MonkeyLip could easily pass as Kurt Russel's younger twin. LouDiamond and the real Lou Diamond Phillips are eerily close, too. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Depends upon the electronics...I got a Neptune knowing full well there were some bugs at the time of release, and now it's a great product. But an AAD? This is where I'll follow Ron's 2 year rule on new toys. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Sounds like footage I will definitely have to check out if/when it hits the Imax in my area. Thanks for the info, Bo! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Did he follow the directions on the can or the directions of a rigger? My Mirage is bright purple with white trim and mine didn't bleed when I Scotchguarded it. You have to use light coats! One light coat, let dry for several hours, then one more light coat. Have him soak the rig in a tub with water and Woolite for an hour or so. Nylon doesn't take to dying very well so the bleeding should hopefully come right out. You might want to also check with Mirage in the morning to see what they say. Edited to add: Don't hold the can close to the rig when spraying either....18" away should be just fine. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Isn't an Imax rig close to 80 pounds?! I'd kind of doubt that one with that kind of tracking going on. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Nope....you get no props, MonoUno.....that's how it was handed down to me when I got my first canopy with a collapsible slider 5 years ago. It's a direct take on Smokey The Bear. But I'll still let you buy me a cockatillio. I do find it interesting though that all of skydiving's little "safety & reminder" sayings are almost identical across the country. It shows how the culture has expanded out and rippled back a bit..... Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

It's all yours and Sunshine's fault....I was IM'ing with both of you and you both disappeared....I thought it might just be an IL thing since you both live there, but I restarted Messenger just to be sure. Now I can't get back in. Dammit...someone get a hold of Amazon, STAT! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Holy Schnikes! At least I wasn't the only one who thought about TreeMan. Where has that guy been? You know....I've always wondered if he was related to SkymonkeyOne. It wouldn't surprise me. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Sabre 2 170 Observations & Advice Please
Kris replied to StearmanR985's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Agreed, Ian. It does sound like he's flaring too high. I've jumped a Sabre2 demo loaded at 1.5, and even on a no-wind day, I never had to take more than one or two steps on touchdown. It's really spooky when you start bringing your flare height down, but once you have the proper timing and technique dialed in, it will serve you well no matter what the landing conditions. Your flare will also be so much more efficient as well. Another thing to look at is how much slack there is in the brake lines. If there is a ton of slack (like there was on the demo I tried) he won't have as much to put into the flare. Jeff, you should not have to carve (or hook) any canopy to get a decent landing out of it. Once you slow down to normal speed it's a regular landing anyway. If you have to induce speed to get a good landing your experience level isn't up to the task. Slider noise is bad. Remember, Only YOU can prevent "Slider Flappida". Also, the less flapping the slider does = the less wear the grommets are probably going to do on your lines. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Considerations when chopping a rental canopy
Kris replied to Nightingale's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No piece of equipment, whether it belongs to you or not, is worth your life. Period. If you cannot unfuck yourself by the time you hit your hard-deck then Mr. Canopy (or Mr. Pilot Chute, or Ms. Hacky) is no longer your friend. You should not spend any more time with a mal just because it isn't your gear. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -
where can i see some really good tracking?
Kris replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Heh...I was on that dive with Phree. That track he pulled is nice to watch on video, but it was amazing to see from the air. I, too, stole part of the technique for my track. At 5'8", 235# I've gotten down to 98mph in my track these days. Not bad considering my normal arched belly speed is in the low 140's. Which is why I don't arch anymore. And good on you for looking at other techniques and trying them out!! Tracking is absolutely a survival skill, not just something to do after the dive is complete. Interesting, I would have thought that the power would simply be cut off or it would turn off without warning. A misfire caused by a loss of power? Sounds like a ticking time bomb! Not necessarily. You're speculating without knowing the facts from any failure analysis testing that may have been done. If the wiring was pinched, it could have cut through the insulation and created a short-circuit somewhere on the circuit-board, for-instance. I'm sure I could find the right trace on a Cypres or Astra circuit board that, if hit with a few volts, would trigger a mis-fire. Until the facts are known I'd hardly call it a 'ticking time bomb'. whats the most amazing/beautiful thing you have seen under canopy?
Kris replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
A giganamous (that's my new word of the day) rainbow. The thing was huge, intensly bright, and appeared to arc from horizon to horizon. I still get good chills thinking about it. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™ -
But I doubt it. Hey, I didn't say it would be a bad thing. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

hmmmm......and I wonder just where Bytchykins got the idea for the color scheme on that Classic... *off to reassure my purple & silver GTi that she was first* Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

When something made of carbon-fiber breaks, depending on the laminate, it can create sharp, jagged edges. When fiberglass breaks, it's generally not nearly as rough-edged. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Get some laminating sheets from Wal-Mart and encase it in that. A photocopy would be a good thing, too. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
