Amount of weight needed to inflate a pilot chute
Nightingale replied to Nightingale's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've got a pilot chute that's about 24" in diameter. I am attempting to attach a teddy bear to it, so the bear can have its own parachute and the owner can take it for a skydive and "deploy" the bear at about 200 feet. I need to know how much the bear needs to weigh to fully inflate the pilot chute, because short of repeatedly pitching the bear off the roof, I'm not sure how to figure it out. I'll resort to the roof method if necessary, but I was wondering if there is any kind of formula that can be used instead. -
nope... because my brother asked me not to! I had the opportunity to submit some photos for consideration, and my brother said "please don't do that! I read that magazine, and I really don't want to open it and see my SISTER! That'd be just WRONG!"

Yesterday at Perris, someone set the pattern downwind. Most people followed the pattern...quite a few butt slid or tumbled their landings. There were two or three that didn't follow the pattern, yet landed on the grass anyway. Manifest got on the PA and read them the riot act about it. There's no excuse at Perris. There's so much open space that if you don't want to take a downwind, don't land on the grass and stay out of everyone else's pattern.

hehe... bring that video to the boogie? please? I wanna see!!!! I had to leave early to go get some quality kittycat time. Hadn't seen the kitties in five days!

some people are counting reserve rides as half a jump, since a chop is a second canopy ride.

yeah... maybe she was just pissed off that he took what should've been a private, special, romantic moment and turned it in to a spectator sport.

tired! (I gotta stop with this getting only four hours of sleep a night!)

Alana- Please get to the doctor for an x-ray just to be safe, if you haven't already done so. I walked on a broken bone for a couple of days because I thought it was just a sprain. Hugs and vibes and please listen to your doctor and don't jump until he/she says so...the sky will always be there, and you don't want to get hurt worse because the joint is weaker. Even if it is just a sprain, ask about physical therapy. It can be very important. HUGS, girl!

the best way for her to get me back is to be there for my 100th skydive and return the favor!

Perris' student suits are Zute Suits. With the landings I had as a student (home base slides, backflips, forward rolls, feet-knees-face, etc) there was never even a scratch on them. The suits were very durable.

I've read similar studies. They took into account the cost for housing (including space concerns) as well as other costs involved, both for keeping an inmate in prison, and for execution.

send it to Bev! -
My name is Kris, and when I did my first hop n' pop, I exited on the red light. (the JM gave a very dramatic point out the door, and I thought she was telling me to go, but she was telling me to look, because we weren't anywhere near the DZ! Luckily, I was flying a tuna-boat of a canopy and made it back just fine.)

Michele made her 100th jump at Perris today. Since it's her story, I will let her tell the tale, because she is so good at it! However, I wanted to share a few pictures of the pie party! First one is my favorite pic of Michele from the weekend, taken right after she landed after her 100th this morning. Second pic is Michele and some of the folks on the jump waiting to cross the runway. Next pics are of PIE!

We should absolutely NOT execute him. If you execute someone, you simply create a martyr, a name for others of like mind to rally around. Simply lock him up and throw away the key.

minimal, but not impossible. You can always release someone from prison. You can't un-execute them.

I just opened the jumpsuit order form acrobat file in adobe photoshop, and used photoshop to fill in the colors and play around with it. -
this story is a prime example of why I cannot support the death penalty. Our justice system, while good, is far from infallible.

its been explained in other threads. A reserve ride.

the thing is, if he doesn't trust her, cutting away is better for all sides, no matter where the fault lies.
