when is your paper due? I won't be home til late tonight, which is the soonest I could get to the paper on my hard drive.
-
post the exact requirements from the professor, so I can read it. a list of tables or figures is something sometimes attached to a table of contents as a second or third page, stating where the tables and/or figures are located in your report and their titles. http://www.mdsg.umd.edu/wit/format.htm http://www.uwstout.edu/grad/faq_paper.html http://books.dillard.edu/Writing%20a%20scholarly%20paper.htm

yup. Qualitative and Quantitative are types of analysis. Quantitative deals with numbers, "quantities." while qualitative tends to deal with individuals. Quantitative studies are very measurable, usually done with easily calculated surveys. Quantitative generally involves personal interviews. The second paper I posted was a quantitative study. I have a qualitative one, but its on my computer at home. The topic of my qualitative paper was the matriculation of second generation immigrants (their parents were immigrants, but they were born here) into society, and how they are perceived by new immigrants. were I to do a quantitative study, I'd have gotten a large group of second generation immigrants and a group of first generation immigrants and surveyed them, using an easily calculated Likert scale of 1-5, and a list of statements, such as "second generation immigrants forget their roots" and have them rate the statement as 1-strongly disagree through 5-strongly agree, and so on... what I actually did, since the paper was qualitative, was I chose two students in my class, one was a second generation, and one was first, and observed them, interviewed them, interviewed their family, friends, and other teachers, and drew conclusions accordingly. My study focused entirely on these two students, which, according to my research, others had drawn a similar conclusion. here's another link: http://www.asiamarketresearch.com/columns/market5.htm

tell her to write it, email it to me, and I'll help her proofread and organize. I've written so many of the damn things in grad school (thank god its over!!!) that I could probably do it sleepwalking. hmm... now that I think about it, I probably have. LOL. nightingale@nightingalesnest.net

here's two... they're both rough drafts, but you can get the idea of the formatting. first one is at www.nightingalesnest.net/krispaper.doc second one is at www.nightingalesnest.net/EDUC602FinalPaper.doc the second paper is probably closer to what you need. basic outline of a paper is abstract introduction review of literature methodology (if she did her own survey/research study) results/discussion/analysis conclusion works cited/bibliography

I'm not asking him to prove things that should be taken on faith (the ressurection, miracles, etc...) simply things that should be a matter of historical record, such as the crucifiction, the census, Pilate's decrees, etc...

you never know what the situation is between people. I had a psycho ex-bf post on a martial arts board asking for my contact info, saying he had some sparring equipment that he wanted to return. some "helpful" person sent him my phone number, and, after several months of harassing phone calls, finally had to change my phone number. I really wish that this "helpful" person had simply dropped me an email saying "hey, is it ok if I give your phone number to Billy? He's got some of your gear." and the answer would've been "HELL NO! if he's got anything of mine, he can mail it to my instructor. he knows the address of the studio." If the situation is as the poster claims (and it probably is), it seems like Gary would have no reason not to contact the poster.

When I've done tracking dives, I ask manifest which direction I should track. At elsinore, the answer was "track towards the lake." they gave a landmark, so I wasn't trying to figure out which way north was during freefall.
-
hopefully no one who knows this person will pass any info along without his permission... I'd suggest that you give your info to anyone who happens to have a connection to him, and he can contact you.

it is used as a reference, along with many other historical documents. no reputable historian would use the bible as his or her sole reference.

dude, call in sick! deep breaths. chamomile tea (it'll help you relax), no caffeine. get a massage or spend the day in bed with your wife. to keep stress levels down, find a physical activity you enjoy that you can do for an hour or so after work. Yoga, aerobics, kickboxing, karate, something cardio. Working out helps you turn mental stress into physical stress, which is much easier to get rid of.

has he checked the stolen gear information from USPA? if yes, no reason why he shouldn't re-list.

it's limited, but it does exist. the problem with your logic is this: Q: how do you know the bible is the word of god? A: Because the bible says its the word of god. now, try this... Q: how do you know that John Lennon is god? A: because John Lennon says he is. Q: how do you know David Koresh is God? A: because his followers say so. none of these arguments work, because they are based on flawed logic. For something to be declared scientifically accurate, there must be INDEPENDENT verification. The Bible is very much a document of Faith, and nobody's debating that. The question is, is it also a document of History? And historical sources, like scientific sources, must be verified independently. A source cannot verify itself.

ok. then show me documentation from the Romans (not written by Paul, but something outside that agrees with his account).

um... go to the doctor? they'll make you feel better! It's their job!

There is some scientific corroboration for the plagues of Egypt and the parting of the red sea. The other stuff I can't help with. It was on Discovery Channel a while back. Something about a volcanic erruption miles away that could cause the plagues listed (they were very thorough in their explanation, however, I don't remember it), as well as a tidal wave that would make the red sea recede long enough for someone to pass, and come back and bury someone else. Brief information here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/programmes/moses/evidence/plagues.shtml I guess the question of faith comes in when one is considering whether God had a hand in the volcanic erruption. The Bible says God brought down all the plagues, but it doesn't specify how.

I didn't say the Bible had no credibility. I simply asked you to add more credibility by citing a source outside itself from the same era. As Tom brought up, perhaps some kind of Roman documentation?
-
yes, exactly!
-
All I'm saying is find a source other than The Book to establish some credibility for The Book. Find something that is not in the Bible that confirms a Biblical account. Find someone or something outside of the Bible that confirms something inside the Bible. That's it.

do a tandem! it helped me when the fear got to me.
-
the bible was written and compiled by a single group with a single goal. therefore, it is a single source. I simply requested an additional source. I have nothing to prove. I am not the one making any claims here. You are. Therefore, the burden of proof is on you.
-
the burden of proof isn't on me. I asked specifically for a source OUTSIDE the bible, and you have failed (twice) to provide one.
-
no, because you had a single group of people with a single motivation whose works on a single subject were bound into a single document. please show some kind of evidence from outside the bible... some kind of historical record, letter, or whatnot.
-
a source, by definition, cannot validate itself. Validation comes from additional sources OUTSIDE the original. Should you have any such sources, I would be quite interested to see them.
