  1. What handles? Also are you asking about a removable slider only(title) or a full RDS system?
  2. Probably because he has bought his son tunnel time, he can't afford much more. Plus when it comes to tunnel time, the cost is pretty much the same no matter which tunnel you go to. But there are differences in prices for training methods. SL is usually a much cheaper alternative to AFF and he should be at the same place (skill level) when he gets his license.
  3. TO REPEAT: "And just to make it clear to those who read into my post things that I haven't written: I am not opposed to a wingload BSR. I am opposed to a BSR based on jump numbers rather than ability." I'm surprised you choose the easy path instead of the right path. Would you be opposed to a BSR that imposes a minimum jump number and a test of ability? James If they can prove they have the ability, a jump number requirement is irrelevant and superfluous. How do you propose they prove they have the ability? James Test. Just like we ask candidates for a license, or a PRO rating, or a coach rating, or an instructor rating to prove they have the ability. To receive any of those you must have a minimum number of jumps(or freefall time) to qualify. If jump numbers are "irrelevant and superfluous" then we should be able to open up the testing for anyone to do. Do you want to ride on the front of a tandem instructor candidate with only 50 jumps if he has passed all the written and oral "knowledge" test?
  4. Hey Mangiapane85, maybe you should do a skydive before you start giving advice. Reading DZ.com or gear reviews will not give the the EXPERIENCE needed to give advice to newbies. Get off my nuts man! You're startin to freak me out. Did you read the last sentence in my post by chance?? Drrrr... nope... you prolly didn't, did you? Yes, I read the last sentence. I stand by what I said.
  5. The mean the (modern weapon) AK 47 that was introduced in 1947 and has changed very very little from it's original design? You probably should be more familiar with subjects before you try to discuss them.
  6. How? Who will be hurt by such a jump number based BSR? Someone who reaches the magic jump number but doesn't really have the ability. That already happens without the BSR. Next. Incorrect. I HAVE proposed a solution based on testable skill and ability rather than a parameter (jump number) that no-one has been able to show will work. The proposal you suggest is vague at best. Please explain to us what YOU suggest as testable skills and ability.
  7. Excellent posts ecnuob. You seem to have a good grasp of the situation. Also, remember that until you have about 1903 jumps, you are naive, no matter how correct your advice is.
  8. Hey Mangiapane85, you haven't made a jump yet, right? You are giving out a lot of advice in several different threads which is surprising since you have never jumped.
  9. Hey Mangiapane85, maybe you should do a skydive before you start giving advice. Reading DZ.com or gear reviews will not give the the EXPERIENCE needed to give advice to newbies.
  10. Good to know that you are for fiscal responsibility. I think the attachment mnealtx posted fits your attitude to a tee. Funny how right wingers suddenly discover fiscal responsibility now that their profligate borrow-and-spenders are out of office. Funny how you keep using this argument to justify bad fiscal responsibility for the group you support. Two wrongs do make a right in your world apparently.

  12. You must be kidding! From my observation, landing related injuries seem far more common in AFF students than Tandem students. in my observation, obstacle landings seem far more common for AFF students than tandem students. Things I have seen or have reliable first person reports about: --Very hard landing into side of building. AFF yes; Tandem no --Riding a spinning mal to impact w/o attempt to cut away. AFF yes; Tandem no. --Landing in power lines. AFF yes; Tandem no. I wish I had quick access to hard facts on this question. However, both logic and my observations lead me to be confident that tandem is safer than AFF. You missed his point completely.
  13. It is not a requirement that instructional rating courses must be performed at a USPA dropzone. The I/E must be USPA rated and a current member but the dropzone does not have to be a USPA member. Many people travel to other dropzones to take instructional courses. You register the course with USPA and anyone can sign up to take the course.
  14. Wouldn't making fun of his spelling be an example of playing the player and not the ball????? Pointing out spelling mistake is also a good way to deflect from having to comment on the video and trying to discredit the poster for something totally unrelated to the content of the video. Surprising how many times this is seen here by moderators. And later when confronted about doing this and realizing how ridiculous it was, then you can always claim you were just joking. It was a joke DUDE. lmao
  15. See, you and yours have to edit this crap to *TRY* to make a point, albiet a false one. Whereas as me and mine can post a real, unedited vid to make ours..... sucks to be on the other side. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx7a3leZJJI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKgPY1adc0A&feature=related So really, save the inane BS for children's forums, it is your representatives are are fools. Here is an unedited video for you, Lucky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws
  16. From the OP Are you going to buy it for him? Everyone says they don't have money to buy gear - until they do. Yes, until they do. At a later date when they have saved money. Guess you don't get it. I get what you are trying to imply. What you don't get is some people truly can not afford to spend several thousand dollars to buy a new rig. Some people don't have that much saved and others don't use their credit cards so frivolously.
  17. The scenario you describe would show that there may not have been enough separation between groups and Joe is tracking farther than necessary. Exit separation should account for winds aloft/aircraft ground speed and the size of the group that exited before you. Tracking should be done to the extent to get good separation from your group to safely deploy, not so much that you track into the group that left before you. A max track is not always necessary.

  19. http://www.birthdayjubilee.com/Party%20Pak%20Groups/ScoobyDoo/ScoobyDooRuhRohPlates.gif Good job. You caught a spelling error. You've got them on the run now. It got me a cheap laugh from at least one person, so bite me. Of course it was funny. You found a spelling mistake and went out of your way to point it out rather than comment on the content of the post. That's hilarious.
