Yeah! What he said... Care to elaborate? Is it the logic, the conveyor of, or ...? Mostly, I second almost anything Airtwardo posts because he's so old and wise. Of course, that's not very logical but it does fit with the reasoning expressed by many here. You being an exception to the norm, of course. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

Woody, you are my hero!! I tried to break your record a few months after you set it. Although I didn't break your record I did set a record that no one in the world has attempted to break in 40 years: I still hold the world record for parachuting night pukes! No one has gotten sick jumping out of an airplane at night as often as I have. I made 89 jumps in 11.5 hours before being stopped by a doctor. I got sick on the second jump and dry heaved through most of the rest. Absolutely the worst night of my life. Read about my failed attempt to break your record...and the setting of mine!...at this location: http://aicommand.com/PukeDuke.htm You were an inspiration for many years, Woody. Thank you. As an aside, failing to break Woody's record served the same purpose as actually breaking it. Attempting to break his record brought considerable attention and a large number of new jumpers to my drop zone. Only the DB Cooper advert (below) for parachuting lessons got more publicity. Actually, the publicity was worth all the puking. Well, almost. Bernie/// Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

Except for the super-sleuths who have written books I like to gloat that I'm one of the few people who made any money from the DB Cooper caper...so long ago. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

"Burning fossil fuels just for fun." Or something like that. What ever happened to her? I found her insightful, interesting and quite intelligent. She probably got fed up with the nonsense in this thread just like the other 99% of us. Truth is, I no longer trust some of you. Ooops...My bad. What I meant to write is this: "She probably got fed up with the nonsense in this thread just like the other 99% of us jumpers. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

Have you ever wondered why certain people just don't research their field of study before putting together something like you have? I'd fail you for lack of background research and for lack of knowledge of your thesis field. Have you no knowledge of D4DR? We are not stupid because we jump out of air planes...we can't help it: it's in our genes. Jeesh... Guru312 I am not DB Cooper -

Me too. I went through jump school in 1960 with the 82nd Airborne at Ft Bragg. I started sport jumping with the XVIII Airborne Corps club. The only release we had on both military and sport rigs were 2-shot Capewells. I witnessed my first fatality when jumping with the Corps club on Sicily DZ. My free fall instructor went in because of the great difficulty with 2 shot Capewell when packing in the gritty sand of the DZ. He was a bit heavy, the wind a bit strong and guys would often do the first step of cutting away before landing so disconnection of one side would be easier and we wouldn't get dragged. About 250 feet from the ground he did the first step but something went wrong...probably a poor closure of the Capewell...and the riser came completely disconnect with the first step. He never had time for his reserve to inflate. I vaguely remember that we filed off a tab on a part of the assembly which caused what I describe to happen. Too long ago to remember exactly what we did to the assembly, maybe someone else can remember the exact modification. Don landed about 100 feet from me. It was scary and horrible. Needless to write, those who made that modification went back to original equipment after that. Note: I just re-read this. Actually, sport rigs didn't exist back then. We jumped military canopies with gores removed. During the time period the Army team jumped seven gore TU modifications which were considered "too hot" and dangerous for "beginners" like myself, Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

OK...let's start with these. 1. Explain at what location and by whom (their experience for doing the teaching, not the person's name) Duane received parachute training; how to secure the money to his harness/body; donning the parachute and how to actually complete the aircraft exit. 2. What did Duane have in the paper bag? 3. How did he put the money into the milk container? Was it put in "piecemeal", by bundle, or was the canvas bank bag pushed into the milk container pretty much full? 4. Why was Duane picked for the job? Was he talented in some way... or did he owe someone a favor ....or did he volunteer? Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

This is the best line I've read since reading comments in SH&T. I'm sure that the older I get the more sense it will make. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

That's an easy answer for me: flying skydivers is more dangerous than jumping or flying which is not jump related. You didn't specify "flying jumpers" but that's what I'm referring to. Skydiving compared to flying which is not flying jumpers I'd say is probably more dangerous. Flying jumpers for me was such an adrenaline rush and challenge and FUN that I hardly jumped at all after I began flying jumpers. I have about 2000 hours flying up and down up and down. The number of things that can go wrong flying for a student-oriented operation complicates and endangers the flying even more. The best times of my life were getting the crap scared out of me dealing with in-flight emergencies. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

Clyde Jacks, D42, Remembering a Great Skydiver

I can't identify the jumpers but I can sure identify with the fancy jump clothing, belly warts and football helmets. That is one wonderful picture. I have about 100 jumps where I dressed like that and wore a football helmet. Good memories! And thanks, Pat, for telling the story about Clyde... and reformatting your fascinating resume. More stories! Guru312 I am not DB Cooper -

I wonder that myself, some times. I don't have to tell you how famous and revered Pat Works is. Most of us who have been in this sport as long as we have know his informative and entertaining writing. He is truly one of the icons of the sport. Most who have been in the sport for decades know of him and his writing. 337 recently wrote this: "Pat does have a way with words. Have you ever read a more riveting description of ground rush??? OMG, he had me sweating and trying to find something to pull." EXACTLY. Pat has a fantastic talent with words that we have always admired. This "data dump" of poorly formatted and barely readable none sentences, with no spacing, is not the writing of the Pat Works I remember. I would like--I expect--more from Pat Works than this "data dump" of his life. He should be telling his story...his life story!...tell any story from his life. Pat is the master of story telling. If he isn't at the top of most skydivers list of writers in the business he certainly should be. But he'd never have the reputation...and sell the books he has...if he produced something like what he posted. I would like to see the story of his life. I don't care to read through reams of data to find that he has none children and 0 pets. Check back to my website over the next few days, I'll be posting reams of data that none of you care about and you won't read. Please, Pat, tell us a story. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper -
Asking price: $4,200,000 Land Assessment: $470,000 Improvements: $499,900 Total Tax Assessment: $969,900 It would take quite a few skydives to pay off that investment. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

I was in the 82nd Airborne, 1960 to '62. I was in HQ of the DivArty. There were various clerks in the HQ personnel office who kept track of everything Matt writes about...and probably a whole lot more. The Morning Formation represented the actual head count that went into the "Report". Guys in HQ combined all the reports from the 6 artillery units into a much larger report. They kept track of huge amounts of information with paper and pencil. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

And me. Attacking anyone's mother is totally inappropriate. Doing so while hiding behind a computer connection is cowardly. Totally uncalled for and deserving of an apology, Knoss. I'm dismayed that Quade would write about comments concerning political affiliations and not mention a vile attack on one's mother. Goodbye Bob Knoss. I actually thought your story had merit but after this issue I really don't care. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

i think it's spelled "you're" hahahahhaahahahaha Good job, Falco! What makes this whole thing funnier is that "bfrief" is obviously a simple typo; "you're"/"your" is simply ignorance. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper

You present a good argument with what you have written, I readily admit. Never the less, I wasn't commenting on 3331's comments as a jumper, who I know from my years at Pelicanland, I was commenting on your attitude as a DZO/Employee of a DZO. I think your attitude is counter productive to running a successful business...DZ or anything else dealing with people. Look up thread at Quade's and Tink's comments. Tink said it much, much better than all my words do: "Lance, WTF??? " Your comments to 3331 about spelling errors indicates to me you are not getting it. Let me be bfrief: All the "hahaha" in world won't change how the world is seeing you. Guru312 I am not DB Cooper
