  1. I don't know what's scarier. The fact that I read the whole thing or the fact that I understood it. I need to go decompress with a nice pop-up book now. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  2. "An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind." -Mohandas Gandhi Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  3. Umm.....I believe the word you're looking for is MULTIPLE! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  4. Considering every single post you've made to these forums has been regarding the Vigil, don't ya' think this might be construed as advertising? Do you work for Vigil? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  5. Should be based on your experiences, do you really want to have answers on how othrs better themselves instead of what you should be doing? I have to agree with Phree's take on this. I found the answers to the first part with a simple Google search, but the last part should really be your own experiences. Maybe this is why your professor isn't really impressed? 6. Huh?! Nobody will ever play Hendrix better than Jimi himself did, and as it was meant to be played...raw, dirty, and from his soul. Someone may do a remake that you "prefer" over the Hendrix version, but that doesn't mean it's overall better. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  7. Exactly. Anyone can learn to compose music, but only 1 in maybe a billion can do it as well as Motzart, Beethoven, etc. Anyone can learn to ride a motorcycle, but, again, how many can storm 250 Moto GP like Valentino Rossi? I didn't say what I said to be racist, I meant it for what it was. Matisyahu has a phenominal talent. The great blend of Rasta and Dub styles...it's very reminiscent of Banton, Bushman, or Mikey Dread. That's what truly blew me away. And, yes, I was a bit surprised that it was coming from a Hassidic, as that's not something one sees everyday. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  8. Okay, I'm really, truly impressed. I can't believe that kind of reggae / Kingston flow is coming out of this guy! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  9. And read Phree's previous post again, while you're at it. He does mention wanting a larger main for jumping at a new or extremely busy DZ. This is one of those times where less talking and more reading might be apropos on your part. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  10. To be a Tandem instructor you must have 500 jumps, 3 years in sport, and already have one other rating (Coach, AFF, IAD) I recommend that you look through the Skydivers Information Manual (SIM) on the USPA website. www.uspa.org 2005 USPA SIM Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  11. Depends on the model, or that specific unit, I'd say. I can set off my Protrack by front-risering my Stiletto. And it's a 190. I swapped Protracks with a friend and I couldn't set his off, but he could set mine off with his Samurai. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. That's a good point. RW can definitely get hairy when you're trying to crank points and doing a lot of piece rotations, etc. I've seen some hard-core 4-way people come down with cracked full-face visors more than once. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I'll man-up enough to say that I've biffed in when trying to go big. The last time was pulling a small carve during a swoop. Yeah, I took it on the side on that one. I knew you'd know that too. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  14. Per FAA regulations, above 15,000' MSL, supplemental oxygen is required. Who wants to deal with that on a regular basis? Not me. Now, because of that 15,000' limit, and the fact that very few places are at sea-level, you get the 13,500' cap. Let's say that you're at a DZ that has an elevation of 1000'. That means you can go to 14,000 AGL. 14,000 AGL + 1000' elevation = 15,000MSL. MSL = Mean Sea Level, and AGL = Above Ground Level. There are times when some places will do high-altitude loads, but those are only generally to 23,000'. When you start getting closer to 30K', you have to have bail-out oxygen bottles, special thermal gear, etc... Start going higher than that and you'll need a pressure suit because you can cram all the tank oxygen you want into your lungs, but you can't do anything with it because the oxygen partial pressure is too low. And let's not even get started with how cold it is above 20K, even in AZ or FL during the summer. That's some cold stuff. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

A good thing to also keep in your gear bag is Shout stain-removing wipes. They're great for grass stains, etc... The birthday was great, epic, wonderful. Thanks for asking!
  18. Nope, it's personal choice. There are those who wear full-face helmets to freefly in, and those who wear open-face helmets to do RW in. I use my Mindwarp for all my jumps (Birdman, RW, FF) because I can't stand having my peripheral vision cut off. For that reason, I prefer open-face helmets. 19. Most bad people on the streets of the US don't have RPG's, mortars, AK-47's, grenades, missiles, and IED's. Well, unless you go to Detroit. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  20. Because I like having my own, personal packaho. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  21. Now that's a bag I'd love to have in my rig. Just two stows to worry about and it shouldn't be too picky on sizing. If I could buy one today I'd be all over it. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  22. Heh, yeah, I know, that just doesn't sound right at all. But the current record is around 450' now, IIRC. Heck, I'm ecstatic when I can break 100' on my Stiletto.
  23. Cheap and good at 5x the price, Bonnie.
  24. To add to what GravityGirl said, when I was an instructor, I never let my students use audibles. As for the portion of your text I bolded, you never, ever want to wait on those beeps. They should be set just a smidge lower than your actual breakoff and deployment altitudes. If you hear that beep before you've started doing them, then you've just screwed up. You should use your audible as a backup device, not something you depend on. It can fail like anything else. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

IANAR (I am not a rigger), but I've always had really good success with 2-3 light coats. I use 2 light coats all over, and the last light coat on the white parts of my rig. I let it dry for a few hours between coats. My Mirage is 4 years old and the white trim tape and embroidery is still white. It gets grungy during the year, but during my yearly washing of my rig it cleans up very easily. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
