  1. Congratulations, I just deleted my longest post to date. I'm learning, I guess.
  2. The most dysfunctional branch of our government, excepting our absurd supreme court, is the house. Republicans will make what is left of our somewhat functioning democracy a farce. Good for you, I guess.
  3. I've lately been posting morosely about our future to the point that Phil is concerned about my booze supply. I'm grateful for his concern, and have endeavored to make the necessary corrections, but the facts on the ground are anything but encouraging. Hard times are a comin' for many. Folks who live in blood red states will have a tough row to hoe. For those of us in blue states not a lot will change. Also, we skydive operators are ring fenced against recessionary economies if history remains intact. Everyone else should plan to hunker down.
  4. Good enough but he'd might as well have heralded the importance of wave packets and action at a distance. He's up explaining reality because we're fucked.
  5. Any form of Skydiving or crappy advice from an incompetent DZO or USPA can get people hurt or killed, just sayin'. I am in absolute opposition with the idea that separating HP traffic from normal canopy traffic by time is effective. It's just a way to address a real problem with an inferior solution so USPA can claim they are really addressing the problem and continue to give "A" grades to DZ's with small landing areas. They are not addressing the problem; they are causing the problem. Unless my previous conversations with USPA President Chuck Akers are, um, misremembered he supports the idea of separating HP traffic from normal traffic by time. I consider that to be a dangerous philosophy. So, I went to what for me was another way to make a point: sarcasm. Disagree with my method if you desire but I don't think I've harmed anyone in my desire to help everyone.
  6. Two dozen posts and not a mention of Trump. Too bad it wasn’t done more artfully. I’ll do better, promise.
  7. Just let this analysis detonate in your brain: Thomas Traumann, an independent political analyst, compared the election results with US President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory, noting Brazil’s divisions. “The huge challenge that Lula has will be to pacify the country,” said Traumann. “People are not only polarised on political matters, but also have different values, identity and opinions. What’s more they don’t care what the other side’s values, identities and opinions are.” It's not just here, it's burgeoning worldwide. Could be our best solution is a meteor.
  8. Dead or alive? I've been punked.
  9. Oh, this old world keeps spinning round It's a wonder tall trees ain't layin' down There comes a time.
  10. Let no one claim that unrestricted big turns in the general canopy flight area are dangerous. It's so easy to blame the swooper but why wasn't the lower jumper looking up? This is 2022 and we've evolved beyond old thinking. No longer does the low man have the right of way: modern parachutes have rendered that old thinking obsolete. The reality now is that the low man is in the way and should defend themselves accordingly, pulling at 10 Grand for example. I have no doubt that the honorable DZO at this unfortunate facility can argue that they do a usually great job of separating HP flight from Unfortunate Flight according to USPA Standards. But the sad reality is that our Gods are weak and consequently many bad things happen.
  11. Yep. They are now saying it out loud: no one has a right to say no to Christianity. Who could have seen that coming?
  12. Worse, he rides Jet Ski's near boats on anchor at cocktail hour. Unforgivable.
  13. Actually, I'm putting to rest two bottles of 1998 Grand Cru Burgundy tonight. Last night I dreamt that they went bad in the bottle, leapt out of bed freaked out, and immediately pulled them for consumption just to be able to sleep. They're drinking pretentiously beautifully in a very Mondrian sort of way.
  14. So what's your theory? Was Paul Pelosi waiting, hammer in hand, to ambush Nancy and the pool boy she's been banging showed up off schedule and saved the day?
  15. If you're happy then the entire purpose of this forum and all of the hard work by everyone, especially BIGUN, has been worth it. Time to turn out the lights.
  16. 15 months ago he either mis-stated at a time of great confusion, attempted to cajole a resisting population for the greater good, or just plain fucked up and you're just now going ballistic?
  17. You're right. Saying he was a hack was wrong. How about he went hack?
  18. At the risk of exposing my neanderthal self, I have never considered Mondrian to be anything more than a hack. Schadenfreude is only the beginning of the happiness I feel now that one of his ridiculous artworks was discovered to be hanging upside down for 75 years in a Dutch Museum. Even better are all of the art understander's and their absurd explanations about how the sky was at the bottom but not at the top yada, yada, yada. No surprise is that the most of Mondrian's works were labeled on the back side for top and bottom orientation because who could know? You know, just like current US politics.
  19. The bottom line here is that it was an assassination attempt on the sitting Speaker of the House of Representatives. According to the right wing noise machine it was nothing more than something to be expected when you live in a nice neighborhood in a liberal state. Of course, hopes and prayers for Mr.Pelosi are being offered as expected. Anything but to acknowledge Trump, R politicians and Fox et al. are responsible. And still odds are that too many voters will vote against Biden and his perceived economic wrongs rather than the preservation of American democracy in this election. American exceptionalism, indeed.
  20. That was dumb. Thanks. No pre-drinking I'm thinking but I'll be in the DWI's and ready.
  21. Don't give up on your ED pills, be patient.
  22. Rum. Damn supply chains, not a bottle of El Dorado 21 around. I think a bottle or two on hand for November 6 might be a good idea.
