  1. PMing, as to avoid feeding the trolls.
  2. I agree, that is why I live in a country where I don't need a weapon to make myself or my family feel safe. So do I, even though I'm in the same country as the gun-nuts. Don't take the diatribes you see in this forum as representative of your southern neighbors. We don't all bolster our egos with firearms and throw around police slang about "perps" to make attempts at vigilantism seem justified. Lots (not Lotts) of Americans are comfortable with both the level of police protection we have and with the frequently underestimated power of common sense. We don't all see the need to personally and violently strike back at every misdeed with equal or greater force. We don't see the point in chasing down and confronting criminals at gunpoint, only to increase our own likelihood of injury and death. Next time you and your family are near Washington DC, drop by my place. We'll sightsee, shop and dine downtown without fearing for our lives or carrying an arsenal, then retire to my house in the suburbs, where we'll sleep soundly and safely without a gun nearby.
  3. Finally, somebody that understands!
  4. Vinny, You are getting the whole thing wrong. It is actually a perfectly-conceived plan. You just have to grasp the subtleties. 5% is more than enough, when it is tied into Medicare/SS reform. You see, GWB is planning to offer seniors the option of emigrating to Mars. They will be the next pioneers of spaceflight. How will the finances work, you ask? Simple. As the seniors all leave for Mars, we stop paying for their medical care and SS. I mean, hey, they don't live here any more. Once you wrap your brain around those tremendous cost savings, you might wonder how we can economically get all the seniors to Mars. Simple. Freeze-drying. With the human body being well over 90% water, if we freeze-dry them and send them to Mars, we only have to deal with a shipping weight of a few pounds per person. How to reconstitute and revive them? Well, there has to be water there somewhere. And does it matter anyway? By then, they'll be foriegners, so according to GWB, they won't matter anyway.
  5. Nope. Never been robbed. I think that is due to a combination of common sense and luck. Even given the situation of a robbery, the action most likely to have you live through it is probably to give them the money. Of course, many will disagree with that. But the contents of my wallet aren't worth my life, so I'd certainly use it as a distraction/enticement to get through the situation. I used to work the graveyard shift at a gas station. I was in the building, behind the bulletproof glass. A guy came by and scoped out the situation one night. He ended up buying cigarettes from me, then walked over and tried to rob the 7-11. He got the money and ran, but didn't make it 100 yards before he got snagged by the cops.
  6. Take a walk through a good craft store like AC Moore, Michaels, etc. You'll get about a million ideas. Or you can always do my favorite, and play "Fun with duct tape" with the kids. Lucy isn't big into crafts yet. But I'm sure she will be, as it is in her genes. I have woodworking, ceramic and art projects scattered around the house. My wife makes home-made name plaques for all our friends that have kids. Pre-cut letters, Sculpey clay, paint, etc.
  7. I haven't done U of Phoenix, but I've done Internet-based undergrad classes, so have some related experience. I also just started an online dual-degree masters program. (Hence the drop in my postwhoring.) Are you looking at online programs, tele-classes or ones where you physically go to a class with the teacher? Most schools still have in-state vs out-of-state tuition differences, which can be quite dramatic.

    Baby Names

We have until April to think about this. Then we'll have to pick. If we haven't had the baby by May, it's name will be "Out Godamnit Fields", regardless of gender.

    Baby Names

Not really, but I do plan to print this thread off and take it home for discussion. I won't tell whose names we'll consider and which suggestions we'll just laugh at.

Umm.... No. Yes, he'd learn to fight, but I don't want to have to pay that many hospital bills. We don't know the gender, but "April" is definitely out if it is a boy.

That's a great idea. Noone could accuse him of not being flexible. I bet even Bill Von could get behind this. Talk about about a green candidate.

Hmm. Interesting. I also think Gumby is a great American. We agree on something? GUMBY FOR PRESIDENT!
  13. Chris, I haven't had a serious injury like that, but I'll give you my $.02. Hang in there, bitch if you feel like it, and use us as a support network. Out of this group, somebody has pretty much always been in a worse situation and pulled out. Look for inspiration. Use your faith. You'll make it through this. Now, to inject a moment of levity: You sound like a full-fledged skydiver!
  14. I haven't listened yet, but my educated guess is that I should listen on headphone not speakers.
  15. 6 days 32 jumps As posted in another thread, numerous firsts as well. It was a great time.
  16. Aw, c'mon Katie, you gave so many of us our first chic kiss! Did you do your 200th? 200th jump or 200th chic kiss? She was really on a roll.
  17. You do things like fly to Eloy for the Holiday Boogie. Quit yer whinin' man! You're starting to sound like a sissy little girl whose Barbie doll just got abused by her brother's GI Joe.
  18. Star Wars... Star Trek. Not quite, but close enough.... Ivan, Keely. Keely, Ivan.
  19. Most excellent! But you forgot one: Lackoreplyophobia... Fear of typing a post of more than a couple lines without somebody replying to it. Pokes NacMac in the ribs.
