  1. I've had Wings on my back for a few years now. The price is right, the design is smart and the customer service is what it should be (have had bad experiences with some other mfgs.). As a rigger, I really like the freebag design and the reserve closing loop anchor plate is tough and untweekable unlike Javelins. As a jumper, I like the complete pin and bridle protection (I have a pullout with a pud) and it was more comfortable than the G3 I previously owned. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  2. Just wondering if anyone has used one of these. The lens is a bit small, 25mm. It does have a LANC port and about 690,000 in resolution like the PC101. The camera itself is quite small too. Looks good for freeflying applications... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  3. By the By, Who won the Tayna Harding pre-fight-cat-fight. Just curious how she would do against someone who is not her ex-husband/boyfriend or in a fight with out the "club" *** It went four rounds with Harding losing by decision. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  4. I was just joking about building up my neck. It is more important to have a canopy that opens slow and reliably. A lot of camera guys use Spectres for this reason (Joe Jennings: 25 lb camera helmet - Spectre 135). I use a Xaos and have used Cobalts and Velocities (my setup is about 10 lbs). Stay away from canopies that can smack you on opening, could make for a bad day if you don't. -Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  5. For me it is just preference. I feel safer with it out in front. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  6. Yes actually, I am going to get some lighter gauge alluminum to run from the front of the d box to the leading edge of the still mount. Otherwise, that is what the cutaway is for. -Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  7. Well, after much pain, effort, PMs, and $, my Optik is reborn with a still camera. The mount was fabricated from a 1/8" alluminum I-beam scrap I found in a steel yard. Add a 10 degree bend and a little jigsaw and grinder love and voila!!! This weekend begins zeroing the camera in with the camcorder. I ballparked it by mounting the whole business on a tripod and leveling the lenses together. Off to the gym now to build up my neck! Thanks to all who answered questions and helped with the process... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  8. "yeah, I'ma rigger" in a way that'll pick up chicks. *** Hey, where are the chicks??? I want my benefits dammit!!! -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  9. Congratulations!!! I sure you feel like you have been through an ordeal... TNC (totally nasty creature), Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  10. I played around with the design a little more today. The first design wasn't really intended to detach at the small loop, it was to work soley by the large loop sliding off the top flap. My thinking being to get the whole business away with the main (98 sq. ft. pilot chute style)with a cutaway and then reserve deployment. If I have stowed my slider and done something to function my main after, things will have to happen fast as I am surely unfortunately low. However, if your thinking is that you would like the system detachable at the small loop too without a reserve deployment. I came up with the attached design. The small loop goes around 3/4 the circumference of the ball which holds it well unless it gets a good 20lbs of pressure which can be adjusted by the size of the small loop. -Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  11. Rigging opinions wanted here. The attached photo is a common slider stow design. The large loop of shockcord goes around the entire reserve top flap assembly on my wings when I close it. The small loop is used to loop around the slider and ball to hold it in place. I would like rigger's opinions of any safety issues with the setup. thanks, Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  12. For me, definately my soul. I just don't feel the same about anything anymore, pre-skydiving. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when

  14. Just a question: What is wrong with pulling the slider behind your neck???? blues *** It doesn't stay put. I also wear camera on most of my jumps. My slider gets under the dbox on my pc 110 and pisses me off quite regularly despite having the one way bumpers installed at the bottom of my risers that were mentioned in an earlier post. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  15. Relax, I am sitting with a torn medial miniscus in my left knee from stepping off a ladder wrong at work. My employer says I am an independent contractor (un-beknownst to me) since I work part time, so I am not covered under workman's comp. My surgery is Monday, it will be 8000.00 out of pocket. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  16. I just had an idea. I added an extra loop of shock cord to keep it out of my pack job. Anyone see the pros or cons to this setup? see photo... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  17. Where on the slider is the rubberband loop? Is it on the topside or bottom side? I am thinking I would have it sewn into the bottomside tail of the slider to keep it insulated from the HMA lines on my Xaos when it is quartered in a pack job. Thoughts??? -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  18. I noticed Shanon Pilcher has a piece of shock cord with a dowel on the end around the top flap of his rig. I also know he uses it to stash his slider. Does anyone know more about the design and how it works? thanx, Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  19. Stepped off a ladder a little weird last week, thought nothing of it. Five days after the swelling goes down and my leg feels like it is falling off below the knee, not good. The MD suspects a torn MCL (skydiving translation: You will not jump for many months) and sends me off to an orthopedic doc. He looked at my failing joint this afternoon to discover a torn medial meniscus rather than MCL. I can have it scoped on Monday and have it healthy in 3 to 4 days after. I don't have insurance and I don't know my status on workman's comp, but I am relieved to have a lesser injury at this point. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  20. What is your opinion of skotchguard*** I use red label Scotchguard on Wings per Sunrise Riggings recomendation. -Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  21. Little sis (kelleyadai) is going to start flying them in a year and a half or so. I remember her saying they have a considerable radial range without an engine. They not only glide, they glide well. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when

  23. I looked at the cotter, but was a little concerned about the softer metal wearing through from tension. The spring I used is all the way down, so there is a decent amount of tension there. The assembly itself only sticks out as far as the audible pocket. I am going to look into have an alluminum cap machined to replace the nylon spacer and washer which are glued together. The spacer is there to keep a line from snagging the spring. -Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  24. I put together a simple cutaway design for the chin cup on my Optik. It is a bit derivative of others and a bit mine. It is spring load that fires the spindle out of the helmet when the cotter is pulled, the parts are gone, but they are cheap. safe skies, Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  25. I have always had a strong curiosity about how my gear works and how I can tailor it to my needs (yes, I am a bit particular). In addition, I want to protect my friends in the sport (everyone qualifies here when it comes to safety). When I can spot something in the plane on someone or a student it is definately rewarding. -Jon death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
