If I remember right. The night before I walked into rehab 13 years ago. I drank a 5th of Canadian Club and a 12 pack of Genuine Draft. Thanks for the link. Perhaps this explains why it does go from nose to tail when it fails, because three times the force has to be neccessary to initiate damage. I would still like to hear PDs take on this. They chose their materails carefully after quite a bit of research and I don't see them with a zp reserve on the market. -Jon

I have heard the same thing, in that making the material zp makes it lose its ripstop characteristic. F111 fabric tears a few squares then takes 90 turn and stops. Zp fabric blows out from nose to tail. I am certain that Ed Cummings wrote an article on this in Skydiving or Parachutist several years ago. You might drop him an e-mail... -Jon

I would just like to add that it maybe easy to not turn on your Cypres. However, getting a rigger to install a non-functioning unit is another matter. If the Cypres is not functioning with indate batteries, I am not putting it in. You can lose your certificate over that one (not to mention your reputation). I also believe in a Cypres. Both Kelleyadai and I are big Tori Amos fans. I've seen her perform 3 times, she is the real deal : awesome singer, songwriter, piano player and performer. She does a great job of re-inventing herself for every tour. Not to mention they had a 2.74 second 132-way the day before for a new California State record and Guiness Book World record. The world record 131-way was held for 10.74 seconds. Many of these ladies donated more than $2500, I believe the top fundraiser was in the $8000 plus range. Many mfgs. donated prizes and USPA donated their mailing list ($5000 value) which generated in excess of $15,000. Skydivers can make a difference! This was without a doubt the biggest and most incredible event that I have been a part of in skydiving. My heart goes out to all involved and especially the ladies of the "Daisy-Chain" that helped Kelleyadai and I remember our mother.
