  1. If I'm "flying right" then I should have very little concern about other people that may cut me off at the last few seconds before landing, even though I saw them from far away? How did that work out for Roger, who was "flying right".
  2. I have heard those words before. "I'll be OK because I fly conservatively and don't swoop". If someone cuts you off on final at about 50 feet I bet you may make a panic turn. End result can be the same as a "hook turn".
  3. A well trained and educated eyeball. How can I educate and train my eyeball? Mine only recognizes three altitudes: up high, nearly there and oh shit. My main alti is a Viplo FT50. I think the face is clearer on the FT50 than an Altimaster Galaxy and it's just as tough. as brian germain has put it so eloquently in his world-famous book "the parachute and it's pilot", and re-urgitated loosely of what i remember: "when everyone in aviation, pilots of all kinds, rely on their instruments, why do we as skydivers think we're so much better than them!?" Instrument pilots rely heavily on their instruments (in IMC). VFR pilots (like skydivers), not so much. I learned to fly VFR without being solely dependent on my instruments.
  4. 33% of America's oil comes from those off-shore wells in the Gulf. That means that you've been driving around all this time with the stuff in your gas tank. So you don't get to blame southern rednecks for allowing the drilling, because you've been promoting it yourself with your driving. Give up 33% of your driving miles, and then maybe you can claim some moral high ground. But until then, just because it ain't coming from your shore, doesn't mean you're not partially responsible for the demand to produce it. Much of the nation's gas is refined here in the Houston, Texas area. We'll be happy to shut the valve on your pipeline if you're so all-fired against oil. How about a new federal law that says that each state must make do with the oil they can produce from their own territory? We'd be sitting pretty and smiling here in Texas. We might have to put up armed border guards on the highways to keep you hippie/yuppie Californians from comin' over here and tryin' to get some of ours. Yeah, you guys like to talk about how "green" you are, while continuing to suck up vast quantities of other people's oil. You're living in a liberal weenie dream world... Fully agree.
  5. Did Bush Jr just admit to committing war crimes? No.
  6. I didn't see anywhere in the article(or video) where someone from BP said "the gulf can take it". It was in the title of the article but why put it in quotes in the title if it was not said?
  7. No you didn't claim to make a blanket statement, you just made one.
  8. I just have to ask. If your body position is bad enough to cause line twist every 10 jumps or so, is it wise jumping a Stiletto and a camera? I don't think such frequent line twist could be described as occasional.
  9. You can't get much closer to the universe than you are, since you are in it.
  10. ALL his posts His PM was funny too. It was two words that started with F and Y. Then he block PM's from me. I'm very sad. The same in my PM box he probably Cut and Pasted it why dont the both of you get together and cry for your mommies!?
  11. If you want to claim radios are required at SOME dropzones, that fine (individual DZ rules). You made a blanket statement that "radios are mandatory". But radios for students are not mandatory. Please specify where it says so in the SIM. The USPA can make mandatory rules for USPA DZ's. Individual DZ rules do not make something mandatory at all USPA DZ's.
  12. They may be just that. An anomaly in the state in which you refer. But as you stated "Radios were not common even a short while ago at 182 dzs" is not true for DZ's nation wide. Post #88 "I just find it interesting that this sport seems to slowly be moving into the babysitting aspect in all areas from student to experienced. Examples, radios are mandatory, AADs are mandatory, no turns over 90, " You don't know what you don't know (or what you wrote)
  13. I rarely, if ever respond to your post. Does that mean I agree with you? Quite the opposite. I don't waste my time on meaningless drivel. Your logic (or total lack of) is fatally flawed if you believe no response to your babbling is agreeing. Apparently you didn't put it together, he responded to part of my post, ignored the tuff stuff; if you were as sharp as you claimed, you would have put that together. If a person ignores the entire post, there's no way to establish they read it, he did read it and respond to only part - not real difficult. Your logic (or total lack of) is fatally flawed if you believe no response to your babbling is agreeing. (whether in whole or part of the babbling)
  14. Incorrect. I did my first jump in 1993. Didn't jump again until 1999. On my first jump in 93 all students had radios. In 99 all students had radios. They were both 182 dropzones. Since 99, I have been to a handful of 182 dropzones, all with radios. Radios are not mandatory. Spotting through clouds is different than spotting around clouds. One may get you in trouble with the FAA. Which rules might those be? The ones that increased safety? If you are comparing a few dropzones that have set up mandatory rules as opposed to the entire dropzone world, I don't see any babysitting. You don't know what you don't know.
  15. They are basically the same thing. In both cases, wind speed across the wing decreases and stalls the wing. A wing can stall at any indicated airspeed as long as the critical angle of attack has been exceeded.
  16. I rarely, if ever respond to your post. Does that mean I agree with you? Quite the opposite. I don't waste my time on meaningless drivel. Your logic (or total lack of) is fatally flawed if you believe no response to your babbling is agreeing.
  17. Never said it was Bush's fault, No you didn't, you just implied it. You never cease to amaze.
  18. You forgot to add "nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah". Or what would be better to add to your post..."I know you are but what am I". That would be in line with the intellect of your post. ALL his posts His PM was funny too. It was two words that started with F and Y. Then he block PM's from me. I'm very sad.
  19. There's something wrong with me. Nope. You just have mad skillz. Good job Rambo.
  20. I know...so what? maybe there should be. Lets not stop with deer. we should have leash laws for rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, opossum, etc. Ridiculous.
  21. well...they sell them, so whatever. The state sells them? Incorrect.
  22. Of course, 38 other nations that rank ahead of the US don't have fat people, poorly educated people, self-destructive people, drunks and smokers. Oh wait, YES THEY DO. What they have that is different is a better SYSTEM of providing health care. Now, like all the other threads, you just have to PROVE that is what makes the difference. Oh, wait - you CAN'T. That's why you keep falling back on lame posts like this. Irony score 10/10 You said irony score. You win.
