loot.

They saying goes, hope in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills first. That said there are 20 R Senators up in 2026 and the House is, according to history, scheduled to go D. Maybe we can pass the time fantasizing about President Jeffries.
  8. On top of all other valuable research coming out of Antartica they've discovered that when you put a bunch of people in close contact for six months they start picking up each others accents. Um, duh? (https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20240223-scientists-in-antarctica-developed-their-own-accent-after-six-months-of-isolation) No papers yet on if they are also start looking cuter or if the guys aren't being such jerks sometimes. Seriously, as important as ice can be to the perfect G&T, I'm thinking we have several other present and more important issues at hand that are well outside any margin of variability.
  9. Yes well, the problem is the wrong people believe offensive issues with our government might need a solution that involves guns.
  10. And even if the trade off would have never been a million lives, in retrospect which is the rights entire position besides personal inconvenience, it was not irrational to believe, based on information then in hand, that it was a legitimate feature of humanity to concern ourselves with crowded ICU's, a shortage of ventilators, the lives of kids and old folks, and so on. Besides, there are always bright spots if you look a little. I for one will never lose the joy I felt the first time I was wearing a hoody and a mask and walked without concern into a bank.
  11. I can't be the only one seeing a worldwide trend here. Pretty obviously there are now just too many rats on the rock.
  12. You won't get this either but I appreciate your efforts here.

You're good. Just bear in mind you'll be dealing with a lot of sensitive people after graduation.

Look here, we didn't send you off to school to learn to argue with your elders even if we are wrong.
  15. This is more of what we need:https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/27/us/politics/jb-pritzker-2028-new-hampshire-trump-democrats.html and a crap load less of AOC. But we won't because too many of us are slow learners who'll trumpet social justice first and actually winning so some good might be done dead last, if at all.
  16. The glaring truth that base698, and others who believe the same, ignore is that we who supported restrictions-even with some degree of doubt-did it not for ourselves but for our fellow citizens. They, invariably as base698 has again made evident, take their exceptions because they personally were in some way limited. Sadly, that exact psychology is on open display again with their support of Trumps policies that limit or harm their fellow human beings.
  17. That's the thing, really, that I was thinking about. ICU, and just ER, space was at a premium, ventilators were in short supply etc, and so on. It was real and the prospect that it could totally get beyond any semblance of control was real. I have zero regrets that I was supportive of some restrictions I now believe were overdone because I fully believe those restrictions did save some lives and prevent some lives from being made permanently worse and so on as we've already discussed on these pages more than enough. None of which in any way, shape, or form, justifies the insensible and irrational over reaction in the opposite direction some here propose is the right course.
  18. A completely ridiculous equivalency. Governments are supposed to be concerned with the public welfare which often includes attenuation of some personal freedoms. Speeding in school zones and spreading disease are just two. Attenuating your freedom to walk the streets of a country of which you are a legal resident or just to speak your mind, in particular if you are a journalist, wouldn't be two. You really need to get out of your news box and get back to thinking objectively.

I agree, I made an undeserved insult and she's a real wizard. As I'm unlikely ever to agree she's well meaning, can I substitute selfishly evil?

So, a self serving, pea brained, wanna be influencer, without an anchor in even her own reality, praying for her 15 minutes of fame? As I see it everyone is now totally fucked separated only by degree of age. I am by all comparisons very lucky, mostly by chance. I have my boat, aka The Peoples Republic of Joe, and my DZ, JoeVille, (the original name on the plat by the way) and a home on my own airport. Everyone who works with me are totally awesome and cool, (almost as if they were hand picked) have long known I'm a screaming liberal, and all of my prime customers are already too scared to do other than toe the line. Even my neighbors think we're great to have next door. From here on out my first concern will be me and mine. I hope everyone does the same for their friends because we are, apparently, the only friends we have.
  21. Your perception skills are a tad skewed, methinks. Certainly your understanding of how Bill thinks isn't even close. Your admission that Trump supporters, including you, are believers in weaponizing the legal system to attack their enemies does naught but confirm all that we've been saying all along. So you just carry on not seeing how your political views are destroying the fabric of the nation and making a mockery of the Constitution, our apparently fragile separation of powers, and the judicial system that was supposed to hold it all together. You see, the thing of it is we all need to be able to hold our noses and accept what we do not like in the name of holding together the nation; that is in fact job one. What Trump is now doing and what supporters such as yourself are now doing is the polar opposite of that but you just keep pretending it will all rebalance nicely once your pet peeves, personal agenda, and identified enemies are dealt with properly.
  22. So's the bible, best I can tell. I was inspired by Ken, actually, as I'm never surprised to see a conspiracy theorist (willing victim) wearing a Christian cross.
  23. Helpful words to live by, as always, are in the bible. Good that we aren't saddled with that giggling, black, Sataness Harris. So is Trump actually a swell fellow disguised as Satan?
  24. That's just swell. No if, in exchange for his Blue Slip position, he'd just offer to walk in front of a bus on the way out......
