  1. Wow, I think I'll keep my ACl... I jump a Xaos and my worst skydiving injury to date was brush burn on my right shin. All it took was slipping off a ladder weird with a stairway stringer on my shoulder and there I was. I didn't even know I had a injury, initially. Then the knee swelled and was sore. About five days later the swelling went down and it felt like the joint was coming apart on the medial side everytime I lifted my leg. So, I was 31 flavors of paranoid that I had seperated the ACL or MCL. Then came the battle with the employer to get Workman's comp filed. I am just thankful that I rig for a lawyer
  2. I am mostly Irish, but I don't drink. About the best I can offer is letting non-Celtic gals know what it is like to have a lot of Irish in them on St. Pat's. I know, it's the oldest one in the book... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  3. But you can call me shitfaced. I just got back from having arthroscopy on my left knee today. Enjoying a nice Morphine/hydrocodone cocktail right now. I suprised I can still type. Am I slurring my keystrokes? The good news is my ACL is intact. The bad news was trimmed off my medial miniscus and it is smooth as a baby's butt again. If you ever get de-boned chicken breasts, the torn tissue looks like the grissly-fat stuff on the edges. To coin a phrase of my West coast friends, it's pretty knarly!!! The doc says I'll be walkin' in a few days. By 4-6 weeks I'll be good for labor and jumpin' barring any complications. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  4. I own one of each. In my opinion, there is not a better performing RW suit on the market than a Bev with the FX booties and grippers, but it is pricey. My Tony suit is nice for hot days, because it is light. My Bev suit is built a little hardier and has taken abuse better. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  5. Our club is adopting the ISP method of training this year and I have been charged with creating a student manual. I would like feedback from anyone using student manuals at their dropzones. Further, I am collecting samples from those willing to share info. blue skies, Jon Frederickson death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when

    I hate Zales...

    TSA today

I haven't had the opportunity to carry a rig on in the new TSA era. However, the most a baggage checker has ever said to me concerning a rig PreTSA was "It sure is a fancy backpack!" -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  9. As a skydiver, I would probably have to add dust devils. They are probably more likely to getcha and getcha good under canopy than any of these bigger disasters and you can't even see them in some instances... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when

    TSA today

I had a friend just get back from a tunnel camp who was held up for 30 minutes carrying her rig on. They didn't understand why she couldn't let them open it despite having the cypres card. I wonder how well trained they really are... I went through LAX a month ago and they found glycerin on my suitcase (probably from soap). That was a pretty big hold up. I wonder what that would have turned into if I had my rig to boot... I sometimes think the terrorist have already won... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  12. Finally after a month of haggling and research, the insurance company called me today about my workman comp's claim. I am going to get my knee surgery done on Monday of next week. So, it looks like I may not miss much of this year at all unless they find more damage with the scope... All the same, my stress level is receeding a bit with the news that it is getting attention. I am definately a bit "hung-over" from all the haggling I had to do to get the company to file it. It pisses me that they wouldn't do anything until I had consulted a lawyer. I guess "hung-over" beats "bent-over" eh?... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  13. Well, with my educational history an can't even begin to imagine what treats I have in store for me when he enters school... I distinctly remember weekly "Pow Wows" with my father, the principal and my other partner in crime and his mom around 3rd grade... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  14. I am pretty lucky. About the worst thing Drake ever does is ask questions, lots of questions. That's okay though I encourage it... Wait, there was the time we were at the Japanese Steakhouse. I had just loaded up on steak and shrimp when he said "I gotta go poop". So, I took him in the can and Whabamm!!! He pooped and that was okay until he said "Wait there is more, one of them is stuck" I sat in the stall with him for 15 mins. turning green waiting for the straggler... -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
  15. I just stuck my pc 110 in my helmet about where my eye is. However, human eyes are better wide angle lenses. They take in about 4 times this field of view. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when

  22. I use slinks on the main and reserve. After using them on my main for a year I was comfortable enough to change them on my reserve too. I like them because they are a simple yes/no answer to the link issue, they don't get loose or have to be protected to prevent slider or line damage. I did run a couple of passes of supertack between the tab loop and the other link loop on the reserve, since they aren't being tightened by successive deployments. This way it isn't possible for them to become undone in a pack job (sheer paranoia). I also plan to toss my mini risers and slinks in the trash after 500 jumps and replace them. I use my risers alot for canopy input, so I figure this is a safe number for replacement included with regular inspection. -Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
