Why is it the consrvative-types get their panties all bunched when some ass-fucks try to and sucessfully piss you off? Not all of this is distorted body image. I see a lot of people who are carrying around what appears to be a fairly serious amount of weight. And since I see more of them in places where cars are common than where public transportation is common, I don't think it's all evolution Whoosh. I don't follow you. Wanna dumb it down for me? I think very little of it is distorted body image. I think that fat people know they're fat. I think there are a few people who have health risks associated with obesity who don't recognize they're fat because they're not as fat as all those *really* fat people. They feel kinda skinny in comparison. And it SHOL' ain't all evolution. There's definitely a genetic predisposition for some people to be overweight...there have been times when there's been a real survival advantage for people who held onto fat. Well, if you're "shy" then I'll not press the issue. But you are right. It's really a specific kind of obesity that's unhealthy, especially in a person who the BMI charts show bordering on obesity, and to use a BMI as a measure of health and fitness in this group is pretty silly, imho. There's a fantastic correlation between ice cream sales and murder rates, too. Well....epidemic often refers to disease, but it also means "extremely prevalent, widespread" (dictionary.com). Obesity has an ICD-9 code for billing, and, unlike the common cold, there's a high rate of morbidity and mortality associated with it. I get where you're coming from, but I agree that it's an epidemic. BMI. Would be nice to have a more valid measure. But there's a pretty decent correlation between BMI and syndromes associated with obesity. There's a similar issue with percent body fat. Subcutaneous body fat really isn't all that bad for you. In fact, a fat ass might just be protective against the very things that obesity is known to be associated with--diabetes, cardiovascular disease. It's intra-abdominal fat that seems to be the bad juju--"Central obesity." People with the big gut are more at risk than people with the fat ass. Either way, it's enough of a problem that a helluva lot of research dollars are being funneled into understanding the sequelae of obesity. It would be fun to be hot like that....especially if you were just naturally that way (like VSG seems to be). But I really like that I can go without make-up...it ain't pretty....and people still like and respect me despite my lack of "hotness."
