Which article of the Constitution did it violate? How about separation of powers and the president's duty to execute the laws faithfully? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Oh hey look, it's your second gotcha thread in 2 days. When you start using the fact that people are behaving in a reasonable and rational way to attack them, you really should start to consider that you are everything that's wrong with modern political discourse. I don't consider either of them a gotcha thread. I would have thought DACA would be right in your wheelhouse. I realize it's tough keeping track of everything you hate about Trump. Be that as it may BHO's 2012 XO was unconstitutional and he knew it. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

From the quote above... 1. Though there is evidence both for and against the existence of a detectable anthropogenic signal in the tropical cyclone climate record to date, no firm conclusion can be made on this point. Looks like the folks at Time missed that memo. And if you don't think the media is playing around with this message you would be wrong. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Now go back and actually read the article. It is not long, it won't take much time. Not once does it make any mention of any increase in storms. It says that any given storm should contain more water. The gist of it is in this paragraph: “A warmer ocean makes a warmer atmosphere, a warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture,” says Gabriel Vecchi, a professor of geosciences at Princeton University who studies extreme weather events. “So, all other things equal, the same storm in a warmer planet would give you more rainfall.” True however, the headline that reads Climate Change Causing More Rainfall doesn't sell magazines. And we have a winner Who, me or Time Magazine? The story is not so much about Irma as the record rainfall from Harvey. The One Number That Shows Why Climate Change Is Making Hurricane Season Worse It's a great piece that somehow believes less than 1 degree rise in the surface temperature of the ocean is causing an increase in storms. If only there actually was an increase. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

The surfaces of most tropical oceans have warmed by 0.25-0.5 degrees Celsius during the past several decades. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) considers that the likely primary cause of the rise in global mean surface temperature in the past 50 years is the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations. The global community of tropical cyclone researchers and forecasters as represented at the 6th International Workshop on Tropical Cyclones of the World Meteorological Organization has released a statement on the links between anthropogenic (human-induced) climate change and tropical cyclones, including hurricanes and typhoons. This statement is in response to increased attention on tropical cyclones due to the following events: a) There have been a number of recent high-impact tropical cyclone events around the globe. These include 10 landfalling tropical cyclones in Japan in 2004, five tropical cyclones affecting the Cook Islands in a five-week period in 2005, Cyclone Gafilo in Madagascar in 2004, Cyclone Larry in Australia in 2006, Typhoon Saomai in China in 2006, and the extremely active 2004 and 2005 Atlantic tropical cyclone seasons--including the catastrophic socio-economic impact of Hurricane Katrina. b) Some recent scientific articles have reported a large increase in tropical cyclone energy, numbers, and wind-speeds in some regions during the last few decades in association with warmer sea surface temperatures. Other studies report that changes in observational techniques and instrumentation are responsible for these increases. 1. Though there is evidence both for and against the existence of a detectable anthropogenic signal in the tropical cyclone climate record to date, no firm conclusion can be made on this point. 2. No individual tropical cyclone can be directly attributed to climate change. 3. The recent increase in societal impact from tropical cyclones has largely been caused by rising concentrations of population and infrastructure in coastal regions. 4. Tropical cyclone wind-speed monitoring has changed dramatically over the last few decades, leading to difficulties in determining accurate trends. 5. There is an observed multi-decadal variability of tropical cyclones in some regions whose causes, whether natural, anthropogenic or a combination, are currently being debated. This variability makes detecting any long-term trends in tropical cyclone activity difficult. 6. It is likely that some increase in tropical cyclone peak wind-speed and rainfall will occur if the climate continues to warm. Model studies and theory project a 3-5% increase in wind-speed per degree Celsius increase of tropical sea surface temperatures. 7. There is an inconsistency between the small changes in wind-speed projected by theory and modeling versus large changes reported by some observational studies. 8. Although recent climate model simulations project a decrease or no change in global tropical cyclone numbers in a warmer climate, there is low confidence in this projection. In addition, it is unknown how tropical cyclone tracks or areas of impact will change in the future. 9. Large regional variations exist in methods used to monitor tropical cyclones. Also, most regions have no measurements by instrumented aircraft. These significant limitations will continue to make detection of trends difficult. 10. If the projected rise in sea level due to global warming occurs, then the vulnerability to tropical cyclone storm surge flooding would increase. https://www.wunderground.com/education/webster.asp I know you really, really want climate change to have an impact on storms. Not quite yet. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Are you kidding? Is it really possible that a person in 2017 can will themselves deaf and blind enough to not see the changes we have made to this planet in the last, what, 20 years? Better yet, go back further; I can remember 1957, the year I became an amateur environmentalist, or tree hugger if you like. I saw with my own, (watery,) eyes, and smelled and choked on the air in Los Angeles that year, and it made a Believer out of me. I know that man can damage the air. And the rivers, and the lakes, and the land, and the oceans themselves. Yes, it was a city, not a planet, I know. I don't care! The lesson was there to see and I saw it. If we did that to the whole planet, we would die. There were about 3B humans then. The way I see it, we have been doing our best to turn the whole world into that ever since. In the 1970's and 80's people started catching on, which was soon followed by a major effort to mislead and confuse by those few who stood to profit from burning oil. And now we have a lot of people that deny what is right in front of their eyes. Look at the Artic! Notice it's water and not ice? People in Alaska sure as heck know something is going on. Try checking some weather data: High temp records are broken every time you look. How many record highs are there where you live that are dated before 2000? Where I live we have had a 100 year flood, a 500 year flood, and a 1,000 year flood in the last 3 years But yeah, my neighbor thinks it's all normal, so there's that. If his prediction that we won't see another flood for 20 years comes true I'll be sure to let you know. Oh well. The sad thing for me is that I think we missed our chance to fix this a long time ago... tipping points, and all that... And yet you are here to mock people like me. But to give you my answer to how I think this is related to climate change: Yes, I think a warmer planet can expect more of this, and a lot more in the years to come, thanks to human pollution. I hope I'm wrong. I hope we don't flood for 20 years. We'll see. Not kidding. Attached is the record of storms to hit the US in the last 250 years. The trend is downward. Flood insurance is issued by FEMA. If you live in a flood zone and have a mortgage you were probably required to carry flood insurance. I saw an estimate that only 20% of the homes carry the insurance. Seems low. Either way, we'll all pay. Funny how some on here are OK with people not carrying health insurance but are berated as scum for no flood insurance. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

What part of "none on here have called out the Mayor of Houston." ? Seems to me to be a lot of hypocrites on here who went ballistic over the handling of Katrina but are mute towards Harvey. Let me spell it out more clearly...Sylvester Turner was wrong when he chose not to evacuate Houston. Most of the vocal on here gave Mr. Turner a pass because he's a Democrat. Hypocrites. You said "Hard decisions are made with the info available, sometimes quickly, and sometimes not always the correct ones." Are you saying Turner's decision isn't the correct one? Or are you saying that hard decisions were made W/R/T Katrina? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Playing politics with a natural disaster I see. Nice. The mayor seems like a stand up guy and is doing all he can and seems to be performing well. I'm not sure if you have ever been involved working within the framework of a natural disaster. Hard decisions are made with the info available, sometimes quickly, and sometimes not always the correct ones. Back to your regularly scheduled politics. Nice try. From your post in 2008... I guess it's not a failure if a Dem is making hard decisions Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

We'll just have to see how this plays out. You're on record then as saying Houston shouldn't have been evacuated because 20 people might have died? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Not surprising that none on here have called out the Mayor of Houston. Probably because he carries a (D) after his name. Even when the governor suggested evacuating the city might be a good idea, Mr. Turner declined. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
