Why would you tell the press this BEFORE doing anything about it? It's more political grandstanding bullshit and it really annoys me. Now Manafort, Flynn et al are specifically forewarned and can have that conversation with President Trump that starts 'hey, 'bout that pardon...' before the FBI come for them. While I'm sure that there were cautious before now, this is a giant alarm bell that tells them that they should be starting a more precise process of protecting themselves - getting stories straight, destroying any additional evidence missed the first time round etc.

I think normiss was responding to Quade's blind link and probably clicked reply on your post by mistake. And I agree. I don't click on links with no context either.

It'll be the obstructionist Democrats remember... They're the reason. That or Obama.

I think the commander in chief should have better things to occupy his attention and the owners should have replied to his tweet with 'shut the fuck up and do your job. Let us do ours.' Who gives a shit, really? Until the President waded in, these types of protests were a storm in a teacup. They were generally ignored. But now it's a THING and everyone has to have a position on it purely because Trump can't go a day without making bold statements on something. (It's how he measures that he's managing stuff).

Seems like you guys would like this video that popped up in my Youtube feed the other day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pOXunRYJIw Smarter Every Day - See-through suppressor in slow motion.

Much respect. 1 is plenty tough enough for me.

It jumped out to me on the BBC news website this morning - clear as crystal. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leeds-41361803 It might be an English thing, but seriously, this is the end times. The absolute deepest form of heresy.

Might want to get the 2017 edition of stuff to watch out for... Yours is a little out of date.

I wouldn't wash it unless you know you got some sort of contaminant on it. Personally I'd just shake it out and give it a visual inspection. Lay it out in the hanger and go over the top and bottom skins and inspect each line, although I wouldn't expect to find anything unless I'd been really aggressive in recovering it. That said, if you'll always feel uncomfortable unless you get it washed and inspected, do that. Having peace of mind about your parachute is really valuable. You should be more worried about doing any damage to Farmer McNasty's crops... That's what I thought this post was about.

I got our sick baby to sleep. THAT'S a miracle... so tired.

Too many people get coach ratings because they think it's a way to get free jumps, IMO. A coach jump is a working jump, complete with thorough plan and debrief. Its not just an excuse to go and jump. I've seen lots of people with that attitude and it's a massive disservice to the student. There is absolutely no need to get a coach rating. if you're not interested in instructing at the moment concentrate on fun jumping and the beginner program when you're ready.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41367128 Talking about bipartisanship: Absolutely. Take the time to do it right otherwise it'll be a continual clusterfuck with every election, no matter who wins. Well done, Senator. If only your colleagues had the same backbone.

Thank you! It was eye opening. There were nearly 1400 people getting naturalized with me, from 48 different countries from absolutely all over the world. And they do one of these ceremonies every month... and that was just in San Diego. Despite all of the current negativity about immigration it was great so see that there is still such a melting pot of people making it through the system. Fingers crossed it stays like that.
-
I didn't know that. I got my naturalization yesterday. The Brits are slowly taking over, Ron!
-
Ron, if you choose to only pay attention to your tiny part of the world then you'll obviously think that anyone who provides opinions about your particular corner is meddling in things that don't concern them. The reality is that it's perfectly reasonable to live in one location yet be fully aware of actions and consequences of what's going on in another thanks to the availability of news from around the world, and to form opinions that are just as valid as yours as a result. Just because you choose not to do that doesn't mean that people who do are 'stalking' Americans. I also have opinions on what's happening in the UK despite not living there, as well as various other countries around the world. I'm not stalking them, either. And that's just funny - you'll actually alter someone's nationality to make it fit your weird world-view, because saying 'I also get criticized by Americans' would completely invalidate your entire point.

Hitler was evil. That's my yardstick. Trump isn't there yet.
-
I don't think so. I think evil is enjoying the deliberate harm you're doing. I think he's an idiot, but that's something else.
-
Drop a WiDI and extrapolate from there? Or is there something more sophisticated?
-
I don't think you understand what hypocrisy means. It should be a big deal whoever won and I'd fully support investigations of Hillary if she'd done this and was in the Whitehouse. YOU wouldn't - That's the hypocrisy. You want to investigate Clinton, but not Trump. You can't have it both ways - either they're both potentially guilty and need investigation, or we shouldn't give a shit about either. And there's your problem - it was a big deal in November (and by big deal I mean shock) but we're now 9 months on and like I said originally, Hilly is completely irrelevant at this point. You're still harping on about her loss to avoid talking about any of the actual issues that are facing the government. Oh, and the voter fraud thing is totally fake news by the biased right-wing media. Besides, Bush and Trump already had loads of corruption in their elections, and even if she was involved in voter fraud it probably didn't make any difference anyway.
-
Standard excuse #3. Get this through your thick skull - Hillary is a non-event. She's not the president or on the presidential staff. Nobody cares what she did or didn't do because she's not relevant any more. This excuse of yours that you trot out regularly doesn't excuse ANY of the bullshit your guy gets up to. What people are concerned about is if there is corruption in the sitting government. You should be concerned about that too... It's more important than party lines. To normal people, anyway.

13km is a pretty impressive error! We did a jump out of a passing Russian military helicopter years ago in the Czech Republic. They managed to blow the spot by 4 miles and put us out over the local town instead of the airport... and I thought that was bad!
-
To be fair, that's a pretty big fucking advantage. It cuts the 'kill-everybody' time down from 15 minutes to just a couple.
-
Obelix is right. A much higher SL exit than typical would probably increase the risk on that particular jump due to the liklihood of an off landing, not decrease it. What is it exactly that you're trying to do? Skydiving isn't 'safe', but it's as safe as we can make it. If you're not comfortable with that maybe it's not for you. That's fine - it's not for everyone.
-
Manifest Dilemma - What would you do?
yoink replied to Diogenes's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Absolutely! The 4-way team fucked up. The solo shouldn't have to reorganize because of that... The LO should remove the jumper without the ticket and if the rest of the 4 way get off the plane, fine. They lose their tickets. If the solo OFFERS to stand down, fine, but otherwise the 4-way is SOL in my book. I'm surprised by how many responses here are giving priority to the team.
